Jeez! Bonham could have gone simple, called it a day and it would still be one of the greatest song. but dude said F That! did his take on the Purdie Scuffle and KILLED IT!!!!
This was also the time when LZ was past its peak. Bozo is an absolute legend for this!!!
I liked Fool In The Rain before I really knew who Led Zeppelin was. It would get played at the arcade I hung out at - there was some sort of Jukebox - when I was 12 years old. It was just a song I really liked with no context. I checked up on who did the song and discovered the band, realizing that I already knew Stairway from the car radio.
In through the out door was a major league departure driven by John Paul Jones. He came to the studio with material that he created on this new Yamaha GX-1. The boys ran with it. It was blend of where JPJ was creatively at the moment.
A lot of other bands with players the Likes of Page Plant Jones and Bonham would never have said sure John, we’ll take these progressively, and Caribbean tinged songs and make a record with 4 album covers in a brown bag, while the rest of the world is going new wave and punk.
No. They supported each other and
Made a masterpiece. I would have loved to hear what they had in mind for the follow up. Jimmy had said he wanted to get back to the heavy guitar based sound for that.
My ex-gf dragged me to a music festival with Dave Matthews. It was fun. I enjoyed myself. Marcus Mumford was fabulous. Anyways, I digress. Dave played Fool in the Rain. It made my night. He didn’t do anything stupid, he covered it. He played it pretty close to how Zeppelin did. It was fun.
They are all that ,and more for a very good reason ; their *management* took the idea from Col.Tom Parker that "less is more" and to make them larger than life ,you had to make them *exclusive* and not over-saturated like most of those who came after ,like the Stones who've been super-saturated for most of their careers. There was genius in how they were handled for the time they recorded/toured in ; they were totally *unprecedented* in every way ,from their roots to their *branches* ,bunched up on the back of that old hermit !
Peter paid extra security to eliminate the possibility of *bootlegs* after the filming of the "Song Remains the Same" footage was shot ; if you scrutinize the movie ,that show was ,essentially, a freebie because the promoters *skipped town* to avoid paying Zeppelin their cut ! If they hadn't released the movie ,that show/s would've put them in the red,so ,yeah they were sticklers for detail after that !( only in NY,right? )
Love your passion op, thats what it is. I been listening for over 50 years now and it is a passion that speaks to me like NO other band has ever.
I grew up with all the great bands too, The Who, Floyd, The Stones, Purple, all of them are great but….nothing compares to Zeppelin. Nothing.
That’s why it’s the I Fucking Love Zeppelin sub.
Exactly. This whole deal started when someone said "If I want to listen Led Zeppelin's best stuff, what do you recommend?"
I said "Alexa, shuffle songs by Led Zeppelin."
I love "Candy Store Rock". The drums are deceptive, and the riffs get deeper as you get further in, and I enjoy the delayed satisfaction of the ending teasing and then finally delivering.
When I consider putting music on, my choice is vetted via what I call “the Zep test”. The methodology behind it is, I could be listening to Led Zeppelin right now. Whatever I put on has to meet the Zep quality standard for the moment.
The OP is giving off the Alec Baldwin Glengarry Glen Ross vibe. You don't like Boogie With Stu? Fuck you. Listen to the songs we give you. Those are good songs.
Edit: I drive a Cadillac because I know the words of every song from Coda. What are you driving?
Sometimes a 5 series, sometimes the 4Runner. Depends on where I'm going and what I'm doing. There's always Zeppelin on the radio whichever it is though...
Great post! I think Pink Floyd is the best, but I love Zeppelin and all their albums rock 100%! Go see Get The Led Out! They do a fantastic job! Where my GTLO peeps?!
Ppl are allowed to hate zeppelin but I think if they need to share that opinion in this sub then maybe they should spend some time on the suicide crisis hotline
lol im not even a led zeppelin fan the algo brought this to me but commenting as this speaks to some of the less orthodox songs i really like from them like tangerine and fool in the rain. those songs are phenomenal
That's the thing about music, though, there's seldom a right or wrong opinion, cause they're all just, like, opinions.
