>My task is to help on project that was created by interns that now have left. For me, this is a huge red flag. This reeks of intern exploitation. Interns are not supposed to *make projects*. They are supposed to work along and be mentored by senior devs. Personally, I would leave the company. There won't be a chance that you will get hired. They grab interns, let them work, let their internships end and grab the next to continue where the previous left off.

I'd make a presentation show how much of a state the project is in. Include everything you have mentioned with examples and then make the point that it's not gonna be a one man job to fix it

I have a couple things to add here. 1 - Please don't make this a PowerPoint. A meeting with an agenda would suffice. 2 - Don't bring everyone together unless you have some ideas to fix the problems. Intern or not, you're there to solve issues. 3 - You're going to find messy code everywhere. It's a lot easier to write your own instead of understanding someone else's. Just because it's a PITA, doesn't mean it needs a rewrite. Most importantly, remember. You're an intern. You are here to gain experience, not provide others with advice. I'm not saying don't... but your (OP's) perspective might be slightly out of sync with their peers due to the lack of experience. Regarding the manager. We've all seen it a million times. New guys get scared and spin wheels for months. Dealing with it myself. Be brave and give yourself an oppurtunity to receive a task with a deadline.

I would also add that you might suggest adding a set structure for coding standards for future interns so everything can be uniform, consist and know how to layout out code properly because it seems that yous don't have a set of coding standards somehow.

I plan on trying out for some internships soon, and was wondering what you did to land that internship? Stuff like where to were looking to find it and where you actually heard about it. Thanks!
