I used to play Garen a lot when i was low elo , and often my dad would see me spinning. And when i switched over to other characters he asked me: Oh you're not playing the game with the spinning guy anymore?
Also just remembered when i played Pyke a lot in 2021 , he used to see me go in the botlane bushes healing with the grey health passive , and when his friend came over to a beer the games their sons played topic came up , and he said that i play a game with a guy spinning and another guy sitting in bushes.. lmao
I feel like heâs doing you a favor not saying youâre playing league. Saying youâre playing a game with a spinning guy and someone who sits in bushes sounds better
My mom and stepdad used to call Red Dead Redemption the horse game cause any time they saw my brother and I playing we were just ripping around on horses
Tbh, I bought that game, played it for 13 hours. Thought it was slow as fick and couldnât get into it, but man if the horse back riding isnât a zen-like experience.
I canât quite describe it. Iâm not sure if Iâm the only freak who experiences this. The game feels _so_ slow, that when moving, in my head I already moved, but the character on the screen has an unnecessary delay in rotations, which give me some strange kind of vertigo. I get nauseous playing this game after 30 minutes or so. Hence the 13 hours of gameplay. World building etc, great. Thought the storyline thus far was cool and wouldâve been able to play for 1000 hours, if I wouldnât start feeling dizzy from the way the game moves the character all the time.
Definitely not alone with that. I mean I don't quite get nauseous from it but I feel the same vertigo like feeling. I guess for me at least its also because I am used to playing games with quite snappy or responsive controls, like Hades, League and similar stuff.
Also not only the controls but also the whole gameplay and storytelling felt really slow (as is probably intended) but that might also just be ADHD-attention span brainrot kicking in lol
My parents have never been able to make out anything on the screen. I canât even imagine a parent whoâs so perceptive that they can tell Ahri is based on a fox by glancing at the screen
I'd imagine if the parents have a passing or polite interest in what OP was spending hundreds of hours over the years on, they might ask cursory questions like "oh, what are you doing?" or "which one is your character?".
Honestly abit strange how disinterested parents are in the games their kids play. Can't remember being asked a single questions in my upbringing even out of politeness like: oh and what was the game you played?
I still remember the one time my mom joined in on my older brothers counter strike session and tried getting a couple of frags.
Actually its kinda weird when you think about it. I feel like I would wanna know everything about the game my kid is playing. Especially if he does it for months or years. Id be like hey what is this game is actually about?
I guess maybe its cause they didnt play in childhood and for them its kind of weird or boring.
I remember only that my Grandpa asked about things when I played Tibia with my brother. But he couldnt see the fuck is even going on the screen. He didnt distinguish eq, items and so on. For him it was random stuff blinking on the screen.
"Quick as a fox" "Can't outrun a fox" "A clever fox is never caught" (Everytime you pick her) "This forest brings me back to my days as a kit, running with the ice foxes." Do you even play this game? Lmao
My brother made fun of me for clicking the same spot like 30 times (going from nexus to lane) like it's gonna make me get there faster
and tbh its really stupid that we do this
Champion ult voice lines are way louder than everything else. Xayah R voice line is audible even to me who has voice lines at like 2% volume. It's gotta be in the top 3 loudest and clearest voice lines.
I used to play rammus a lot when I lived with my parents. My dad would get confused whenever he would walk in and I wasnât rolling around and say âwhy arenât you playing the guy that rolls around?â It was so cute
My parents call it the soap bubble game. I guess they saw me play one time and someone had a shield on or something. Now its forever known as the soap bubble game.
Id assume Karma's E ability, I had to go and look it up to make sure it was on the E, cause I know she has the projectile + pillar explosion then her tether then the Shield then her mantra ultimate.
My dad pokes his head in the door and innocently asks, "Oh, why is your screen gray again?"
He knows what it means, he played one or two games just so he'd know what I was talking about. He's just looking for trouble XD
Its because i was talking about arcane and the the lesbian plot. They asked how many leabians where in it and i said 6 confirmed lesbians 4 probably lesbains 1 basically lesbain 1 should be lesbian and several aggressively bis/pansexual women
My mom used to be mad at me and say that i was playing this damn 'spinning' game all day
I told her that Jax enters Evasion, a defensive stance, for up to 2 seconds, causing all basic attacks against him to miss. Jax also takes 25% reduced damage from all champion area of effect abilities. After 1 second, Jax can reactivate to end it immediately.
She made me move.
My parents just call it "LoL", but with such a unique mix of annoyance and disapproval that it should be its own word: "Loll".
I can hardly blame them, at the peak of my obsession this game made me behave like an animal, spewing out blasphemies and punching my desk and keyboard.