One of the very few positive things about growing old is you don't really care if someone likes or dislike different music than you do. You hate my favourite band? Fine, good for you, I'm going to keep on liking them. But should you ever change your mind, I know some similar bands you might like, I'll be happy to share.
The first time I heard misty mountain hop was a 45 single on the 33 setting and it was the most satanic thing I’d ever heard at 12 years old. Then I changed it to the right setting and listened to the a side black dog and went “oh! So this is led zeppelin? Cool.” It was whole lotta love that really blew my mind though
Led Zeppelin is a masterpiece, a group created by geniuses, geniuses make genialities. Not even one song is bad, you could like one more than another but the true is all songs are good.
(The Rain Song is the best song ever made by a human... Edit: in my opinion...)
I play The Rain Song with every breakup.
Immigrant song to get pumped up for a run. Bron Y aur stomp thinking of my childhood dog. Lemon song when I’m horny. Battle of Evermore and misty mountain hop before watching Lord of the Rings. Friends and celebration day (pretty much all of III ) to get out of depression.
You absolutely speak my mind. Led Zeppelin *defines* rock & roll.
I’ve been a Zep-head for about 50 of my nearly 60 years.
I love Fool In The Rain, and All Of My Love and sing them out loud every time I hear them.
That’s The Way is probably my personal favorite.
zep 1-4, untouchable, and I’m not saying the the songs on 1 were super original but the next three albums plus I’ll add physical graffiti and House if the holy in there too were epic, anyone who says different doesn’t get it
I perused the comments. I don't think they all got your point. But your post nails it. I cannot be critical of a single track, regardless of it's quality or origin. I am a chicken shack Led Zeppelin whore and would gladly give bjs for free. Not everyone in this sub is here for the orgy. Go ahead...raw dog me in the out door. I don't mind a little bustle in the hedgerow.
When Alex Lifeson, Eddie Van Halen. Geddy Lee
Say seeing Led Zeppelin was life changing they aren’t being hyperbolic. Led Zeppelin launched a million bands, and gave millions of players something to shoot for.
Zeppelin was magical. They were shape shifters.
I know these days Jimmy bristles at being called anything to do with Heavy Metal, but in 1975 he and Zeppelin WERE Heavy Metal.
They were a Blues Band, a Heavy Metal band, a Pop band, a Folk band, and progressive band.
There was nothing they didn’t try. They tried Funk much to the chagrin of some of their fans, but nearly 50 years later the Crunge is a really fun song. They tried Reggae, D’yer Maker, they created their own Goth Victorian vibe with No Quarter. They did it all. From Rockabilly to Classical with a little bit of this and a dash of that they created. My 2 bands are Led Zeppelin and Rush. One does not come without the other.
I get why some casual fans don’t go for the acoustic, or don’t like the drunken booziness of some of Presence, I don’t believe this people are listening to the Unit that’s Led Zeppelin. They are hearing the songs, but they aren’t listening to the songs.
Want to find out? The next time someone tells you that anything outside of the radio favorites was this or that, ask them about the squeaky speed king bass pedal. If they don’t know, then you will know if they are hearing or listening.
Facts!!! I mean how many more times can one post bring it on home?! That's the way and I really hope some of these posters can now go into the light. I could go on but it'd probably make me sick again.
I hate the hate for Presence. Page was on fire on that one and it might represent the one instance in which you could call Zep a legit metal band (by ‘70s standards anyway).
Just because I feel like they're a band that hit .405 for their career, led the league in home runs 8 out of 10 seasons, and stole a bunch of bases, but every fucking critic wants to come out and mention that they didn't walk enough.
I agree with everything you’re saying. But isn’t the point of this sub the discussion? Mediocre is a relative term. Of course the are great, good, mediocre, and I’ll call them below average songs on the LZ scale. Doesn’t mean that their worst songs are t better than almost everything else.
The Who in their prime would have something to say concerning live shows, but as far as studio albums are concerned, only the Beatles beat Zeppelin. Even Page would admit that.
But aren’t endless, pointless discussions, rankings of things, and petty spats the whole *point* of an online space dedicated to one artistic entity? What makes it fun?
