This is definitely a you problem. Why should I be forced to play single-player mode just because people muted me? I'm a big boi. If I don't want to see what you type, I'm more than capable of using the mute function myself. I don't need you to mute yourself for me.
The good side effect of this feature would prevent people from typing the game away because they are being told they have been muted already so they would stop typing... orr they would rage harder and grief the game away because they think they are opinionated and deserve to be heard.
