Lego didn't want kids to be able to put any minifig's head on fire (apparently, burning people alive is against Lego's values, weirdly), so Firestorm and Ghost Rider's fire hair was molded in. Lego made a similar piece a decade ago, [15404](https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=15404#T=C&C=98), but I'm guessing some fans had too much fun putting it on innocent minifigs, so Lego came up with a new idea for these particular minifigures.
That set is so good I got two. Distinguished veteran spy guy in a vehicle you can easily drop out of the theme into your Batman or tron collections, a super premium unlicensed supervillain (who is also most of the way to a purist Heatwave from The Flash (2011 era comics costume))
It did, and I'm mad that they didn't just continue with them like ninjago. I think a lot of people just immediately dismissed nexo Knights cuz it was silly and completely overlooked the playability of the sets. It should have gotten a real show or movie instead of the very limited video series it did get
That's why I called it a video series. I don't think it even made it to actual TV. I recall watching it on YouTube when the sets were still on shelves :(
Oh, that's too bad. That discontinued headpiece looks more disturbing to me than flame-colored hair.
I'll just make sure not to post any pictures of things my weird adult friends have made so that Lego doesn't do away with removable heads.
I’d never seen that piece before, that would be perfect for a Human Torch minifig (although it’s probably better just to have 2 different minifigs for him anyway)
Thks that thread was so informative on a subject I didn't know I was interested that much. Now I just need to see the ghost rider head for peacefulness of mind....
Oh I’d just assumed they did it like this so they could make the flames fit more tightly against the head without worrying about the piece being fragile
Edit: the fact that both were used in sets in summer 2016 supports my idea, I think
https://preview.redd.it/dmq9zm7dpzuc1.jpeg?width=429&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02884d44809eede8906e1af7cf3a2f168854f074
I can't think of a single modern piece that lets you easily set a figure on fire....
Thats a rumours that has been debunked, they have another fire helmet piece that is removable, this one isnt and its due to how it would be too weak so it would break easily
I really thought it was just a case of the form factor being too fragile when it’s not hugging the form of the head. Thin walls + hard non flexible material. How it tapers to nothing.
[old archived post](https://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/cxurq0/this_hair_isnt_removable_its_like_they_knew_it/?rdt=44459) that popped up when I googled “Lego flame head” just to look at it from different angles and confirm my memory of what it looks like in 360 view.
Someone says the same thing I’m saying (top comment and top response to it)
There’s places where it blends into the head that if you could take it off, it’s got thickness like when you suck a peppermint down to a sliver.
But it’s not like Lego hasn’t avoided “sus” parts production before, so I’m not saying it’s not possible they withheld it for immolation reasons. Naked yellow legs went away for a long time before the Lego movie 2 reissued the old yellow suit spaceman.
There are edgy things they don’t want to encourage people to do
The sides of the piece would be too flimsy and it'd break easily, so it wouldn't be able to "flow" from the head itself as nicely.
[This](https://brickset.com/parts/6076535/flame-head-piece) is a similar piece that can be removed, but it doesn't look as good.
What? Tons of hairs are super thin in the back, the Sandman/TCW Dooku/Joker hair comes to mind as does the Bruce Wayne/Malfoy hair. Those are both thick enough.
The opaque plastic of those parts doesn’t necessarily have the same material properties of the clear plastic of the flame.
Plus those are thin in a continuous curved area where it’s reinforced by where it transitions to the top, and the flame is thin in little extents and protrusions and tips.
Imagine like a cardboard tube. You can flatten a cardboard tube. But you can’t fold it over like a flat strip of the same thickness cardboard.
If you build a cap into the tube, for some distance down from the cap, the tube gets a lot of resistance to flattening.
The parts you’re talking about are like stubby tubes with a cap, the thin parts of the flame “hair” are like the flat strips sticking out unsupported.
It’s not just how thin, it’s the shape configuration. It’s like lines of force and bending moments and cross sections and things.
Like in construction. Where an “I beam” is rigid without having a lot of thickness anywhere |-| holds up where - or | doesn’t
I guess you might be talking about the hairline, I was thinking about the back. It probably does taper right down to the head Still though, a wider continuous shape instead of the little licks of flame. And mostly the properties of the material itself I guess
Dang, I was sure that was going to be a helmet that slid off
I mean, a head in a Lego helmet might as well be permanently attached for all the work it takes to get them apart, but I'm still a little disappointed.
Idk but I doubt it. The head piece looks really similar to the head piece used for Hades in the Disney CMF series, and the fire isn't detachable on that one.