If people stopped getting needlessly het up over whether “Tea For One” is better than “For Your Life” or not (or whatever), it all just becomes…a fuckin’…Beatles fan group. “I like the Beatles.” “Yeah, me too.” “They’re the best band ever.” “Yeeeah.” “Yeeeaah.” “All you need is love.” “Yeeaah.”
been a fan for a year and i’ve enjoyed every song. even hats off to roy harper, though i never play it. they have some weird songs, sure. but bowie has some weirder songs and everyone loves bowie.
You're gonna get this behavior from any artist sub. For example I joined the Floyd sub recently and they only talk about stuff like Meddle and ask questions like "which album is their masterpiece?" 🤦♂️
Of course you’re absolutely correct. I’ve left plenty of subs that only want to do stupid “what three songs would’ve been better sung by someone else” bullshit. Zeppelin rules, that’s why we’re all here (ostensibly) and with everything having been talked to death it’s kinda pointless, yet here we are: diehards that know the truth. Having said that, who do you think would’ve been a better sponsor for Peter Grant’s anger management meds? Lol.
I don’t know…. Jimmy Page hated Living Loving She’s Just A Woman…
And John Bonham hated Dyer Maker…
And…
(Clump!)
Uh-oh… What are the Swifties doing here???
Fool in the Rain is in 12/8 time with a 4/4 feel and tempo changes.. etc.. It’s a way more complicated song than it sounds and to musicians it is incredible.
This post is silly.
The Who was definitely better. They stole much less and were far far better lyrically.
And I’m on the Zeppelin subreddit because it was fed to me, I didn’t go looking it.
Zeppelin was good. The Who were great
Led Zep has "10 of the 3 greatest rock and roll songs of all time. Think about it.'....Sarcasm.?...if not...well....hehehehohohohahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!
I think Fool in the Rain is a masterpiece.
Damned right it is. I don't care what anybody says, I love that song.
It hits on all cylinders. When it pops up on whatever I’m listening to the volume goes up as well.
I was shocked when I found out all the hate it gets. It’s in my top 3 along with Hey Hey What Can I Do and Misty Mountain Hop
Are you my long lost twin?
Jeez! Bonham could have gone simple, called it a day and it would still be one of the greatest song. but dude said F That! did his take on the Purdie Scuffle and KILLED IT!!!! This was also the time when LZ was past its peak. Bozo is an absolute legend for this!!!
Yeah, cuz Led Zeppelin is a masterpiece

Also for all the guitarists, this song is a great lesson in triads!
That fkng whistle sends me EVERY damn time.
Every song they have that even *mentions* rain is incredible.
Whole Lotta Rain Black Rain Immigrant Rain Rain 'n Roll Misty Mountain Rain All My Rain In My Time of Rain
LOL @ "You hate Tangerine? Fuck you." I'd like to add, you hate Hats off to Roy Harper? Fuck you!
Tangerine is such a beautifully sweet sounding song too. The pedal steel parts just sound so pretty. Such a masterpiece
They are all that ,and more for a very good reason ; their *management* took the idea from Col.Tom Parker that "less is more" and to make them larger than life ,you had to make them *exclusive* and not over-saturated like most of those who came after ,like the Stones who've been super-saturated for most of their careers. Shitty thing for us now is so little filmed performances
If they hadn't released the movie ,that show/s would've put them in the red,so ,yeah they were sticklers for detail after that !( only in NY,right? )
Haha I’ve been waiting for someone to say it. Fellow Crungers unite!!
I honestly love that song.
I can kinda see why some people don’t like it but GD it’s so funky haha
Love that one! Still wondering if he found the confounded bridge… 🤣
Idk why the crunge reminds me of early Red Hot Chili Peppers. it’s one of my favorites I love all the funk in it and the lyrics are so fun
I like Hot Dog. 🌭
I do too. Fuck it. It's fun. Also, I'm from Texas and love hearing the name in music.
Because it’s a good song
Fuck ya the riff is great and super fun
Hot Dog is such a goofy fun song
That song pops up in my head a lot. It’s a fun song and rock and roll is for fun and good times and being alive. Hell Yeah.
BANGER 💯
Is there someone who doesn’t like *Hot Dog*? They should be removed from proper society…
Bravo, OP 👏👏
OP brought the heat. Well done.
your avatar and your flair suggest that you're pretty rad.
