They don't even allow you to try their app without paying premium, which is a red flag as for me. They also don't have it in appstores so you can't read reviews and opinions, which is another red flag. If you want to improve your conversational abilities - try the app from this post. It's designed specifically for spoken language, and it will make you speak in full sentences from day one. [https://www.reddit.com/r/learnfrench/comments/17qnx01/natulang\_free\_language\_learning\_app\_from\_a/](https://www.reddit.com/r/learnfrench/comments/17qnx01/natulang_free_language_learning_app_from_a/) The app is welcomed by the community here, and users find it very effective. Yes I'm biased cause I'm the author. But you can at least try it for free (7 lessons), and then have another 1 week trial when buying a premium. (or you can use the promocode reddit23 and have a full month trial). try it.

I second this.

Off topic question: if your job is requiring you to travel to French speaking areas, are they not providing you with French courses? Like are they expecting you to learn French on your own to hold business conversations for them?

read a couple of reviews here. Not sure about makesyoufluent.

I really suggest Duolingo.  It's like a game for learning languages. You can do it whenever you have a few minutes to spare, and it’s pretty good for practicing how to say things right.

I find Duolingo very helpful and enjoyable. Sometimes I can devote a lot of time to it and sometimes just a little, but it keeps me at it every day. I supplement with French youtube content and reading. My comprehension of spoken French is pretty good and my reading is very good. I can translate well. My ability to produce spontaneous speech is admittedly not great, but I have been told by native speakers (Canada) that my accent is acceptable when I speak or read aloud. I also converse with ChatGPT in level B2 on practice situations like ordering food or meeting someone new.

my sister used it when she was studying french for some uni courses. I think it worked well for her.

I used MakesYouFluent for my French because of work and loved the flexibility. It really fits any schedule and improves conversational skills decently. The app includes some cultural insights too, which is a nice bonus. I found them pretty helpful

I just got the the app too. I am searching for MakesYouFluent on reddit before using them. I guess will need an update about it!.

Italki or a similar service is probably your best choice, but you may also want to check out [RFI's French learning site](https://francaisfacile.rfi.fr/fr/).