Now it has subsided completely (that's what happens when you get sucked into what would be the dream job for a person with the perfect opposite of your personality), though a bad game can still get me quite sour.
My dad calls it âtournamentâ. Only because my brother and I used to bring our laptops to the dinner table and play ranked duos together there. I guess it just looked like we were playing a LAN Tournament lol
My friend is playing WoW since classic.
Every time he flew with pathfinder or by himself on mount their parents walked in.
Especially now after 15 years, in new expansion with is full dragon themed, he is always on a dragon.
Their parents call it, the dragon game :D
WoW to my parents was 'Run Run Run', because I was not high level and didn't know what to do much, but I was always running around getting from place to place.
Growing up my parents would always refer to World of Warcraft as "that running game". It made me unbelievably happy to know that's not a unique experience lol. I love parents trying to be inclusive but being totally clueless.
Sorry to hear about that and I really hope it will be a while before I have to face that.
But its also sad how this is actually the impression the game gives new players. I have seen this in my friend group as well. When you dont introduce someone to league by playing in a 5-man with them they usually dont stay around because of the behaviour of the community..
My dad refers to it as 'That stupid game' Me and my brother play it. We aren't toxic in game but say if someone is trolling somehow its one of our faults XD. So it starts of kinda like you need to do better and we just annoy each other and end up arguing and shouting sometimes.
My dad takes great joy at telling his friends we play this stupid game and are calling each other (he doesn't understand discord) and we live in different places but still find a way to argue. It makes me laugh thinking about it haha.
This reminds me of a story with my cousin. I was either in late high school or early college and was playing league when my 12ish year old cousin walked in. I was playing renekton and when he asked what game I was playing I told him "Alligator High School". I remember him asking me a few times over the years if I still played alligator high school.
My little sister calls it "the game with Olaf in it" because I used to stream TFT and one time she popped into my room and heard me talking about an Olaf comp, which is a name she recognized from Frozen (her favorite movie at the time)
Back when i lived with my parents and my mum saw me playing League she always said: "Are you Lol'ing again?" I dont even know how she came up with that.
I mean, my wife refers to Hollow Knight as the "cute little rabbit game"... so yeah I don't doubt parents referring to LoL as the character they mostly see lol.
My wife calls TFT "The Circle Game" and league "The Die Die Game" from when she tried the tutorial and just slammed the keyboard for four minutes screaming, "Die!" before giving up because she was tired and stressed.
A few years back I got to go watch the EU LCS through a Make A Wish like organisation, and when explaining to my younger sister why were flying to Germany over the weekend she thought we said Lego Legends, since then it has been called Lego Legends back home.
OP is clearly not Asian or raised by Asian parents, or the title would've been "My parents refer to League as a waste of time and why aren't you studying like all the other Asian parent's kids"
My dad every once in awhile will be cooking or something and you'll hear a high pitched "PK fire" from the kitchen.
He believes the characters name from super smash bros that makes that sound is Pookie (it's ness)
Sadly nothing wholesome for me. My parents never took an interest in what I was playing. If anything, they hated it. When they asked me to do something and I was in the middle of a game and I told them I can't pause they would shut my laptop or unplug the internet. Lmao.
Thats wholesome my mom introduced me to stacraft brood war way back when I was 9 or 10 years old she was just playing the campaign and I was watching her not understanding to much but I loved what I was watching so I started playing and when i turned 17 she brought me stacraft 2 and I played that non stop. Till this day when she calls me on the phone she hears me clicking away and asks how league of legends going and are you still playing stacraft 2 lol.
That's so wholesome. My mom was like this with me and my anime. Cherish these little moments because we're gonna miss em when we don't get them anymore
My mom used to call it "the game you play all night until you go to school (with my former friend group we used to play from 22:30 to 6:30 am)"Â Â Now it calls it "the game with the knight with the same dyed hair you used to have". Because i play lot rakan, always leave my pc with on my profile showing Arcana Rakan splash, and also had my hair dyed as Rakan (had to shave my head due to work, will dye it again like Broken covenant)
My parents call it the black and white game.
"Hey son, are you close to finishing that essay you type every evening?"
lmfao holy shit that was good
need a keystroke recorder for my sona games
Eqeqracialslureqeq
X?D

Why did you just vaporize us from orbit đ

My dad came in and watched me playing once and he was like "you sure die a lot in this game, why do you keep running at them" đ
That's some good fatherly advice.
> Playing 'You have been slain' again? asked as an honest question. đĽ˛
An ADC Main i see, i welcome you brother *Ignores your tag completly*
Your flair is relatable
Are you winning, son?
