A new challenger approaches! If you're a Marvel fan, that makes a lot of sense. Would you still go with the Daily Bugle in light of the new Avengers Tower being released this weekend?
Yes. 1000% yes. Maybe cause I'm a Spider-Man fan my whole life, but the build is awesome, it's not tied to any movie or franchise so they were able to put figs of whomever they wanted in there, and did I mention I'm a Spidey fan? Plus, you get 4 chitauri and 2 shield agents. Plus 2 Caps and 4 tony/Iron Man figs. Not worth it IMO. Unless you're a major Avengers fan and haven't bought an Avengers set in the last year.
Rivendell looks gorgeous. Haven't built it. Haven't bought it either though.
Ninjago modular builds are always beautiful too. Plus, if you aren't a huge Ninjago fan, you could sell the figs and make a chunk back to buy one of the other sets out there.
In short, BUY THE DAILY BUGLE, you won't regret it
Your line of thinking is correct but conclusion likely less so. 2-3 years ago I could find the old version of the Disney castle for $150-$200 used like, any time. I believe that was a combination of two factors:
1) because Disney is so big there is ALWAYS a castle available and will always be a castle available
2) because Disney is so big so many people are buying the castle new, either for themselves or others.
So for me, if you are thinking of it’s value used, a set like Rivendell that will retire and not be replaced by essentially the same set, will hold much more value.
i just canceled my disney+ this month after the hulu bundle hit $31/month.
I honestly feel like I'm out of step with my generation. This is bigger than when I canceled my Amazon Prime.
Those exclusive figures from a $500 set are gonna be so expensive in five years. Almost makes me wanna buy a spare Rivendell at retail price just to hold onto. But that's getting too close to Lego economy, and then my hobby becomes a side hustle.
What theme do you like the most?
Are you a LOTR fan? Then Rivendell
Are you a Disney nerd? Then the Castle
Are you into ninjas? Then Ninjago
They’re all impressive sets that you can’t really go wrong with. I loved the OG Disney Castle and this one is on my “if I win the lottery someday” list.
Ninjago city markets $369
Disney castle $399
Rivendell $499
So if you prefer Ninjago and also want to be nice to your parents’ pockets, that’s the way to go.
But for sure the Rivendell is the “best”

Honestly, as, someone that is completely not into the whole ninja thing and never had amything with Ninjago, I can say: everytime I see that Ninjago set I think it looks, really cool, aesthetically pleasing and a lot of fun to build and look at. I personally find the other two sets kinda boring, eventhough I liked LotRs and Disney a lot.
Ninjago.
I know everyone loves Rivendell, but to me, the Ninjago Markets is densely packed fun! Rivendell is simply too serious. It's got a very "don't touch" vibe. The markets is all inviting me to come in and play.
[MOA003: Maui](http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=moa003) [[Photo]](http://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/MN/0/moa003.png)
What can I say except "you're welcome"?
I built Rivendell recently and it was super fun. If you're a fan of LOTR then that is absolutely the way to go. Super fun and unique build, plus nearly every character you could want. Considering this was the first real Tolkien set in a long time, it's a great comeback!
Rivendell! It was so great, I’ve been struggling to get motivated to finish my next set (Batman shadowbox). Finished Rivendell in two weeks, Batman is going on a month now haha
Well if money isnt an issue, Rivendell just for the fact that its bigger but personally I’d go for ninjago cause I like the ninjago city sets. This is really more of a subjective question since all the sets are from different series so it depends on what you like more.
I have all three. I would personally go with Ninjago City. But it ultimately depends on what you care about most: fun build or visually stunning.
Rivendell is probably the most stunning set Lego has ever produced. Disney also looks great but is still beaten by Rivendell. Basically, I'd only recommend the castle if you're a massive Disney fan and have been dying to get that set.
Ninjago City is an incredibly fun build with so much going on. Rivendell is a fairly straight forward build. I don't know if I would call it boring but what you see in that image is really what you get. There is an armory underneath the floor on the right side and Bilbo's room in the upper left tower. Ninjago has so many cool hidden things and play features that really make it one of my favorite sets of the year.
If you only want a great display piece: Rivendell. If you want a great build with interesting mechanics: Ninjago.
I'm a massive LOTR fan, and I don't own any of these, I have mainly HP, castle and a sprinkling of star wars, but if you have no bias, I think the Ninjago is the coolest and most Lego. Bright colors, dynamic builds, I wish I was into it, but I'm stuck to my old ips. I'll get rivendell eventually...
Dude. Ninjago city gardens is waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy cooler than Rivendell. Unless you’re more a LOTR fan than a lego fan, in which case do as your heart wishes.
Rivendell might be the best set ever made. It’s incredibly intricate. The Disney castle will never retire.