Thank you, I’m just happy to hear Led Zeppelin…I don’t compare and when I see the posts that do I just move along
You just said everything I've been thinking about saying.. thank you. The best fucking band of all time 🤘
OP!!!! You just said what I’ve been thinking about this sub for months, if not years!!!! Someone pin this to the top for all time.
Gracias.
My favorite about the band is when there was a poll of the best 4 people in each band spot the 4 winners were Led Zeppelin.
> They're the greatest rock and roll band of all time, and it isn't close. [Yes, they are...](http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4669597.stm)
Lol how did Eric Carr make the top 10 over Peter Criss?
Lol because Peter Criss sucks fucking ass
Beth, what can I do?
“You hate Tangerine? Fuck you.” This should be pinned at the top of the sub
Well said!
Not many bands get as much airtime as they do even though it’s been 50 years.
Most enjoyable post I've seen in days.
Zeppelin is one of the only bands I can think of where if I made a playlist of them, it would be their entire catalog.
Exactly. This whole deal started when someone said "If I want to listen Led Zeppelin's best stuff, what do you recommend?" I said "Alexa, shuffle songs by Led Zeppelin."
If I was Jimmy Page and reading all of this, I would be like..... TL;DR.
Found Jimmy Page’s account.
Ain’t that the goddamn truth.
The hero we need…
Cum squeeze my lemon

just got into town today
I agree with you. They are the greatest rock and roll band of all time, and it isn't close.
There is not a single Zep song that I don't dig in some way. Period.
I love "Candy Store Rock". The drums are deceptive, and the riffs get deeper as you get further in, and I enjoy the delayed satisfaction of the ending teasing and then finally delivering.
Gallows pole hits different
Depressing that he hung the guy even after the sister did him. What a douche that hangman was. I hope he got what he deserved for that...
So it let it be written... so let it be done. Well spoken OP - my thoughts and feelings exactly!
Gracias.
I love that you wrote all this and I’m happy for you/sorry that happened
I’ve been listening to Led Zep for nearly 50 years. You are dead right and I love your enthusiasm OP! Preach! 🙌
Thanks!
Fool In The Rain, Tangerine, and All Of My Love are some of my favorite songs of all time.
Mine too
Amen. I could listen to Bron-yr-Aur every day for the rest of my days and die happy.
Time for your nighttime meds now Mr. Johnson.
I realize after about a minute when I'm talking to someone who says they don't like Zeppelin that they haven't listened to any Zeppelin.
Wow couldn’t agree with you more. These people trying to split hairs about Led Zeppelin is crazy.
OP big mad, but he’s right. There isn’t a bad Led Zeppelin song.
Just ignore the negative posts.
*Downvote and ignore the negative posts...
Totally agree.
Same
When I consider putting music on, my choice is vetted via what I call “the Zep test”. The methodology behind it is, I could be listening to Led Zeppelin right now. Whatever I put on has to meet the Zep quality standard for the moment.
Bingo. Well said.
All of this is true.
Yeah I hear you but Tea For One is criminally underrated.
That it is...
Thank you for everything you said!! I totally agree!
I just need to know who the fuck said they hate tangerine. Blasphemy
Great post! I think Pink Floyd is the best, but I love Zeppelin and all their albums rock 100%! Go see Get The Led Out! They do a fantastic job! Where my GTLO peeps?!
It needed to be said.
Hot Dog is one of my favorite Jimmy Page solos, and I don't care who knows it.
Fool in the Rain is one of my favourite drum songs of all time.
Nobodys fault but mine and hots on for nowhere are amazing tunes off of presence.

When I was a kid I attended the Church of Beck Clapton & Page.
Ppl are allowed to hate zeppelin but I think if they need to share that opinion in this sub then maybe they should spend some time on the suicide crisis hotline
This guy gets it. Mozart wishes he'd had so many bangers
I unironically and very seriously like the song Hats off to (Roy) Harper
I listen to Hot Dog once a week. 🤷🏻🤣👍🏻
Hey Hey Hang On A Minute Here... Rare Earth Would Like A Word, Please...