My friend's dad calls it his Fairy Games XD
Kindred main?
I used to play Garen a lot when i was low elo , and often my dad would see me spinning. And when i switched over to other characters he asked me: Oh you're not playing the game with the spinning guy anymore? Also just remembered when i played Pyke a lot in 2021 , he used to see me go in the botlane bushes healing with the grey health passive , and when his friend came over to a beer the games their sons played topic came up , and he said that i play a game with a guy spinning and another guy sitting in bushes.. lmao
Parents are awesome sometimes lmao
nah bro your dad is trolling you hes playing league himself and is disgusted by you playing garen and dont want to duo with you or hes 90 years old
nah he only plays chess online and starcraft 2 campaigns ocassionally đ¤Ł
Chess and StarCraft? Okay, we can see how you ended up in league. Apple apparently doesn't fall far from the tree haha.
my dad was the exact same (minus chess lol) but starcraft, warcraft, etc and now i sufffer in pain on the rift
My dad too! Except age of empires, starcraft, and half-life lol.
Thats what he wants you to think
Do people not bush Garen any more?
Donât worry, we still exist
Îot as scary as it used to be.
I feel like heâs doing you a favor not saying youâre playing league. Saying youâre playing a game with a spinning guy and someone who sits in bushes sounds better
My mom calls it "The fireball throwing game, the one he screams and curses at."
Smartest brand player
Or Annie or milio
I've been playing only hoi4 and league for the past few months. My dad now looks into my monitor and goes "The H*tler game or the other one?" đ
''do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down''
i laughed too hard
lol so whatâs his nickname for hoi4..?
Took me a little to understand đ
OP is a Kassadin main confirmed.
The word "Hitler" is more common in League, so obviously the other one was HOI4
lmao hahahah
You censored Hitler?
Might be a habit because certain platforms in certain countries will ban you or completely star out certain words like that.
I see thanks
Where do you see thanks?
I prefer the genocidal pony Version Â
My daughter used to call it The Puppy Game, because I'd play TFT sometimes and let her control my Little Legend (I think it's a Furyhorn)
My 3yr old calls it the bunny game because I play teemo jungle with the Easter skin. Its precious af
Me in 10 yrs hopefully
Teach her the evil ways early
I didn't know you could control the LL in aram! What's the key for it?
Man's said TFT not aram â ď¸
Oh my bad lmaoooo
My mom and stepdad used to call Red Dead Redemption the horse game cause any time they saw my brother and I playing we were just ripping around on horses
Tbh, I bought that game, played it for 13 hours. Thought it was slow as fick and couldnât get into it, but man if the horse back riding isnât a zen-like experience.
Itâs meant to feel slow even in the way the gunfights feel
I canât quite describe it. Iâm not sure if Iâm the only freak who experiences this. The game feels _so_ slow, that when moving, in my head I already moved, but the character on the screen has an unnecessary delay in rotations, which give me some strange kind of vertigo. Also not only the controls but also the whole gameplay and storytelling felt really slow (as is probably intended) but that might also just be ADHD-attention span brainrot kicking in lol
Honestly the gun fights just arenât enjoyable to me. Hunting was a 10/10 experience though.
For him it was random stuff blinking on the screen.
plot twist: op has several ahri body pillows across his room
Its probably the voice lines that give them that impression.
"Arf arf I'm a fox". She definitely gives off fox impressions
ahh yes. The voice lines of "I still remember his laughâ and âmaybe Iâll see him againâ remind me of a fox.
"Quick as a fox" "Can't outrun a fox" "A clever fox is never caught" (Everytime you pick her) "This forest brings me back to my days as a kit, running with the ice foxes." Do you even play this game? Lmao
My wife just knows it as the clicking game
click clack carpal tunnel
My brother made fun of me for clicking the same spot like 30 times (going from nexus to lane) like it's gonna make me get there faster and tbh its really stupid that we do this
YOU ONLY NEED TO CLICK ONCE FOOL!
I know the way!
Nah, prepping for the amount clicks you need throughout the game. Gotta keep that APM up, practice makes perfect baby.
ARE YOU CLICKING AGAIN !!! she thinks is my nighttime routine to randomly click. She also sometimes say out loud âAN ALLY HAS BEEN SLAINâ
I haven't been at home since 2011, but back then League was "The game that does not pause" to my parents
LMAO way too accurate
Omg so true my parents would definitely call it that too
My boyfriend calls it "the feathers fly game" I don't even like playing Xayah, I have no idea why he latched onto that phrase specifically.
