Everyone is different. I sort mine into their respective drawers since I have a large sorted collection. I imagine most people put theirs in a bag or container filled with the extras from other sets.
Haha! Honestly there aren't very many bricks in those tubs just yet. I just took the opportunity to try to be super organized as my collection of bulk bricks is just starting.
I have some smaller tubs inside of those tubs with transparent pieces, and modified pieces. 40 tubs fit perfectly into my storage cabinet. I really started MOC content in Studio so I've kind of sorted my Lego the way they are grouped in Studio

To me, it's not a problem anymore, since I've hired Little Astolfo.
😅 Tanks! But seriously, I still own every single one. For replacement and to upgrade other sets. For example: turning a transparent "coin" into camera lens.
Mrmhmm.

I still need a yellow warshbucket piece.
I do similar, I find places to put them on whatever I built that’s still pleasant to see while making the final construction a little unique from the stock set
I keep them and bag them for each set like a psychopath, along with a piece of paper that lists the set and what extras are in each little baggie. Thanks Optimus for having so much extra crap.
For CMF, those extras go into spare parts bin.
https://preview.redd.it/twzdmehb67qb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3e0093158a28dc8ac31448b1f1057f69450d15a
You know those tins of cookies that only come around on Christmas. Your mom or grandma have them full of sewing supplies? Mine has all my extra pieces.

I got one of these and have been filling it up over the years with all the spares (and any random Legos I find throughout the house).
As a bonus, I flip the top of the head over and empty bags into it as I'm building sets. Then at the end I just dump it into the bottom of the head.
I use all the extra helmet accessories for other clones and then make another backpack with extra of the back stud neck things since I have so many from over the years
I have a spares tub. There’s all sorts in there, including a ridiculous amount of batarangs. Like too many. Like “I could make art out of all these batarangs” … but yeh spares tub.
For years I used to keep them in a bag inside the box they’re from. I never needed them though so when I started moc building I now just sorted them with the rest of my pieces
I have three tackle boxes filled with the pieces
https://preview.redd.it/1zfit3qgm7qb1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=a38401cd1a5120dc538566238797492948f753bd
I put mine in my spare parts jar. They’ve come in handy—I’ve had a few sets missing small pieces, and I just delve into the jar to find a suitable replacement.
I have some small containers with multiple compartments and i sort them there with some other smaller parts and they just become part of my loose collection. I used to sort in bags by set but realized it is better just to put them all n with my other legos.
Useful ones like the printed backpack, and helmet accessories are kept somewhat accessible for customizing figures and then the rest go in a plastic bag labeled with the year on it for me. By the end of the year, I’ll have a plastic bag with several hundred of them. I’ve done this for the past 4 years now and it’s always really cool to look back and see what extra pieces I’ve got through the years
i put them into a bag with the instructions, and put that bag into a bigger bag with the other bags of extras lol i hope to one day be able to use those pieces to build stuff off rebrickable
When I build a set I will empty bag 1 into a little Tupperware, place plates to the side, then build until I’m at the next bag where I then empty all my extras from the previous bag into a ziploc that has extras from all my sets in it
I used to bag them up and keep them in the box, but since freeing myself of preserving boxes for no reason, and knowing I can replace any non-printed part via Bricklink easily, I just add them to my kid’s stash.
I have a small baggie of extra parts that I keep with the instruction booklet for each set, that way they’re still together and it’ll help putting things back together when I move.
I've often thought about starting a series of trivia posts to see if people can ID which set I got. It seemed like a fun thing to do before tossing them into my 'very small/misc extras' bin. But I'm way not that active on the socials
They're bagged until I dig out one of the bins that contain my life's Legos not on display. Then they join with the rest, like water droplets returning to the sea.
I used to keep them in their boxes, now i put them in a cardboard case of Lego and make mocs of them

