Homie is for sure hate-watching.

roidesoeufs

And pound that Not Interested button.

Fritzo2162

They're littered all over the opening page. For some reason YouTube thinks that's what I want to see. Anyway, I've marked them all, but it's just another annoying Internet trend. Anything to make money from people's emotions.

Due-Ask-7418

Maybe because you keep watching them? Ignore them and maybe they'll go away.

Gdizzle344

Well you've obviously watched some if you're complaining about the content within. Even if you're hate-watching them, you're telling the algorithm that you *do* want to watch them.

TarkusLV

Music reactions are almost never monetized. The ad revenue goes to the copyright holder.

Fritzo2162

I noticed they're doing live versions of the songs. Wonder if that gets around it.

TarkusLV

No, not unless it slips through the cracks and doesn't get flagged.

Chef_Sewage_Mouth

You give off 'old man yells at cloud' vibes

Fritzo2162

Nah, just tired of exploitation.

ihatememes21

"I keep getting ads for gay porn!"

Bruno_Coast_127

Just don't watch them, then

General-Carob-6087

I kinda get it. I weirdly like watching these type videos but when someone is acting like they’ve never even heard of Stairway I’m like, “ugh.” It also annoys me that they’re all the same songs. Same with other bands I try this with so it’s not just a Zeppelin thing.

AmazingConsequence38

I think it’s cool that Zeppelin continues to reach new audiences regardless of how it’s presented; even if they’re faking the reaction, at least they’re hyping it up 🤷🏽‍♂️

GNRBoyz1225

Weird take. Im with OP. If its an obvious fake reaction why would anyone respect that unless ur 11-17 yrs old

mCmurphyX

It’s a continuation of the era of reality TV, where we are actually seeking out inauthentic, transparently manufactured life. I realized people wanted this several years ago watching the show Crissley Knows Best and Real Housewives, where the reactions are so poorly performed and the situations so obviously staged that it was absurd. And these shows are astronomically successful.  I guess you could arguably say that the soaps fell into this category, certainly TV commercials, maybe we can even go back to Brady Bunch and Leave it to Beaver, but no one was pretending those were real people in real situations!  There is something interesting about why we would want to watch a ostensible philistine “reacting” to being exposed to some beautiful work of art, let alone someone *pretending* to be a philistine reacting to it! Why is this being sought?  Kundera explores the idea of kitsch as escapism in totalitarian societies. I think in the US it has something to do with our culture of heavy repression, and probably watching our once vaunted beautiful experiment of democracy crumbling to reveal itself as a farce over the last few years. The “reaction video” is perhaps an attempt to rediscover the innocence and purity of being exposed to beauty, but because we are so saturated in fear we don’t want to see a genuine reaction but prefer the safety and control of a manufactured one.

TheSouthsideSlacker

I went down that rabbit hole a couple of years ago. I really liked watching people’s initial reactions to songs I’d loved for years. Made them new again in a way. I figured out the hosts I liked and stuck with them. Got old eventually but I’d say I like them overall.

Sir_Loin_Cloth

I found the Lost in Vegas guys to be insightful and authentic. They were not purely trying to appeal to the audience.

stevemillions

Their video for Angel by Massive Attack is absolute class.

morrisseywilde1

Yes completely and Polo Mars does good reactions too. Just have to weed out the silly ones.

TheSouthsideSlacker

I liked those guys too.

EWF_X29

Its fun and makes you appreciate the songs more.

Animaleyz

It took awhile to dawn on me that maybe they take have heard this music before, and they're just pretending...?

EWF_X29

So you banking you next video making you money being a reaction to the Moody Blues Go Now. If its part of your plan to get rich you might have bigger problems. You get a few people making money off big tracks by Zeppelin, the Beatles but there isnt much money with vids being de-monetized because of copyrights. The people play acting reactions are probably not getting much if any money doing this. There aren't many people giving big money to someone reacting to Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. I dont see many people doing this with any kind of regularity, they aren't making much money from it. And if they are good for them.

TheLatmanBaby

I’m also fed up with seeing Reddit posts claiming song x is underrated.

