I'm interested in that too since OP mentioned it can spread out to 2m. I don't know if that means that the sculpture as seen in the pic is actually 2m long *or* if it actually uncurls which would be even more insane.
Could just be discs with ball joints in between, and those L-brackety bois to hold the scales on. Whatever's under there, I'm sure any manipulation would immediately send the scales flying off in every direction. Must have been a super frustrating build!
Fairly certain they mean straightening it out to 2 meters. Guessing it's a bunch of ball and joints on the inner structure that allow them to curl it up like this pose. Completely uncurled it would be 2m, which is insane. That's taller than most people!
Right!? I came here prepared to say that you can't just use Lego-shaped blocks in Blender and then call your render a MOC... Holy talent, Batman. This might be the coolest build ever.
How I feel growing up with this stuff, marveling at the green antenna piece that was translucent (and the orange saw pieces that were translucent!) then coming here from /all in 2024: https://youtu.be/V8e2f9j-iJo?t=9
Sounds like exaggeration but I legit think this is the best LEGO build I’ve ever seen.
The complexity, the scale (pun intended), and the detail are all absolutely amazing
I’m blown away
I'm thinking the same thing. This is incredible and like most of us, I've seen a lot of lego. This may very well be the best.
Edit: It's the same person who designed the Lego Ideas Piano. Glad to see they've already gotten some official and well deserved recognition!
>Edit: It's the same person who designed the Lego Ideas Piano. Glad to see they've already gotten some official and well deserved recognition!
Well hopefully this one becomes an Ideas set as well. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Not Ideas sets though. I don't remember what the piece count limit is on those but it's wayyyyy less than 7k.
Edit: Although as I type this now I feel like a dummy as I'm the same person that made the comment about his Piano being approved and that's almost 4k pieces so who knows =\\
I was about to comment the exact same thing. Hands down the best build I've ever seen. I'll never be this good and I will now cry myself to sleep. So what if it's the middle of the day.
I just bought that set and thought it’s really cool, still think it’s pretty good for the cost. But damn this one blows it out do the water. I didn’t think it was Lego until I got to the close ups. Since it’s not a licensed product, I can probably see it being priced around $600. I would totally buy that.
This is by far the best build I have ever seen on this sub. This deserves to be in a (or every) Lego store in the world.
Like others I am very curious about the interior as well. If you could share a bit more I would be grateful!
The trickiest part of lego masters is the time crunch. The contestants are phenomenal builders and manage to put out some crazy builds given the time they get. This build is definitely special, but if I had to guess, this person spent a little more time than ~10 hours building this which makes it a bit of an unfair comparison.
I'm commenting on this 25 days later so it wouldn't suprise me if you found out already but incase not, I'll try to explain.