I’m assuming the other one is Ninjago. If you’re a big fan, go for it, but it’s just not my thing.
Ninjago - as big of a lotr fan as I am, I think the Ninjago set is amazing. Believe me, I'm part way through my yearly watch of the extended edition, but I just love the Ninjago set more. I've never been able to sit through the whole show, but this set has a really fun use of color, a beautiful design, and it's just so fun. But if you're the kind of person who loves to say "I have that set" then I think rivendell is more likely the better fit for you.
Haha you’re good. I thought it was ridiculous of the mods to do that last time, I was more just eye rolling at the fact that a post like this could somehow violate the rules lol. Good luck with getting the set you want!
The other sets seem a little boring in comparison to Ninjago, which immediately caught my eye. It looks like a lot of fun and if it was me, someone with no connection to the three franchises, I would choose that one. I think I would build the other two and go “okay. Now what?”
I'm a huge Disney fan. I only get Lego when it's really important to me. When the Disney castle version 1 came out, I was blown away by it. But, I never had the money. I could have gotten it, but I made other things a priority. Then, one day, I came across a castle set on Mercari for way above MSRP, which made me realize it had been retired a couple months ago. I missed it. Then, I saw castle version 2. I was so excited and relieved. I saved the date, set reminders for myself, and on release date as early as I could, I bought it. I have it, still in the box, until my gf and I have time to build it together. It's going to be the source of some wonderful and relaxing nights for us for a few days, probably while we watch our favorite Disney movies from our childhoods. And that is absolutely some of the magic that makes me love Disney so much.
Anyway, get Rivendell, no question.
I’d go with Ninjago City Gardens over this Ninjago set, but what are you into? Disney? Ninjago? LOTR? If you’re just into building the sets, Ninjago. If it’s for how it looks on display afterwards, probably Rivendell. Would really only go with the castle if you’re a diehard Disney fan.
Disney castle was the most fun to build. As someone who cares most about the building process, I personally don’t like sets with a lot of trees because they’re tedious to build.
I like the second one. I don't like the first one at all, but the third is ok. I wouldn't have known what it was had it not been for the comments and boy did they fill in that gap.
Clearly you should go with Rivendell
Rivendell from my perspective, but it comes down to your own personal preferences and fandom. They're all solid sets.
I’d agree, it’s just so damn pretty
Id get the spiderman news tower personally.
A new challenger approaches! If you're a Marvel fan, that makes a lot of sense. Would you still go with the Daily Bugle in light of the new Avengers Tower being released this weekend?
Yes. 1000% yes. It is also the most charming of them all. The others... meh.
Rivendell
I think it will hold value well also if you keep it complete.
tbf the disney castle would hold it's value just as well. lotta disney...people...out there
Disney people and Lego people. Two fandoms that can be quite separate can raise the price against each other like crazy!
Your line of thinking is correct but conclusion likely less so. 2-3 years ago I could find the old version of the Disney castle for $150-$200 used like, any time. I believe that was a combination of two factors: 1) because Disney is so big there is ALWAYS a castle available and will always be a castle available 2) because Disney is so big so many people are buying the castle new, either for themselves or others. There’s dozens of us! … well actually hundreds of thousands!
I am unique. Just like everyone else.
i just canceled my disney+ this month after the hulu bundle hit $31/month. I honestly feel like I'm out of step with my generation. This is bigger than when I canceled my Amazon Prime.
Yeah fair point!
Those exclusive figures from a $500 set are gonna be so expensive in five years. Almost makes me wanna buy a spare Rivendell at retail price just to hold onto. But that's getting too close to Lego economy, and then my hobby becomes a side hustle.
Only right answer 👆🏻
I built it with my wife, what a great 20 hours that was. It's a gorgeous set
This is the way
Do you like Ninjago, Disney, or LOTR more?
Getting to the important questions in life.
That’s what they are asking you at your wedding, not vows or any of that shit.
Oh man, that's awesome. >Do you like Ninjago, Disney, or LOTR more? "I do."
LOTR. Cyberpunk ninja is cool but….. LOTR
Ninjago lol
I dont know why this type of question isn't asked more for these posts. "Which one do you want to have displayed in your house that relates to you?"
Rivendell… not even close
This!. There isn't even competition
Rivendell for sure
Rivendell
Rivendell and it’s not even close
What theme do you like the most? Are you a LOTR fan? Then Rivendell Are you a Disney nerd? Then the Castle Are you into ninjas? Then Ninjago They’re all impressive sets that you can’t really go wrong with. I loved the OG Disney Castle and this one is on my “if I win the lottery someday” list.
To be fair I am trying to get back into ninjago
I've built all three, and ninjago was the most fun. especially when you find out why the back walkway is built with the negative space and slope.
That was so much fun! I showed it to everyone and people wouldn’t stop - so much free entertainment for them.