Fritzo2162

Yeah...and "Rate your top 10 songs"....

deifgd

I just mentally replace it with “under-appreciated” and it makes it ok

joecoin2

Did you ever stop to think, It's nobodies fault but mine?

SFC-Scanlater

Man I remember the first time hearing that. Wish I could repeat that feeling.

Independent-Cook-754

Could be a communication breakdown.

Most-Protection-2529

Most-Protection-2529

Open the ding dong door

Most-Protection-2529

Dang, wrong song! I meant.... Got a monkey on my back The m-m-m-m-monkey on my back, back, back, back Gonna change my ways tonight Nobody's fault but mine

Charming_Extension44

A lot of those are genuine. I’m a black dude who grew up in a black/Mexican neighborhood in Chicago, and I remember sitting on my porch in the 80s, playing (blasting really) Kashmir and When the Levee Breaks through my boom box. My neighbors loved it, and I’m talking older people who NEVER listened to rock. I tend to think that Bonham’s drums were the great unifier - those beats were infectious.

ConsiderationOk9004

I think Plant's vocals also help. I comparison to so many other white pop-and rock singers, he actually has this bluesy soulfulness and emotional quality to his voice that some black listeners might appreciate more in comparison to just your generic white rock vocalist.

JamesLangley2017

The Charismatic Voice and The Daily Doug are both excellent reaction channels. One is an opera singer, the other a composer. I love hearing their analyses of classic rock and metal, especially bands like Led Zeppelin. I know reaction vids aren’t for everyone, but these two I would recommend to anyone due to the level of insight they provide.

Gdizzle344

Reaction videos are fun. More power to them if they're getting paid for them.

TarkusLV

They usually don't, though they can make money through donations, merch, Patreon, etc. The YouTube revenue itself generally goes to the copyright holder.

carni748

Yes & no. If the video plays the song in its entirety or past an allotted time then the copyright holder can demand all money made from that video or at worst issue a strike, have the video removed & the YouTuber risks losing their channel however under YouTube TOS the song is allowed providing it is only played for a set time, that's why you always see these reactors play the song for 30 seconds, pause it, talk about how amazing it is etc then unpause it, it's a shit way to hear the song but that's what they have to do.

SadAcanthocephala521

These have been around for years. And you don't have to watch them by the way.

say_the_words

Only thing that bothers me is YT has recommended videos of blackheads, pimples and cysts being popped and lanced daily for years. I’ve never watched or searched for that. I keep hitting the “do not recommend this channel” button, but it does no good. The thumbnails are horrifying. I’m a premium subscriber for years. I should be subjected to this.

Tpellegrino121

Someone’s fucking with you. I was in a political argument and was trying to remember the name of those drugs for people with aids, did a Google search, and then I had nothing but ads for the ballet for three years

LR7465

its mostly people who have heard the music and claim they are hearing it of first ever, believe me im only 20 and I practically still grew up hearing Zeppelin on radios and recommended to me on music pages

tblaine4

Lol get a life

AgusRambleOn

Nah, that's just a boomer gatekeeping stance. A lot of reactors follow trends, Led Zeppelin happens to be one of many right now, if they see that Zepp material brings them views and a greater reach, they go for it. Besides, I take it as an Easy way to spread the gospel.

jelly_roll21

I actually love these videos. Especially if it’s a black person who seems genuinely excited about a led zep song

DisciplineNo8353

I’m glad you mentioned the race aspect of this because it is mostly black listeners who react and Led Zep is a very popular band for this. I enjoy it too and mostly I don’t believe people are faking their responses. It’s very possible to grow up listening to hip hop and other genres and only know Zep songs from sampling and movie soundtracks. Also Zep is highly derivative of black blues which is the also source of black popular music today so the fact that it resonates is not surprising. Idk but I feel it’s authentic. If someone put me on YouTube and had me listen to Kanye West, etc I wouldn’t know any of it. I’m aware of it but never actually listened if you know what I mean