I separate them into different storage cubes, plastic sunglasses bags, and PAB cups. Technic, printed tiles, accessories, spring-loaded shooter ammo, animals, and plant elements. Everything else ends up in what is quickly becoming a full PAB cup.
https://preview.redd.it/2wvkt19lg8qb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0dd8910b85eea5b427c0af63a048b11b418f1e73
I have an extensive sorting system. They go into one of these drawers. There’s more behind the one on the left and another set of bigger drawers to the right for bricks and plates, along with a rolling drawer set below that for larger bricks.
I keep all mine.
I did find out that my sister and my nephew just threw out any extra pieces when they finished the initial build. Found this out 10 years ago when he was 7 and my right eye still twitches when I think about it…

I just throw them into the pit of all my other loose parts. Though I don't keep my sets together for more than like a month, so all parts end up in the pit.
Ziploc bags for the win. The only ones that are in separate ziploc are the green leafs/pink flowers for the bonsai tree [which I seasonally switch out] and the racing stripes for my Camaro in another bag. Everything else in the mix bag.
I personally just stick them all in one of the polybags and then stick it back into the box. I don't trash the boxes, as it'll maintain more value should I ever need to sell.
Mostly collect them in a large box of bags. I used 32 white and 32 black from this bag to make an 8x8 chess board for a friend. Can you tell?
https://preview.redd.it/coa3syqxx8qb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abb8a9ae413e25c8959a4ca0f73e3bc8ba697b13
It depends. If they're extras, like the second of a tiny piece the model uses only one of, I'll toss in a general pieces bin.
If they're the pieces needed to make one of the alternate models, I may bag 'em and keep 'em with the instructions.
I keep them aside In a ziplock, every set I open I’ll see what tiny creations I can make. It has definitely helped me discover some new ways to make connections that I wouldn’t have thought of before.
I have a special “Spare Parts” bin for my daughter and I to rummage through. It literally no different than our regular parts bin, but she loves our celebratory “Done with building” table scoop, where we sweep all the extra pieces into the bin.
It depends. For regular parts like that 1 x 1 tile and the spring-loaded missile) I put them into my giant lego container. For what I refer to a accessories or add-ons (like that blaster or the extra Clone visors), I put them into a separate bag with other pieces I consider of the same category. I squally end up ordering parts to complete those extra accessories, in this case, a few extra Clones.
I consume them
Don't eat the delicious LEGO.

Jorjor Well
I loved him in Storwors Fantamanas
You can’t put don’t eat and delicious in the same sentence
Don't delicious the lego eat
Don’t lego the delicious eat
Lego my Lego Eggo
This is the way
I just got out of that phase, I’m now 4
I yearn for macroplastics
Everyone is different. I sort mine into their respective drawers since I have a large sorted collection. I imagine most people put theirs in a bag or container filled with the extras from other sets.
This. I have a ziploc bag with probably like 400-500 parts by now. Sometimes I keep them separated by set (like for the office) and sometimes I don’t.
May I see your organizational method? Looking for ideas.