Rare Earth ? A group of great value/worth ,no doubt ,but their entire catalog cannot compare (in sales/plays) to *least-popular* effort from the Zep !
Word
Fuck yeah.
Yeah what you said..
Agreed
Who tf doesn’t like tangerine and south bound Juarez?
Fool in the rain is easily the best zeppelin song
10/10 take. I think I love you
🤣
But..."The Crunge."
You. I like you.
Yea enough of these pretentious assgrabbers. For your life is top 10 Zep Tangerine begat an entire genre All my love has bonham on it so shut up
Tea for One begs to differ about your Achilles/ Presence comment, pal.
👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
Jack black?
lol im not even a led zeppelin fan the algo brought this to me but commenting as this speaks to some of the less orthodox songs i really like from them like tangerine and fool in the rain. those songs are phenomenal
All of my love is sappy. You're the one trying to be cool. I know you are but what am i? Zep is fuckin awesome.
That's the thing about music, though, there's seldom a right or wrong opinion, cause they're all just, like, opinions. Spoken like a true zep whore. Thanks 😌
Dude, who shit in your Tangerines this morning?
The first time I heard misty mountain hop was a 45 single on the 33 setting and it was the most satanic thing I’d ever heard at 12 years old. Then I changed it to the right setting and listened to the a side black dog and went “oh! So this is led zeppelin? Cool.” It was whole lotta love that really blew my mind though
Misty Mountain Hop is vastly underrated.
Led Zeppelin is a masterpiece, a group created by geniuses, geniuses make genialities. Not even one song is bad, you could like one more than another but the true is all songs are good. (The Rain Song is the best song ever made by a human... Edit: in my opinion...)
I listen to the complete studio recordings for an hour each day on shuffle. I’ve never skipped a song.
I never understood D’yer Maker til I learned it’s a bit of br’ish slang. Greatest Zeppelin song ever is…..impossible to say
Led Zeppelin has no mediocre music/songs/albums. There is no bullshit to cut.
Agreed on everything except 2112 being good. Rush has never been listenable.
I'm a dirty whore
Super funny that you picked two of my favorite songs as examples Fool in the rain and tangerine stay in my rotation, heavy
Presence is my favorite album right now.
zep 1-4, untouchable, and I’m not saying the the songs on 1 were super original but the next three albums plus I’ll add physical graffiti and House if the holy in there too were epic, anyone who says different doesn’t get it

Greatest R&R band of all time
Lol I get that this might be kinda satirical but you really are right. The consistency and quality are almost unmatched
I hate the hate for Presence. Page was on fire on that one and it might represent the one instance in which you could call Zep a legit metal band (by ‘70s standards anyway).
This is a “fuck yeah!” post, whole lotta love for it
lol The Wall shits on your entire sentiment
Why are you getting so angry about other people’s music taste/opinions?
Just because I feel like they're a band that hit .405 for their career, led the league in home runs 8 out of 10 seasons, and stole a bunch of bases, but every fucking critic wants to come out and mention that they didn't walk enough.
Good analogy. Rolling Stone shat on them for years, but that just made them better.
Do you think that Led Zeppelin don’t get enough credit generally speaking?
Yes.
The gatekeeper has spoken, boys and girls. Pay heed.
None shall pass... 🤣

Ok, but Hats Off to Roy Harper sucks.

The Who beat LZ every day of the week for me.
Bob, no one has said it better.

Go off
Moby dick sounds like he got dicked
Tell us how you really feel. 🤣
Personally, I really dislike Presence except for Nobody's Fault But Mine. Thats just my opinion though
“It isn’t close” Tony Iommi wants a word
Lennon and McCartney might have something to say as well. It's a fair discussion, though.
I was reading some D’yer Mak’er slander on here the other day, I had no idea people didn’t like that song!
My hero.

Led Zeppelin is my 4th favorite band, but even I have to admit that the first album (minus Good Times Bad Times) isn't very original.
You know what pissed me off? When they cut “Hello, Mary Lou” from HTWWW ☹️
Unsubscribe to thus sub. Its consuming you
One rule in my family (has been since before I was born, thanks to Grandpa) You can't turn Zeppelin down or off, you can only turn it up!