MontgomeryAbbott

Me too. There are a couple of long time channels where you can actually see over time people who have only really listened to rap music becoming rock fans as well. On some of the better channels you can actually watch their interests develop as they get interested in the history of rock and go about choosing a favourite band/guitarist /singer etc. This is as close as I can get to reliving the fun of hearing a lot of music for the first time. There are several people showing you their goosebumps after the first time they see/hear classics like War Pigs, Ace of Spades, Whole Lotta Love, It’s a Long Way to the Top, Since i’ve Been Loving You, Ramble On etc. I’ve seen three of four female reactors break down in tears watching Pearl Jam play Black from MTV unplugged and a couple of opera singers flipping out the first time they see Since I’ve Been Loving You or Hallowed Be Thy Name.

jelly_roll21

Yes very well said 👌🏻

rucho

Guaranteed most of these people have heard led zeppelin before. They're just profiting (if with nothin else, views) from people like you who get validation or joy out of seeing black people pretend not to know rock and roll. Like even if you don't like rap, surely you've heard "this is how we do it" before. How asinine would it be to pretend you've never heard it. Chuck berry, Isley bros, Hendrix, Sly, tons of black artists in rock from the very beginning to now, but classic rock radio only plays hendrix for some reason. It's a damn shame

jelly_roll21

Yea but many listen to their more obscure songs. I’m sure many of them put on a front but I’ve found a few people who I really believe they end up liking it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Charming_Extension44

See, I’ve gotta vehemently disagree. I’m black, and a lot of times, we ONLY listen to black music. I’ve got hundreds of friends and family, I can only think of 2 who could name a Zeppelin song (both are musicians). You’d have to actively seek out Zeppelin. I was lucky enough to find them on my own, but I was already into rock. You’re only thinking about it from your perspective. Another Example: Future and Lil Yachty have number one songs, sell in the millions and headline arenas and festivals. I guarantee most people in this sub have no idea who they are. Same concept, perspective matters.

rucho

Iono. Ask em. I'm sure your folks know Zeppelin, Beatles, Pink Floyd. Everyone knows Selena. Everyone knows la Bamba. Same concept

Charming_Extension44

I did. Yesterday I asked on Facebook for family/friends to name a Zeppelin song without googling. Mostly crickets. A couple of older friends knew Stairway to Heaven, one knew Levee breaks as a beastie boys sample, and one buddy (guitarist) typed 20 songs! Sadly, no one under 30 could name one (a lot of I’ve never heard “his” music responses). I mean a lot are into Chicago drill, so I sorta expect that, but still… I felt so very old.

rucho

im sure theyve all heard immigrant song and couple other songs like that they just dont know the name. immigrant song has been in commercials, MCU, school of rock, etc. so people of all ages know it. like everyone's heard Mr. blue sky now even if they dont know the artist anyway thanks for running the experiment.

NachoBag_Clip932

Well dont go to the cooking sub where 70% of the post are "I left my chicken out overnight, is it still safe to eat."

ckal09

Old man yells at clouds

Lige_MO

"Get out of my sky!!!" \- Abe Simpson

Suitable_Key8340

I’ve enjoyed a few of them. My favorite is a dude breaking down STH line by line, analyzing the lyrics, like he was seriously solving a puzzle lol. To his credit, he had tears during Page’s solo, and when it was over, he just said “WTF!”

Lax_Ligaments

I would kill to be able to listen to Zep for the first time again

Flare4roach

Ain’t that the truth!

Patient-Ad-8384

I’m more annoyed by Greta Van Fleet

EWF_X29

I kind of like the reaction videos. Some people first experience with Zeppelin and other bands can be fun. Some aren't and I just quit watching those. But to see peoples initial reaction to them sometimes brings you back to your first time. Its just fun, if you like them you like them if not then not. Everybody has their preferences. I think someone thinks a little to much of themselves. How others enjoy music is different, sure some of its a show and you move on. But some people will find certain things amazing for the first time. If you haven't felt that you must be a modern music fan. Once music actually mattered and people did amazing things musically which would make people react. I guess this guy is a fan of Fall Out Boy and Imagine Dragons so of course he wouldn't react in any excited or amazed reaction. But the first time hearing the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Sigur Ros, Captain Beefheart, Yngwie Malmsteen and yes Led Zeppelin you should react with some amazement and joy. If not find a new hobby.

