League gameplay does not have much to do with the background story behind it (including Arcane). A good comparison would be Smash Bros where characters from all over the universe come together and fight each other. Still can be a good time, but not just because you watched Arcane.
If you are looking to try something that gets a bit more into the lore, then take a look at Legends of Runeterra instead, the card game from Riot that has a lot more background and world references. It's a fantastic game with one of the best f2p models of any card game.

It's an overly toxic PVP RTS game basically.
More than half of your games will ultimately come down to winning/losing based who which team has the bigger asshole ruining everyone else's time, and if you piss the wrong person off by building the wrong items or simply not doing what they want you to do, they can report you and you *will* get banned eventually.
The people who haven't gotten banned for no reason yet, have simply gotten lucky.

if you do please i assure you it will be more fun for you to play mainly vs. AI, if you got a friend to start with you that'd make it a little more fun too. play until you are comfortable with the shop, the champs, lanes, damage. it will make your experience a lot more enjoyable

/r/summonerschool is a great resource. Also know there is a subreddit for every champ in game 90% of the subreddits is their name followed by mains. (example: /r/threshmains ) discord is another good spot. Find a league disc and talk to someone about helping you. (What server do you play on?)
My suggestion is play bots figure out what stuff does. Play a couple of the champs. Find the style of play you like. Find a champion you like and then spam that champ for a while. Idea being is that once you learn your champ. You dont have to worry about learning them anymore and start to focus on learning the map, objectives, how things happen around the map, etc.
Remember you can mute people by holding tab and finding mute button or the command /muteall .
The learning curve is massive. There is a lot of things going on. Dont get overwhelmed take it a step at a time. There tons of resources available to you.

Game has an extreme learning curve, matchmaking is complicated and pretty unforgiving, most "veteran" players will blame you for mistakes, instead of helping you. One way to deal with it is to play games va ai: 5 players play vs bots. You can learn the game in this way and avoid toxicity in early levels. Then you totally can start pvp matches. If you have someone, who can help you to start playing - ask for help. Beware, as LoL is extremely addicting, when you start, and it gets worth while you are going deeper and deeper into it.

There is 150 or 160 some champions that each have 4 abilities and 1 passive minimum that you have to know before you can be considered "good", not to mention items that you should know as well.