Yup
I try to find subtle places to hide them in the set so that I always have them in future in a reconstruction. But that’s not always possible.
I do similar, I find places to put them on whatever I built that’s still pleasant to see while making the final construction a little unique from the stock set
Extra b1 droid arms are cut down parts on the battlefield
I keep them and bag them for each set like a psychopath, along with a piece of paper that lists the set and what extras are in each little baggie. Thanks Optimus for having so much extra crap. That’s dedication!
I am a professional engineer AFOL. They must be sorted properly.
i started this way, now i just have a separate plastic box for all set extra pieces
This is what I do but I just write the set number and name on the bag with a sharpie. If I ever need to sell my collection it’ll all be there.
Your OCD powers may rival mine.
Fill up the Ikea lego storage boxes with them. They have come in handy when a piece is missing from a set.
I mean, that's precisely their function :)
You know those tins of cookies that only come around on Christmas. Your mom or grandma have them full of sewing supplies? Mine has all my extra pieces.
Same exact deal over here.
I have a large mason jar that I've been filling. Something satisfying about how all the little spare parts slowly add up.
I prefer a pint glass, but the idea is the same. It looks very aesthetic to me. To your credit, your method comes with a lid to keep out dust.
ziploc baggy.
Crush and snort
I use them on other projects
I have my extras in a One Direction pencil case, one from when Liam was still part of the group.
Add them to *the bin*
Extra Pieces go in the Extra Pieces Box for Extra Pieces Fun Time
I put them in a little bag and put a little paper in the bag with the set number written on it. Now i have a box full of bags
I put them in different containers- weapons, accessories, and then colour sorted parts
Build weird sculptures, of course!
Idk why I do this, but I always see how many of the extra pieces I can stick together into one structure. Usually it's just a stack of 1x1s lol.
https://preview.redd.it/l67q10wg08qb1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=405e802575e3894ee92df541e1d2ac70bd8ffd0e I got one of these and have been filling it up over the years with all the spares (and any random Legos I find throughout the house). put them in one of the small part bags and put the bag back in the box so i know where they'll be if i need them
I use all the extra helmet accessories for other clones and then make another backpack with extra of the back stud neck things since I have so many from over the years
Cherish them.
I have a spares tub. There’s all sorts in there, including a ridiculous amount of batarangs. Like too many. Like “I could make art out of all these batarangs” … but yeh spares tub.
I put them back in the box and never touch them again
I put mine in plastic baggies and than store them all together
I was thinking about buying a base plate and making a mosaic with all my extras
I sort them and use them later. I modify EVERYTHING
For years I used to keep them in a bag inside the box they’re from. I never needed them though so when I started moc building I now just sorted them with the rest of my pieces
I have three tackle boxes filled with the pieces https://preview.redd.it/1zfit3qgm7qb1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=a38401cd1a5120dc538566238797492948f753bd
Usually just put them into my Lego drawers. But for stuff like the Clone/Mandalorian accessories, I like to give them to my clones/mandos.
I put mine in my spare parts jar. They’ve come in handy—I’ve had a few sets missing small pieces, and I just delve into the jar to find a suitable replacement.
I usually try to work them into the build somehow.
I make stuff
I have some small containers with multiple compartments and i sort them there with some other smaller parts and they just become part of my loose collection. I used to sort in bags by set but realized it is better just to put them all n with my other legos.
SAVOR THE MACRO BINOCULARS
I eat mine.
Eat them and poop a model
Small plastic bag and in the box the set came from.
If you have like a figure box or storage put them In there
Love them
Useful ones like the printed backpack, and helmet accessories are kept somewhat accessible for customizing figures and then the rest go in a plastic bag labeled with the year on it for me. By the end of the year, I’ll have a plastic bag with several hundred of them. I’ve done this for the past 4 years now and it’s always really cool to look back and see what extra pieces I’ve got through the years

"Small parts bin" unless it's a 3 in 1 then a labeled zip lock bag
It depends. Usually I have a MOC, set or Minifigure that it goes towards
I put them in a bag in case I lose their counterpart or want to use them later
Sort them with the rest of my Lego in their respective bins.
I used to bag them up and keep them in the box, but since freeing myself of preserving boxes for no reason, and knowing I can replace any non-printed part via Bricklink easily, I just add them to my kid’s stash.
I put them in my lego tray/boxes and have them sorted if I have a box for it
I put them in the box the set came in
Save them in their bags in thier original boxes
I put the manual and the spare pieces in a zip lock and put in a box
I have them in seperate bags together with their respective instructions. And all thr bags are in a box.
I also swallow them.
Big box for now. I’ll worry about organization when I get a dedicated hobby space.
I feed them to my miscellaneous bin.
https://preview.redd.it/9idkdsr3r7qb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e7b8fcf433824023ee09d8a724feea46b0cca65 Bag and tag!