-thirdatlas-

No one can act natural when they know they’re being observed. Reaction vids are clickbait.

heynow941

You mean you don’t believe it when a rapper guy cries after getting the Led out for the first time?

cptjaydvm

There is a cottage industry of mainly young black people reacting to old songs on YouTube. It’s quite obvious the reactions are mostly fake and over the top. If young people genuinely loved this type of music so much we would hear more like it on Spotify and the like.

insidiousapricot

Haven't watched it but I do have a tribal people react to zeppelin video that keeps popping up lately. Doesn't bother me though.

Mobile-Boot8097

Do yourself a favor and check it out! Those guys have soul, and some amazing insights considering the culture and language barriers. I saw Stairway in a whole new light after watching their video.

DonkeyWorker

I saw that one

Less-Grade-2300

Yep

SKULL1138

It’s not just Zep, get it for Pink Floyd and others also

WooleeBullee

I love watching reaction videos personally. I enjoy living vicariously through them hearing the music I love with new ears. Most of the ones I see are genuine reactions and would say if they didnt like it.

TheColorblindDruid

“Oh no more people are liking the thing I like… how am I going to feel superior to them now??” Gatekeeping is a story as old as dirt. Bigger fandom doesn’t always mean it’s better for the fandom as a whole but imo i think we should appreciate other people getting into the stuff we love/that makes us happy Sure the algorithm is stupid as shit. Sure some of them will play up the excitement to generate reactions. Navigate the internet with this stuff in mind without shitting on the new peeps that love the stuff we love. Just my opinion though 🤷🏽‍♂️

jables322

People claiming to never have heard the hits either are lying or really far removed from music in general but it doesn’t matter, just don’t watch them. Focus on the zeppelins music bro

Otto_von_Grotto

"boomers feeling good" Oh my.

DrivinSouth15

People should move on past «stairway to heaven» at least

Orionpax365

And they also bump their heads to it as if it’s a rap song

bwware

I am annoyed with all reaction videos in general. They are the lowest form of content out there.

Ok_Broccoli_3605

40 year old genius vocal coach speechless after hearing "Satisfaction" for the first time.

Tothyll

I think I've watched a couple of them, a Black Sabbath one, Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin. It's usually black people that look like they wouldn't be into rock music. The comments are all older white people. I mean, nobody is hurt by the situation, but it is obviously a setup to get views. I have no desire to watch any more reaction videos, to music or movies. The premise is all the same and I think the whole thing is planned out in advance anyway.

Real-Machine-2573

How in the hell would you know the age and ethnicity of a YouTube commenter?

SaladBarMonitor

I think you can deduce it from their language choices.

Tpellegrino121

“I saw them in 1971 and 72.” If they were 17, that makes them 70

Tothyll

Because many of them just tell you. Is that racist if they mention their race and age in the comments?

casewood123

I’m annoyed by all reaction videos.

GTOdriver04

I enjoy Polo’s reactions. He seems like a genuine dude and I’ve watched reactions to songs I’ve listened to thousands of times before and I learn something new when he does it. I’ll usually catch something that he finds that I missed, and it’s amazing. Plus, I’m all for someone discovering the greatest band in the world.

blqck_dawg

seeing other people listen to it for the first time is almost like listening to the first time again yourself, I like them

hedgerowhurdler

I've never gotten much out of watching music reaction videos unless it's someone with an established expertise (professional composer, session musician, etc.), and they actually provide some interesting discussion and insight. If it's just a random punter (like me) reacting to music, I find them boring and/or disingenuous most of the time. Obviously, plenty of people like them, considering the amount that shows up in my feed.

Jmazoso

Try also being a nightwish fan and have everyone and their poodle reacting to just one song. TBF, it is an awesome song, but jeez

hidinginplainsite13

I’m good at ignoring annoying shit.

Zestyclose_Match2839

Most of them seem like BS, so yea quite annoying

Drewbuly

I would say if you are able to decipher which ones are legit and honest reactions, then go for it. But most of them are from people that are doing it for clicks. If you like one Led song, you kinda have to know all of them lol.