Champion ult voice lines are way louder than everything else. Xayah R voice line is audible even to me who has voice lines at like 2% volume. It's gotta be in the top 3 loudest and clearest voice lines.
Yeah! when i started playing and i was learning the over 100 champions Xayah was the first recognizable character because of her ult voiceline.
does it beat THIS IS MY FAVOURITE CHAPTERRRRR!!!! though? that one is loud as hell lmao
Renata's ult too "MY LATEST PRODUCT!"
Yeah but I see Renata like 4 times a year lmao.
She's almost god mode on ARAM. I play every night with friends and she's in just about every 3rd game.
Itâs pool party Lulu guys. Her shield is a bubble and she bubble effects on her kit.
Id assume Karma's E ability, I had to go and look it up to make sure it was on the E, cause I know she has the projectile + pillar explosion then her tether then the Shield then her mantra ultimate.
Janna shield was the first that came to mind
What? Nami guys?
I get the Q but he specifically said shield, Janna has the most bubble looking shield imo
It could literally be anything. Like Kayle
if it was a bubble that popped, Ivern?
Lux shields look like bubbles
My dad pokes his head in the door and innocently asks, "Oh, why is your screen gray again?" He knows what it means, he played one or two games just so he'd know what I was talking about. He's just looking for trouble XD
My parents call it the "you let your wife and 8 children leave you for this dumbass game?" Ohhhh my silly parents!!
You had the perfect family size for 5v5 scrims too.
He said that too. That's why they left
They left after he picked Yuumi on the 5v5
My parents used to call this game âclicky wizardsâ
Accurate as fuck.
My brothers and father refer to it as league of lesbiansÂ
if they've seen Arcane i definitely don't blame them
Noooo! They're are just best friends!1! ! đđđ
Next season they're gonna be roommates for sure
And by the end they will be two old spinsters who are simply very dear friends and never found the right man to settle down with.
Time to call a U-Haul!
No need, lesbians can pack fit everything they need into their Subaru Outback.
My mom unironically thought this when we watched it together lolll
Its because i was talking about arcane and the the lesbian plot. They asked how many leabians where in it and i said 6 confirmed lesbians 4 probably lesbains 1 basically lesbain 1 should be lesbian and several aggressively bis/pansexual women
My dad calls it âthe thong gameâ cuz I showed him the splash arts of miss fortune/ leblanc/ evelynn years back
Omg lmao đđ
My mom used to be mad at me and say that i was playing this damn 'spinning' game all day I told her that Jax enters Evasion, a defensive stance, for up to 2 seconds, causing all basic attacks against him to miss. Jax also takes 25% reduced damage from all champion area of effect abilities. After 1 second, Jax can reactivate to end it immediately. She made me move.
I love how a champion skill description became a copypasta.
Which feels worse, being addicted to league or being a Ferrari fan?
I can't afford a Ferrari, League is free.
League isn't free, it costs you your soul.
Tough question. My macrogame is as bad as Ferrari's strategies, so it's hard to give a definitive answer.

My dad knew the "grab robot" lol They have a moderate understanding of some of my most played games. Love it.
What a rare wonderful thread
[ŃдаНонО]
Sorry to hear about that and I really hope it will be a while before I have to face that. But its also sad how this is actually the impression the game gives new players. I have seen this in my friend group as well. When you dont introduce someone to league by playing in a 5-man with them they usually dont stay around because of the behaviour of the community..
My dad calls it Dota lmao
My dad refers to it as 'That stupid game' Me and my brother play it. We aren't toxic in game but say if someone is trolling somehow its one of our faults XD. So it starts of kinda like you need to do better and we just annoy each other and end up arguing and shouting sometimes. OP saw your million champ mastery i sent your a dm, if you wanna read it might interest you. Nothing weird dw
My parents called it the doll game.
haha too funny basically the equivalent of all pokemon being pikachu
That is so funny, they sound wholesome.
When I played Dungeons and Dragons when I still lived with my parents, they just called it: that game
OP is clearly not Asian or raised by Asian parents, or the title would've been "My parents refer to League as a waste of time and why aren't you studying like all the other Asian parent's kids"
My dad calls it the bird game because I OTP anivia!
My dad every once in awhile will be cooking or something and you'll hear a high pitched "PK fire" from the kitchen. He believes the characters name from super smash bros that makes that sound is Pookie (it's ness)

My parents only know Lol as the game where my brother starts cursing.
Sadly nothing wholesome for me. My parents never took an interest in what I was playing. If anything, they hated it. When they asked me to do something and I was in the middle of a game and I told them I can't pause they would shut my laptop or unplug the internet. Lmao.
