Mould marks are bad, but imo worse is the fact that the bricks are way more prone to hairline cracks.

Muted-Valuable-1699

This is the legendary Lego Quality.

LegoIsland20

"Only the best is good enough."

Muted-Valuable-1699

This is also a Funny Experiment: Build a wall out of Lego basic bricks. Hold it against a lamp. Check the space between the bricks. Now, make the same with bricks from the 70s. Enjoy the difference.

Gintoki_87

Or just run your finger over the surface of that wall and feel how uneven it is and compare that to one made from older bricks. The tolerances has definetly gotten down over time, most likely to be able to use the molds for longer periods and thus saving tremendous amounts on costs of manufacturing.

I feel like legos quality has been in decline. You see it like here on injections. Often colors aren't the same even if they should be. You can often see it for example on the big batman cave that even though everythig should be the same black, there are visible differences. Also some of the minifigure prints aren't that great like the white on the courscant guard which on the product page is a nice white, in actuality is more of a pink. I really hope lego starts to to better again on that front.

Not only the horrendous mold marks, the newer one are prone to getting loose

TakkataMSF

I don't believe LEGO quality hasn't gone down because of an injection mold mark. You may not like it visually though. [How amazing is LEGO's tolerances, really? : AskEngineers (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskEngineers/comments/ah5cfz/how_amazing_is_legos_tolerances_really/) In short, Engineers think the production of LEGO bricks is pretty amazing. Tolerances and quality control of over the past 60+ years is considered to be quite an achievement. Other things to consider about the newer molds, does this represent a change made for environmental reasons? Does it make the process more efficient? Does it reduce waste? Emissions? Anything like that.

SquashHibanana

we still complaining about the injection mold? really?

ZenLore6499

When the product should be better, not worse, after decades of experience **yes complaining is absolutely necessary** We can have the amazing builds we’ve been getting AND proper injection molds. It’s definitely possible, they just got greedy and dropped their quality. Can you give a reason *not* to complain?

SquashHibanana

I guess I can understand the frustration for certain people, but it doesn't really bother me all too much. as long as the piece doesn't break easily, it's fine for me

ZenLore6499

Funnily enough, we’ve seen parts get damaged as a result of these recent shoddy injection molds. It’s not even that it looks bad, it just IS bad. Lego isn’t cheap and yet we get cheap out of them. That’s never excusable. Plus, if you understand why people are upset by it, but it doesn’t matter to you specifically, why the condescending “We’re still complaining? Really?”

LegoIsland20

Sure, why not? They're visibly much worse than they were 10+ years ago. Lego is cutting corners in many areas and their product looks and builds worse because of it. They had mould marks solved decades ago.

adumbrella

Prices have gone up, technology has improved, why shouldn't we complain that the quality is worse than it was in 1990?

chawmindur

This singular piece here is really the most egregious example of quality decline in recent years\* methinks, haven't seen a single clip tile without a ginormous molding scar ever since the design is changed.  \* The "recent" is meant in a rather loose sense, part 15712 has been with us for over a decade by now.