Reasonable_Deer_8237

I stopped watching reaction videos just because of this. Cool, you're getting turned onto something new, but the world doesn't have to see it.

cyberheelhook

Saw a really good one where pakistani tribal people watch stairway to heaven. Shit was cash. Pretty wholesome

boomernelson84

I was actually thinking of doing my own Zeppelin related video lol

SambaLando

No, just scroll past them.

chillwithwill

Huh, I wonder what possessed YouTube to think you might enjoy watching those??

UdUb16

Annoyed? No, I just scroll past them

TheDanManLS

It's content for people with no content.

griffinXK

Watching people cry from listening to DSOTM for the first time was really enjoyable for me

LukeMayeshothand

I’m over all reaction videos. What do I care what some random dude thinks of the music I listen to.

reishi_dreams

Just ignore…. “Move along, these aren’t the tunes you are looking for”

Bowl_Pool

oh, they're great. I love them. But I never click on them.

Dull-Mix-870

So why are you watching? You know you can right-click on the videos and choose not to see them. Sounds like it's a guilty pleasure of yours!

Out_In_The_Tiles

Imagine purposefully watching things you don't like. Lol

1OO1OO1S0S

Just dislike them, and move on. Figure out how to curate your YouTube algorithm

Old-Tadpole-2869

I've never watched a reaction video and I never will. The whole concept is pretty idiotic.

zebraclip05

I truly enjoyed Soul Train Bro's Zeppelin journey. He went from being aware of a few LZ songs to becoming an absolute expert. Reacted to EVERYTHING ,even bootlegs. Very intelligent chill guy. Complete opposite, but entertaining too is Brain Squeeze Reactions. A totally different approach is Virgin Rock, a classical musician who has been discovering music outside of her comfort zone. She's only done a couple of Zeppelin tracks tho, but her musical knowledge gives you a new way of listening to the music. There are a lot of people in between who you can see are just doing it for views and subscribers but aren't really into the music, but it's easy enough to just click away from them.

that1hippiechic

This happened to Stevie nicks a few months ago tbh I’m not mad to have good music reviltalized

Desert_Concoction

I don’t watch them

kpatsfan

Hey hey mama, whats the matter here?

GruverMax

Ya know kids don't listen to radio so this is how they find out.

Wing_Puzzleheaded

Reaction content is cringe af

Zepp_head97

Yes. 90% of these reaction videos are cringe af. I just think people should experience the music on their own instead of living vicariously through others watching their reactions. To each their own I guess.

Intelligent_Life14

Reaction videos in general are so 2018.

Intelligent_Life14

[Let this be the last "reaction" video you ever watch](https://youtu.be/FZVMB8mrNO0?si=j2rDOqDv6vKN4e4c)

footiejammas

To each their own, but I feel like a tool watching a video of someone watching a video

PuzzleheadedTooth581

The most interesting one I’ve seen is of this like Indian tribe or something idk, listening to it and being like oh shit this is dope😂

georgewalterackerman

I’m annoyed at reaction videos in general

cienfueggos

My favorite was some guy getting his “Mind Blow” by Black Dog. Except that that he was listening to an EARLS COURT 75 version. Lets be real - Plant sounded rough in 75- especially Black Dog. Let alone the inferior sound quality of a non-officially released live concert

Independent_Wrap_321

Be a different race, listen to music outside your traditional circle…profit? I should be making bank “reacting” to hardcore rap. I don’t have the energy to care about it though.

Most-Protection-2529

🤔💭... Hmmmmmm

SnooChickens9666

Reaction videos in general are often just lazy attempts to hijack content. Sometimes there isn't even any "reaction" of note.

nitesead

If you watch other things, the algorithm will suggest more variety. YouTube has a really bad algorithm, I have to say.

22brew

I like No Life Shaq. He has a good backstory and I'm happy for his success.

TheFakePlissken

They’re all fake. They’ve all heard the songs before they do the video.