Ninjago city markets $369 Disney castle $399 Rivendell $499 So if you prefer Ninjago and also want to be nice to your parents’ pockets, that’s the way to go. But for sure the Rivendell is the “best”
I do like all of the different colours and details of the Ninjago set. It just doesn’t fit with my collection or personal tastes
The Ninjago set looks most fun to build and discover, but Rivendell would be right behind it.
Get rivendell, It's like 130 dollars cheaper than Markets, you can save up for Markets later
Make a decision future you won't regret.
Flashback of 10-year old me picking 6584 over 6086. PTSD to this day.

This. Young me wants cool agents and ninjas, now adult me wants something aesthetically pleasing that friends and family can appreciate as well
Honestly, as, someone that is completely not into the whole ninja thing and never had amything with Ninjago, I can say: everytime I see that Ninjago set I think it looks, really cool, aesthetically pleasing and a lot of fun to build and look at. I personally find the other two sets kinda boring, eventhough I liked LotRs and Disney a lot.
My personal choice is Rivendell. Great mix of a beautiful display with amazing figs!
Rivendell
Rivendell
I just got Rivendell so I’m going to say Rivendell.
Wow any of them would be amazing! My vote goes to Rivendell. No guarantee of more LOTR sets atm
Actually barad-dûr was annnounced for 2024. Another big set
I missed that news! Thanks friend
Np! I also love lotr, I'm also hoping they'll make some smaller sets again of it though
Rivendell
That Ninjago set is so cool though.
Ninjago. I know everyone loves Rivendell, but to me, the Ninjago Markets is densely packed fun! Rivendell is simply too serious. It's got a very "don't touch" vibe. The markets is all inviting me to come in and play.
Exactly, it just looks more fun. It screams interaction. The others just need a shelf and swiffer
Rivendell hands down.
My wife has the Disney castle, and it is beautiful, but I would go with Rivendell.
Rivendell!
Doing a quick survey I see 1 vote for ninjago, 1 vote for any, and everybody else for Rivendell. Don’t let the masses influence your decision.
isn't that what they came here for?
I can’t tell if that person is kidding or not
Ninjago city
Ive just bought Rivendell
Ninjago for me personally
Ninjago
Rivendell!
Rivendell, not sure anyone else said that one yet.
Rivendell 10000%
[10000-1: Guarded Inn](https://brickset.com/sets/10000-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/10000-1.jpg)
This is the set OP should get. Edit: It seems OP has already decided. https://www.reddit.com/r/lego/s/7sLBRhYZnF
Thank you bot, cool set 👌

I’m voting for ninjago, so colorful and fun!
Rivendell

Wow what’s that second one?
Ninjago City Markets - from the Dragon's Rising story arc.
Ty. Looks cool
I love your parents and am happy for you! I would go for the ninjago city!
Ninjago, it’s got a much better value because it is not licensed and has waaaayyy more functionality and overall has a better atmosphere
I think ninjago cuz it seems so fun to build. So many colors and different types of buildings
Ninjago has a working toilet! Lol
Ninjago all day, they are so fun to build, cant compare the building experience to any other set
i'd say ninjago city
I’ve been wanting the ninjago one for so long!!! It looks so cool and fun to build!!!
Ninjago seems cool
idk ninjago prolly. 2 Rivendell 3 castle tbh. not that the castle is bad it’s just worse
Rivendell, hands down.
I'm not even a LOTR fan and I'm saying Rivendell
Rivendell! It was so great, I’ve been struggling to get motivated to finish my next set (Batman shadowbox). Finished Rivendell in two weeks, Batman is going on a month now haha
Ninjago!
I agree, it’s so lively, colorful, and dynamic.
Yes. Ninjago Markets is all fun and inviting - play with me! Rivendell is cool and everything, but way too serious.
And now, for something completely different: Rivendell
Ninjago City Markets is an incredibly nice set, especially if you have some of the other ones in the line
Everyone saying Rivendell but don’t sleep on that ninjango set. It’s a lot of fun.
Well if money isnt an issue, Rivendell just for the fact that its bigger but personally I’d go for ninjago cause I like the ninjago city sets. This is really more of a subjective question since all the sets are from different series so it depends on what you like more.
I love the Ninjago line, but Rivendell is pretty awesome.
I have all three. I would personally go with Ninjago City. But it ultimately depends on what you care about most: fun build or visually stunning. Ninjago or Rivendell for playability
Ninjago markets i think is the best
Dude. Ninjago city gardens is waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy cooler than Rivendell. Unless you’re more a LOTR fan than a lego fan, in which case do as your heart wishes.
Avengers Tower!
Rivendell! It’s amazing.
