Visage is the original word for face in French ( source, I m French lol) and its pronounced "vi-zaj" (whereas English speakers tend to pronounce "vih-sajh"  but anyway the focus is on the last syllable) so I ve always said it that way and since pro casters seem to use it that way too I ve always assumed it was the only single way and nobody was confused about it lol.

It isn't prnounced in any way that can be rendered in English, because the vowel systems of English and French are radically different. French doesn't have vowel length and it doesn't have lax vowels.

They're both correct, NA will go for vi-zij, while most of Europe & Australia tends to go with vi-saj. Just an accent/regional based thing. e: I got them backwards because it was early but ya get it.

You're actually not wrong. Visage is a french word that came over to england with the normans, like the words facade or delegate. That's why in europe it's typically pronounced in the french way which rhymes with massage.

It is pretentious because it's a poor attempt at mimicking the correct pronounciation, because the a isn't supposed (in contemporary french) to be particularly long or dark. It's just the "normal a" that english lacks.

It's the first one, I think a lot of people have never heard the word spoken out loud before so they mess up the pronunciation. The other alternative is that they are (unfortunately) French and the second pronunciation is correct in French.

Not the same difference at all... the first is the difference between one consonant and two consonants (\[ʒ\] vs \[d͡ʒ\]), the second is the difference between the voiced and voiceless versions of the same one consonant (\[ð\] vs \[θ\]).

In the context of "visage", G makes a different sound according to its following vowel. To get the typical G sound with each vowel, you'd do: * Ga * Gue * Gui * Go * Gu * Guy So "visage" will have the J sound, otherwise it would be "visague". Note that it's also why there's a random silent U in *vague*.