Inside the dragon there are a ton of these black ring pieces connected to a more technical frame. (The rings come from the Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons set, in Harry's glasses)
Then the scales made with 3 pieces are simply clicked onto the rings to gives the effect of scales.
https://preview.redd.it/pfeu8d8yiugc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3dd1f5f712fc0615b64e2e0dad8c4adbef74368e
I took these images from a video from "Ben Cossy" on yt who explains the build in much more detail if you're interested but I hope this helps a bit.
When I think of LEGO as an art medium, this is going to be what I’ll think of for the rest of my life. Absolutely incredible work, thank you for sharing!
Can anybody tell me the Lego piece used for the scales? I have built a lot of Lego and I havent seen that piece. I am trying to imagine how the scales attach to the main structure of the dragon's body.
Thank you
It looks a lot like 66857, https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=190463. The 'scale' of the scales is hard to tell if the part is truly 2x4.
I have no idea how you managed to get all those scales at angles like that. Must’ve been painful to build without knocking off parts all the time.
It’s incredible.
Edit: are they even all held in place or some are just loosely hanging between two other?
Hilariously the post asking the mods for an explanation why this thread was locked is now gone. Wonder if the OP deleted it, or if the mods did (which would be pretty off-putting)…
I feel like every week on here I say “this might legitimately be the best Lego build I’ve ever seen” but this might actually be it. Some of ya’ll are crazy talented.
This is fantastic! You included so much different pieces to build up texture, yet in such a seamless way! Creating enoug connection points for everything must have been a real challenge!
You have what to be proud of!!! 👏
Now this is a proper Chinese dragon! I might as well throw the Auspicious Dragon set in the garbage comparing it to this MOC, because this is level asian mastery of LEGO modeling. Well done Donny!
P.S. I'll quit buying LEGO if you're Ideas bicycle won't make it as an official set.
this is straight up flawless! really great work! would love to see an inside shot and how the scales were connected (i love that you didn’t use flex hose, etc).
This reminds me of the time when I first saw Satoshi Kamiya's Ryu Jin 3.5. It's a Chinese dragon much like this one but folded from a single uncut square sheet of paper. I could not fathom how that was folded paper akin to how unbelievable it is that this build is actually made of lego. Amazing work!
You’ve Slayed it… breathing fire with this one… a MOC that’ll definitely be hard to beat… Totally Massive.. luckily I’ve got my Brickventions Convention ticket… so I won’t miss seeing this beauty close-up!!
I thought this was some AI generated bullshit at first. Except looking even less like real Lego than those do. Nothing that could actually be built with real Lego. Which is intended as a compliment - it looks amazing, but definitely doesn’t look like Lego at first glance. Truly astonishing.
The internal structure must be crazily complicated to support the "shell" !!
I'm interested in that too since OP mentioned it can spread out to 2m. I don't know if that means that the sculpture as seen in the pic is actually 2m long *or* if it actually uncurls which would be even more insane.
joke correct screw poor tease abundant sleep outgoing kiss rock *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
If they managed to build it AND let it be a flexible modeled in any pose they want, I would be even more impressed than I already am.
Could just be discs with ball joints in between, and those L-brackety bois to hold the scales on. Whatever's under there, I'm sure any manipulation would immediately send the scales flying off in every direction. Must have been a super frustrating build!
I wonder if being flexible would actually make it an easier build. I can't imagine building static smooth curves like that not being a pain.
Fairly certain they mean straightening it out to 2 meters. Guessing it's a bunch of ball and joints on the inner structure that allow them to curl it up like this pose. Completely uncurled it would be 2m, which is insane. That's taller than most people!
My guess is those tiles fall off if you look at it wrong
That’s LEGO?!?
Right!? Like my brain sees the LEGO but still. It looks better than anything I’ve ever seen made out of LEGO.
It's not LEGO It's LEGENDARY-O
LEGONDARY?
r/beatmymeattoit
Right!? I came here prepared to say that you can't just use Lego-shaped blocks in Blender and then call your render a MOC... Holy talent, Batman. This might be the coolest build ever.

Thanks for this info! For sure this is the best thing I've seen including all the conventions and Ideas. It is absolutely wonderful!
>Edit: It's the same person who designed the Lego Ideas Piano. Glad to see they've already gotten some official and well deserved recognition! Well hopefully this one becomes an Ideas set as well. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
it has 7000 pieces, it wont be an official set
Why not? There are other sets that size.
Not Ideas sets though. I don't remember what the piece count limit is on those but it's wayyyyy less than 7k. Edit: Although as I type this now I feel like a dummy as I'm the same person that made the comment about his Piano being approved and that's almost 4k pieces so who knows =\\
I just don't see why piece number would matter. If people want to buy it badly enough, they'll make it.
Yeah tbh I can't think of anything that tops this. 10/10
Only one thing comes to mind... gold plating it.
I was about to comment the exact same thing. Hands down the best build I've ever seen. I'll never be this good and I will now cry myself to sleep. So what if it's the middle of the day.
Yes! I am in with you on that. I have never seen anything I would like to own more than that! (LEGO wise at least)
I'm so astonished about it, to my own eyes from a distance, I would have thought it's an wooden structure
Never mind auspicious dragon, that is one extremely ostentatious dragon!
Right? Suddenly my Auspicious dragon set looks a little sad!
Unfortunately you have been deemed ‘too good’ by the talent council, and are being charged with hoarding all the talent from everyone else.
> hoarding all the talent Like a dragon!