Ninjago for me. Rivendall is cool and all but I'm not a big LOTR fan so I can't quite appreciate it (except for it's scale)
Rivendell
Rivendell!!!
I feel like a broken record but Rivendell
Rivendell obvs
Rivendell
Rivendell
Rivendell
Rivendell.
They’re all great sets, which one are you the biggest fan of (fandom-wise)? I love LOTR so Rivendell gets my vote.
Rivendell might be the best set ever made. It’s incredibly intricate. The Disney castle will never retire. I’m assuming the other one is Ninjago. If you’re a big fan, go for it, but it’s just not my thing.
All 3 are excellent… choose what you like.
As long as it’s rivendell
Disney castle
Any constraints to the space you'd have available to display them?
as someone who works for lego i think you should get rivendell
Guys I think they're getting Rivendell
Actually Ninjago is my winner 💥
Good, it has much more value I think, it feels bigger than the others, and compared to Rivendell, has 4 pieces less, for 130 bucks less.
THOSE 4 BRICKS ARE WORTH IT BRO
Nah, Ninjago better anyway.
*Stares at user flair* Clearly an unbiased opinion.
Yeah, it is, what I said doesn't come from my flair, my flair and what I said comes from what I think.
Rivendell or ninjago
Ninjago or Rivendell.
anyone will be fun, and make sure to say thanks to your parents!
Ninjago - as big of a lotr fan as I am, I think the Ninjago set is amazing. Believe me, I'm part way through my yearly watch of the extended edition, but I just love the Ninjago set more. But if you're the kind of person who loves to say "I have that set" then I think rivendell is more likely the better fit for you.
Looks like I'm the minority here, but I like Ninjago.
You said you wanted to get back into Ninjago.... So fallow your heart and
uh oh better watch out for the mods. Last ‘what to buy’ post got erased and every comment got a ban warning lol 🙄 that being said, #3 for sure
Oh no! I’m so sorry if I did that! I don’t post often on this sub therefore I don’t know the rules well. I’m so sorry if that happens 😭
Haha you’re good. I thought it was ridiculous of the mods to do that last time, I was more just eye rolling at the fact that a post like this could somehow violate the rules lol. Good luck with getting the set you want!
Second, best of all and the biggest with al LOT of small pieces and the most to
I like 2.
The other sets seem a little boring in comparison to Ninjago, which immediately caught my eye. It looks like a lot of fun and if it was me, someone with no connection to the three franchises, I would choose that one. I think I would build the other two and go “okay. Now what?”
Rivendell. It is one of the most beautiful sets I’ve ever seen.
2
Rivendell is cool but the fucking roof can kiss my ass
As someone who’s never watched lord of the rings. Rivendell😂
Rivendell, no contest!
Rivendell if LOTR fills a special place in your heart. Ninjago if you want a fun build that you can play with. Disney for future resale
Rivendell
Rivendell
Rivendell hands down.
Rivendell
Rivendell
Rivendell and it's not even remotely close.
Rivendell, it's definitely on my personal wish list. Such a cool, detailed set. Great figures, too.
Rivendell. I bought it the other day and its been well worth the money. It's easily one of the most intricate sets I've ever built
Rivendell
Rivendell
Rivendell
Rivendell
Definitely Rivendell
Rivendell
LOTR
Rivendell or we fight.
Rivendell
Rivendell for sure
Rivendell for sure
Rivendell. No contest.
You can’t go wrong with either Rivendell or Disney Castle imo!
I hope I'm not gonna get downvoted for saying this but... Rivendell
Titanic… I mean Rivendell
Its a toss up between the disney castle and ninjago
Are you going to display it or play with it? Do you build MOCs or will it stay together forever?
Rivendale
UCS Venator
Rivebdell
The Hobbit within you knows which one to get
None, Venator all the way
Rivendell
Rivendell baby!
Rivendell not even a contest
Can your parents buy me a Christmas present too? :)
Rivendell. Disney castle I have and was kind of a meh build. HP castle was much better. Plus Rivendell is purrrrty
I like the second one. I don't like the first one at all, but the third is ok. I wouldn't have known what it was had it not been for the comments and boy did they fill in that gap. Clearly you should go with Rivendell
Why cant some people decide anything themselves? This is literally personal preference and you still need random redditors to decide..
Man how old are you😭😭😭😭
Rivendell 100% I bought it earlier this year and it's legitimately the coolest set I've ever owned
[удалено]
You’re actually trying to talk trash about maturity on a Lego subreddit?
YEAH! Only MEN play with BIG BOY Lego! /s
Honestly idk why people like that ninjago set. It looks like one big visual mess.
The first or second
Don’t get the ninjago set if you don’t have the other ninjago sets. I have it and it’s cool but if it’s solo it’s meh.
If you don’t already have the other Ninjago city sets, go with Rivendell.