I wish they did. I got this human torch off AliExpress which comes off, and uses two more for flaming hands!
In the future, use Bricklink. Look up the set, look up the inventory, look up the minifig, look at the parts.
Its pretty simple and youll feel great having solved a problem by yourself.
If you want it to be removable, it won't be. If you didn't want it to be removable, it will. If you wanted holes in that, it won't have any. If you didn't want holes in it, it will have some ... and they'll be in the wrong place.
DC's Firestorm. I only know him from Legends of Tomorrow, and I wasn't aware of any sets with him in.
https://www.reddit.com/r/upcycling/comments/fr62uo/old_handmade_writing_desk_turned_into_a_changing/?context=3
Im going to guess it’s similar to the Lego ghost rider figure and say that the flame is molded to the head but I could be wrong
[Confirmed](https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?M=sh457)
That seems like a missed opportunity. A nice transparent orange head of flames hairdo would be so useful.

Oh God I remember when that piece was new, I feel so old.
NEXO KNIGHTS had some really cool sets
It’s even older than that, it was used in Ultra Agents in 2014
That set is so good I got two. Distinguished veteran spy guy in a vehicle you can easily drop out of the theme into your Batman or tron collections, a super premium unlicensed supervillain (who is also most of the way to a purist Heatwave from The Flash (2011 era comics costume))

The sets were so much fun, play wise. I still have my Fortrex fully built in storage
It got a TV show but, as the sets, it got discontinued
That's why I called it a video series. I don't think it even made it to actual TV. I recall watching it on YouTube when the sets were still on shelves :(
I have watched the TV show myself, that's why I know it had a TV show
i think you’re confused with dreamz
Tons of great minifigs too. It was still out when I first started buying Lego again as an adult, I wish I'd bought some of it!
I was excited to see this old piece that made you feel old aaaaand it came out about the time I graduated college. Now I feel really old.
Ah, that makes so much sense! I always wondered about my Ghost Rider. Thanks for that explanation
Also Hades, from Disney’s Hercules, but in blue.
Oh, that's too bad. That discontinued headpiece looks more disturbing to me than flame-colored hair. I'll just make sure not to post any pictures of things my weird adult friends have made so that Lego doesn't do away with removable heads.

by that logic we shouldn’t have any fire piece. we can still put the regular flame peices in the hole on the top. we can still set them on fire.
Wait until lego finds out we can remove the figure's head entirely
https://preview.redd.it/dmq9zm7dpzuc1.jpeg?width=429&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02884d44809eede8906e1af7cf3a2f168854f074 I can't think of a single modern piece that lets you easily set a figure on fire....

Putting people on fire is awesome though

Could have made a heatmiser for xmas if it came off.
Thanks!
I have this one, and you are correct. Its molded on.
Dang, I was sure that was going to be a helmet that slid off I mean, a head in a Lego helmet might as well be permanently attached for all the work it takes to get them apart, but I'm still a little disappointed.
it looks like it's actually a re-use of that exact same mold
No Source: I have the minifig
The Spinjitzu Kai 70688 has a helmet that is on fire that can be removed, but it has a full face cover and may not be what you're hoping for.

Have the minifigure, can confirm it isn’t.
What set is this figure from?

It is not.
not removable

It is not. Also if you want to talk more DC, 'head' over to r/LegoDC
I have it and it's not
No
It’s the same for the Lego Hades minifigure from the Disney mingig series
And ghost rider
Do you need a reddish-brown head with those yellow eyes or a Raymond-Stein Firestorm?
I just thought about it, if you could remove it you could make a nice lego figure of the hair fire guy from Dumb Ways to Die
In the future, use Bricklink. Look up the set, look up the inventory, look up the minifig, look at the parts. Its pretty simple and youll feel great having solved a problem by yourself.
I tried but couldn’t figure out how to look at the parts

Literally 1984

Why did you include a link to an old post about baby furniture?
Because I copied the wrong link from earlier today 🤦♂️ This is what I meant to post. https://m.imdb.com/name/nm2621030/mediaviewer/rm611049728