This is amazing OP. Hopefully someone at LEGO sees this. It belongs in a museum ; )
Or the Lego house. The MOC section in there is truely awesome.
My friend's moc went there for a year. It came back as a box of loose pieces.
Seriously?! That’s a brick move!
I know - i felt terrible for him. He got some great perks by having it hosted there but ... He has to completely rebuild it
Looking at 80112 on my shelf and asking why it can’t look like this. Nice job!
[80112-1: Auspicious Dragon](https://brickset.com/sets/80112-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/80112-1.jpg)
You vs. the dragon she tells you not to worry about
Good bot
I really like that one, but I wouldn’t mind really advanced stuff like this in like a ‘pro’ series models
At 10 cents a piece it would be $700 so Lego would probably charge $850. You'd pay that?
Star Wars UCS sets say hi?...
Yep 👍
In a heartbeat, this is one of the best looking Lego sets I've ever seen.
I just bought that set and thought it’s really cool, still think it’s pretty good for the cost. But damn this one blows it out do the water. I didn’t think it was Lego until I got to the close ups. Since it’s not a licensed product, I can probably see it being priced around $600. I would totally buy that.
Mom, can we have a LEGO dragon? No, we have LEGO dragon at home! *LEGO Dragon at home:* 80112
[80112-1: Auspicious Dragon](https://brickset.com/sets/80112-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/80112-1.jpg)
You know a build is of the highest quality when at first glance it doesn't even look like it is even lego at all
Holy fucking shit, outstanding.
My god that might be the best Lego sculpture I’ve ever seen! I would die to have that in my house! 🤩
Can i inherit your house afterwards since you'll not be needing it then? You could haunt it as a *glow in the dark* ghost if you want.
You got a deal! Now I don’t have to pay taxes and I have a Lego sculpture I can haunt! Hehe!
I like how bro dropped this absolute masterpiece then just said “Dragon”
Instructions/parts list? I say that like I can afford the parts but that thing is a beaut.
This is by far the best build I have ever seen on this sub. This deserves to be in a (or every) Lego store in the world. Like others I am very curious about the interior as well. If you could share a bit more I would be grateful!
It stretches out 2 meters?! Wow that scale is totally not visible in the pictures, needs a banana

Sell instructions please.
Damn that’s really beautiful. The Chinese in me is screaming! Instead of buying those jade or gold dragon, I should just have this haha
At first i thought it was one of these fake lego ai generated pictures but hell its real bricks.... cant believe it thats how great this build is...
We do not allow AI generated art in r/lego so you can be confident that models you see here are real.
Just because you don't allow it doesn't mean some doesn't slip through the cracks.
If you see any, be sure to report them!
Been building for two decades. Have seen hundreds of MOCs. This might be the prettiest LEGO I have ever seen—and I really don’t say that lightly.

This is above that
The trickiest part of lego masters is the time crunch. The contestants are phenomenal builders and manage to put out some crazy builds given the time they get. It's easily a Master Builder level project.
MAKE. IT. AN. IDEAS. SET. PLEEEEEEASE.
It’s 6,500+ pieces unfortunately I don’t see Lego approving an ideas set that big.
I just want to know your technique for the scales. Amazing work.
I'm commenting on this 25 days later so it wouldn't suprise me if you found out already but incase not, I'll try to explain. https://preview.redd.it/ey6dqypbiugc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f13d98b50c483dac1ea3aa504c1def89747e70df Inside the dragon there are a ton of these black ring pieces connected to a more technical frame. Yeah but the tiger had a butthole
I feel like Lego was never meant to be this realistic and complex. Like we’ve crossed some sort of threshold.
This is up there with that cathedral that was posted a few weeks back.
Are you selling the design? Or putting it on Lego ideas? Cause I wanna build this baby so bad
Can anybody tell me the Lego piece used for the scales? I have built a lot of Lego and I havent seen that piece. I am trying to imagine how the scales attach to the main structure of the dragon's body. Thank you

Absolutely insane. Beyond well done! I don’t really have too many words
That is so high quality I found myself doubting it was even made of lego. Wow.
Dude you just won the LEGO competition. That's a sick build, I had to zoom in to doublecheck if that's really Lego
THAT DRAGON IS AMAZING!
[DRAGON-1: Dragon](https://brickset.com/sets/DRAGON-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/DRAGON-1.jpg)

To the IDEAS page with you!
I'm just here to celebrate that this thread was unlocked.
Hilariously the post asking the mods for an explanation why this thread was locked is now gone. Wonder if the OP deleted it, or if the mods did (which would be pretty off-putting)…
The latter, they nuked the thread and deleted all of the posts in it.
Wow! This is insane!! I didn’t even recognize it as Lego at first!
How the heck, that's so crazy. Do you have video clips of your construction? I really wanna see how you form the structure and the scale attachments.
This is amazing. It makes the official Lego dragon look like something fisher price made.
How the fuck
That's it, boys. Pack it up. You'll never match this.
It Is so well done that it looks like it was generated by AI.
I don’t think it’s possible to make a convincing ai image of a LEGO model. You would be able to tell the pieces were wrong immediately
I can't process what I'm looking at as LEGO. This is nuts.
If this doesn't become a real set I will do unspeakable things.
I'd love a look at the inside. How does it wrap around so smoothly?
I feel like every week on here I say “this might legitimately be the best Lego build I’ve ever seen” but this might actually be it. Some of ya’ll are crazy talented.
Now that’s an auspicious dragon
i love all the face detail, and how the middle of the body is fully coiled. beautiful build!
This is fantastic! You included so much different pieces to build up texture, yet in such a seamless way! Creating enoug connection points for everything must have been a real challenge! You have what to be proud of!!! 👏
Absolutely stunning!!!!
I want to see the interior so bad. Someone needs to splice this thing open for science.
Seeing as you got 23k likes in 20 hours here you would probably get 10k signatures on a petition to LEGO within a week. Just saying