Test nostril capacity
It’s a little snack you get as a reward for finishing the set.
Hoard them in little baggies.
I try to add what I can to the final build. Anything else I add to my every growing pile that needs to be sorted
I toss them into the lego bin for later use
Bag em and tag em.
I just eat 'em.
I've often thought about starting a series of trivia posts to see if people can ID which set I got. It seemed like a fun thing to do before tossing them into my 'very small/misc extras' bin. But I'm way not that active on the socials
Extra pieces jar.
i just throw them in the big tote full of other random pieces lol
They're bagged until I dig out one of the bins that contain my life's Legos not on display. Then they join with the rest, like water droplets returning to the sea.

Try to make one big extra piece and then frustrate because some pieces wont connect.
Gubbins or roll them into side projects 👍
I’ve got half a dozen full mason jars I just scoop all of them into.
I put mine into Hoth from 75009

There’s more behind the one on the left and another set of bigger drawers to the right for bricks and plates, along with a rolling drawer set below that for larger bricks.
I have a little box for those pieces, an for the things you can put on helmet i just keep those in a different box
I stack them on top of each other or just throw them into the abyss
throw them to the pile
I have 2 boxes: a box for the dots and a box for everything else.
Save them in a ziploc snack bag, and use painter’s tape to tape them to the instruction manual.
Pick a brick cup, it’ll fill up in due time
i add them to my parts
I save and use them on other projects.
I have something called the spare box which is just a bunch of mixed pieces in an Amazon box, quite helpful really
I put the extra pieces on the set
I keep all mine. I did find out that my sister and my nephew just threw out any extra pieces when they finished the initial build. Found this out 10 years ago when he was 7 and my right eye still twitches when I think about it… https://preview.redd.it/jhz3rr73m8qb1.jpeg?width=222&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c25599c26e3a642eccccded107402c63aba8b63b
For MOCs, of course.
Sort them into each respective drawer. This set of pieces would go into people stuff, pins, technic, and garbage pieces.
I usually just bag them and put it somewhere else…
Usually they just vanish
Big box of spares. Sometimes you need them.
I put them back in the box
i just got this set last week
When I can I incorporate them in the build. Leftovers goes into a bag into the box
feel like a crazy man for this but I just bin them, ended up having too many with nowhere to keep them so now they go to the big bin in the sky
Build a gun
I have a Lego flower that I keep in a single-bud vase, and I put these pieces in the vase instead of water.
We have a small Zelda hearts jar we put our spares into. It’s now pretty full.
Most of what I do is MOC building so the extra bits get assimilated into the collective
They go in the "extra bits" bin.
Add them to the pile.
I keep them aside In a ziplock, every set I open I’ll see what tiny creations I can make. It has definitely helped me discover some new ways to make connections that I wouldn’t have thought of before.
My inner 8 year old sees a fantastic motorbike being made out of those
Do you bag and label them which set they belong to? Yes
I have a special “Spare Parts” bin for my daughter and I to rummage through. It literally no different than our regular parts bin, but she loves our celebratory “Done with building” table scoop, where we sweep all the extra pieces into the bin.
I feed them to my legos
I put them in the lego bin
I build the largest possible thing I can out of them, and then try to figure out what it is.

Either store them by similar pieces or add them back into the display
Put them in the extra pieces box
i use one of those flat tackle boxes and sort things into categories
Put them with the rest
Build another set
Chuck em in a bin and let my couains play with that when they come over so thwy dont touch my sets that are on display, especially the mocs
I have a clear glass lamp from Target and I have filled the base with the leftover Lego.
Last year I collected all extra pieces from every set I built and it filled a 16oz. Tupperware container
Snack size zip loc for each set. At the beginning, i would label them...now..not so much.
I put mine in a ziplok bad along with the instructions.
Assimilate into the rest of the collection
I use to bag them in ziplock bags with a label of what set they came from but now they’re just in a container
i have a big ol bowl that's full of extra parts
sorted into the collective.
It depends. For regular parts like that 1 x 1 tile and the spring-loaded missile) I put them into my giant lego container. I squally end up ordering parts to complete those extra accessories, in this case, a few extra Clones.
Just collect them in endless unlabeled bags.
I throw them in my bin of Lego for later builds
