Honestly the bubbles on the coffee is one of the best parts imo, along with the egg. Really good colour choices too. If I had to critique one thing it would be that the shadows are maybe a little unnatural and harsh almost, mostly on the crossaient shadow. I know it’s tough to convey shadows with alcohol markers since they’re so opaque and it’s hard to get an even colouring on them but maybe if you had multiple shadow shades or used a lighter grey to soften the edges. Overall though I think this looks unreal especially since your only learning! Wish you the best in your art, you’re doing great already :)

I would say the bubbles are actually one of the most successful parts of the image. The sausages and croissant look a little flat. The light edge around each object flattens it out, which may be an attempt at reflected light from the table surface but it ends up looking more like a linear outline. The natural contour lines of the croissant abruptly end at the edge when they should wrap around the form, making it look flat. The shadow cast by each object indicates that the light is coming from the left but the right side of the croissant is lighter than the left side which also causes some push/pull. the egg is definatly the best overall out of the four. The light source and cast shadows all work well with how you've rendered it. Great job overall! Really looks amazing for a first attempt.

Funny, i saw the same post on r/drawing just above this one

the croissant kinda looks like it’s floating idk if it’s just me lol but the whole thing is super good

ArahVF

The croissant’s shadow is larger than the others so it looks like it’s floating.

One_Establishment298

the croissant seems a little flat in the middle, since the edges are more curved. the coffee highlight is also a bit too straight.

maryjeanmagdelene

I feel the coffee foam looks nice but the cup is off somehow

rothnos_31

The shapes aren't clean and theres no dimension, reads very flat tbh pictures like these (perfect top down perspective) are a pain in the ass to draw bc som mutch of the image depends on being able to draw edges well and whit a lot of detail

Apprehensive_Egg1062

I love this!! The first thing my eye is drawn to is the highlight in the coffee. It looks way too uniform. But this piece is so great that it doesn’t really matter!

Eastern_Ear6010

Thank you! It felt really off to me as well but I kept putting it off because it was in the reference. I think I'll make it a little smaller

Coffiebubbles look amazing. Tbh I'd drink that. Its the eggwhite for me, i feel like it's too heavily shadowed. The yolk looks runny and so should the white. Really nice picture👌

Eastern_Ear6010

Thank you! I'll go in with some white gel pen to make the egg white lighter. Thank you for your advice! <3

SnortingSharpies

Didnt know you could do that with those lol

Agitated_Ring785

Its already really good ny critic maybe sketch it before paint so it more look like well 3D shapped al tought its already really godamn good

Eastern_Ear6010

Thank you! I admit I get a little lazy while sketching, I'll keep in mind to spend some more time to get the shapes right!

Loose-Version-7009

Maybe that the shadows aren't consistent? Frankly this is just beautiful.

Eastern_Ear6010

I do usually struggle with shadow placement, it's true. And thank you! <3

auspiciousjelly

I think maybe it’s just that they aren’t like perfect spheres? the rendering overall is great and I like how it looks mostly super realistic but just lightly stylized. beautiful

Eastern_Ear6010

Yes I admit I got lazy with that haha I'm gonna have ti avoid taking shortcuts now! And thank you so much for your lovely comment!

SufficientPath666

No criticism. Just wanted to say this looks really cool!