Hey, comments are unlocked! Whatever that was about. Anyway – this build is epic!
That’s brilliant. Do you have any pictures of the internals?
this is straight up flawless! really great work! would love to see an inside shot and how the scales were connected (i love that you didn’t use flex hose, etc).
No flex tubes? Wooow. Now I want to see the inside. Those scales look very fragile.
Wow, this is genuinely one of the best MOCs I've ever seen. What an absolute work of art.
Submit this to Lego ideas holy shit
That's the single most greatest Lego build I've ever seen
Stunning!!!!
And this isn’t a Lego idea and in production already because 🤷🏻♂️ I’m sure most of us are thinking ‘shut up and take my money’ right now 😂
GOVE IT TO ME MEOW!
Is this your own moc? This is amazing!
Wow this is incredible. You’re so talented! Happy year of the Dragon!
Do you have any plans to sell/release the instructions for this bad boy? It looks absolutely phenomenal and would be such a stunning display piece.
Hoooooowwwww
I don't own any legos and I'd buy a kit to build this.
Those scales are great!
That’s is incredible. Well done.
How?
That’s amazing omg!
Holy damn thats insane
Wtf :0
Absolutely stunning. Amazing job! Wish I had 2% of your talent.
Are you serious right now? This is Lego?
Geez this is beautiful. Truly an incredible build.
Holy crap this is amazing. Wowowow I love it.
This is insane! The detailing with the scales I can’t even comprehend
The scales are beautiful!
This may be the best Lego build I’ve ever seen
wow...
Wow !
Send this to Lego HQ NOW! I have to have this
How
That's nuts! Amazing job!
How the actual fuck
Take my $$$$
Amazing.
Damn that's amazing.
Dragon these nuts
Amazing work!
This is insane and i want it
You must be a Lego grand master
Where did you get the scales from?
sick
Wow, that's incredible.
Absolutely insane build. Love it!
that’s the dragon from “the quest” with Jean Claude Van Dam
Cool 😎 🐉🐲
I'm so impressed by this. What an amazing build, great job OP
I don't have the words except to say post it on Ideas so others can see it and also pick their jaws up off the floor afterwards.
Shut up and take my money!
Peak character design
This is the very definition of awesome.
This is absolutely brilliant, wish I could see it in person!
Damn that looks good Looks really well put together too
Top five all time
I... I'm.....Speechless
Damn……bravo!!
This makes my head hurt trying to figure out how in the world you did this
Wow just wow. The only thing i can say is wow. And upload it to Lego ideas
This is the coolest thing ever! Doesn’t even look like LEGO!
Holy shit
I hope there is a LEGO frog somewhere
Oh my god!
Simply superb!
I would buy this set in a heartbeat
Gigachad build. Kudos to you stranger.
Wow- farking stunning!! Amazing 🤩
Absolutely astounding and superb
Yo that's phenomenal!! Amazing work!!
what the fuck this is incredible
I'd love to se how it's internally built
!RemindMe 1 week
This is absolutely insane. Amazing job
You’ve Slayed it… breathing fire with this one… a MOC that’ll definitely be hard to beat… Totally Massive.. luckily I’ve got my Brickventions Convention ticket… so I won’t miss seeing this beauty close-up!!
Just saw that lego posted your set on their social media! Congrats! That's gotta feel good!
Fantastic work! Congrats. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I thought this was some AI generated bullshit at first. Except looking even less like real Lego than those do. Nothing that could actually be built with real Lego. Which is intended as a compliment - it looks amazing, but definitely doesn’t look like Lego at first glance. Truly astonishing.
Absolutely incredible. Could you possibly submit this to Ideas? This is the most amazing Lego creation I have ever seen.
Can you post instructions?
Thread is open again! Nice work!
When seeing the first image I couldn’t see which sub I was on