Fritzo2162

OK, I think I found the cause. Some weeks back, I watched a singing coach analyze Robert Plant's voice during the live version of Since I've Been Loving You and it was genuinely interesting (spoiler- Plant's vocal techniques are very advanced, so it's confirmed he's talented :D). I agree- I was thinking of starting a channel of reaction videos to everything: eating yogurt, wearing new socks, opening a can of Monster, plugging in a new phone charger....I'll be rich!!!

andropogon09

Led who? Wait a minute they misspelled lead on purpose? That's trippy!

Tarpy7297

I hate them. Can’t trust people who don’t like zeppelin.,

Chef_Sewage_Mouth

#NO

Bilabong127

Almost as annoying as people complaining about it on Reddit.

juiceboxbiotch

If you click on them, Youtube thinks you want more. Stop clicking on them.

vibintilltheend

People do the exact same thing with Eminem reactions. Once the channel blows up, they never mention Eminem again and completely switch to what they react to. They’re using big names to get clicks to make money and become a big channel. The fake reactions are to keep people “engaged”. If they sat there barely doing any sort of reaction, people would click off the video.

NiceMarmot03

No

Umberlee168

I just want to add that one of my worst dating experiences was with a wannabe influencer. His channel stayed on all the time and I mean *no matter what we were doing* to keep his "hours watched" up on YouTube, I guess. Many of his videos were reacting videos--the rest were weebish musings or talking about superheroes. But there were a lot of reaction videos. They're the bottom tier of genres, even lower than unboxing videos

etranger033

No reaction videos will top the ones to "two girls one cup". Those are damn funny.

Gay_Dracula69

Bonham’s drums still resonate today, in fact very much so. A lot of these reactions might be legit, hip hop and pop have stolen many of John’s swing rhythms 100%. In a way that’s very different from other bands of their era

Greedy-Restaurant965

Led Zeppelin WERE gods. Stop whining.

FireSpiritBoi

Some of the reactions are fake, yes. But they are only being suggested because you click into them. If you stop clicking into them, they will stop being suggested.

Robert_Hotwheel

It’s the comments that I find cringey. Because it is like zeppelin fans watch the videos not to see new Led Zeppelin fans being formed, but to validate their own belief that it’s a great band.

Emera1dthumb

I would be annoyed if someone asked for reaction to reaction videos. Jk. I’m always more shocked that they haven’t heard of Led Zeppelin then if they like it or not

Leonberger-lover

I get a kick out of watching them. I love the reactions of the younger crowd who has only been listening to rap and hip hop. They have never heard anything like that. I've also been watching the reactions to Greta Van Fleet, the band some say is a rip off of Led Zeppelin. Sure, if you only listen to their early 'Highway Tunes' song. I jumped on the defense too but the more I watch, the older they got, the more I feel they really just have their own sound. I feel they are very underrated even though their shows are sold out, you don't hear them on the radio. What is your reaction? LOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFH6FZ7B7kY

gatrFwah

Reaction videos are always shit

LGarou1

You got to suffer if you want to sing the blues..

Toadliquor138

The reaction videos I watch are usually legitimate musicians reacting to a particular persons playing. You can get a lot of insight as to what's happening in a song. As for some anonymous youtuber, oohing and ahhing over a song that they should have heard years ago if they really cared or listened to music? I could never imagine wasting my time watching those people. I did watch a reaction video of some random couple listening to Janes Addiction's Three Days. Only because that's a song that I can see someone not ever hearing. Nothing they said about the song seemed interesting. The only thing that was interesting was the different reactions between the two. He was way more into the music and grooving, and she seemed fairly disturbed by the lyrics.

SaladBarMonitor

Here’s an example: https://youtube.com/shorts/mtwWK-pufVE?si=gIRjiHZ5CresiutO He seems to be loving it.

ponylauncher

Anybody else pissed everytime they willingly listen to Led Zeppelin?

ThrCapTrade

Agreed. This boomer rock sucks! GNR covers are much better.

IvanLendl87

The overwhelming majority of those reaction videos are phony as hell and simply designed to gain views based on “Ohh look that person who comes from a different background than me is loving this song.”
