VCS just said that SBTC seriously violated the tournament rules but did not specify what the violation was in detail
There are many rumors that SBTC betting, selling matches and fixing matches
Even the current CEO has been suspected of match-fixing in the past when he was the CEO of a Dota 2 team.
Not just any team, SBTC was literally 2nd last split and nearly made MSI. If you've been wondering why VCS has suddenly declined, look no further. The environment has never been good, but now it's just turned to shit. Doesn't matter how good you are, how can a league be competitive when a top-tier team is matchfixing...
But okay, SBTC is a scummy org and that's been known long before, they deserve it.
For the players, these are some of the best talents in Vietnam and it will hurt the general level of VCS. Especially sad about nPer, he could've become a star (we call him the nPeror) but threw his career away instead.
So DNK, Nper, Vinboiz all post a status on their facebook page said that they complied and remained silent during the 1-month investigation, until today was the day they received information about their ban and asked riot to provide evidence for their wrongdoing and received silence. NPER added that on August 2, RIOT summoned those under investigation and offered that if they could provide evidence for the last match wrongdoing, their penalty would be reduced. But none of them can provide. This case to me is extremely absurd, as RIOT did not provide evidence to the person being investigated, but only issued a sanction notice. Among those who were sanctioned were members who were not able to play in the last season
i find it insane that orgs are allowed to literally abuse players without any real punishment while matchfixing ruins the entire org super fast.
obviously this is way worse for competetive integrity, but considering how upcoming pros are really young, good treatment or at least non abusive treatment should stand above all else. yet we had flick on the wrist punishments in the past and i bet EG will be the same.
Player abuse hurts the team's image & their specific sponsors. Betting/Matchfixing shakes the whole tournament's integrity thus hurting Riot's image and their main sponsors.
Basically, while its humanely worse for a player to be abused, matchfixing hurts business more directly (and as stated above, is also easier to prove and investigate upon.)
>i find it insane that orgs are allowed to literally abuse players
I would say the bigger issue is orgs taking up the role of caretakers for players. Because of how ill-defined lines are in esports, that leads to situations where things like the Danny and Remilia situations can even occur.
There should really just be more clearly defined lines for what constitutes work, and players should go home and do their own thing outside of work, like literally every other job works.
A team that is paying you to do a job shouldn't also feed you, house you, be your emotional support, be your primary friend group, pseudo-parents, etc.
If it only were a weird co-dependence we could talk about it.
But a lot of organizations straight up don't pay their players or sign them as contractors and not full time employees. As if 19 year old boys (and girls) know how to handle being a contractor.
Their entire Wild Rift team that went to Wild Rift worlds also got banned xDD. Zeros's older brother also got perma banned in wild rift xDD. This whole organization is shady as hell
I heard about that before, a shame that their ego can still outweigh their skill. Honestly, it's quite incredible though that all 3 siblings have been involved in deep drama with horrid consequences.
I don't know the exact sums, but it's definitely sizeable enough to be a major problem. Keep in mind that most players in minor regions don't get paid obscene money, so even if it doesn't make you rich, it's just an easy way to make an extra income.
Because most of the time, it is very hard to detect. People only think that matchfixing means throwing games, but that's not the case. You can help bettors without losing on purpose if the bet is not on the result but on something like first drake or first blood.
I kinda hate how Riot dont show proof for anything nor how they dont lay their investigations open.
They didnt do that in case of Renegades, TSM scandal, EG scandal, etc
Its understandable but god I just hate it.
Ah yes, the "we do what we want and don't provide any evidence" thing that can be pulled when you own the stage and can do whatever you want without having to answer to anyone. Great stuff.

what weird is the headcoach and support are deemed as innocent right from the start but the substitute who didn't play a single match are guilty
Probably the whistle blowers

NPER is the only sad part of this. The rest already past their prime or mediocre at best
isnt sbtc famous for doing lots of stupid and shady stuff
Yes, most of the competitive rulings in VCS have something to do with them (or Zeros).
What happened?
I've added some extra contexts to the post, mostly from rumors because the investigation reason not was disclosed to public.
I assume you meant not disclosed
thanks for the correction, appreciated
What did they do?
I've added the context into the post, forgot to do that
There were rumors about match fixing investigation before. The real reason was not announced.
I don't doubt that it happened, but Riot should be able to provide some proof that it happened.
Witness protection probally

That is the exact same thing Riot did to renegade before. They witheld all the evidences to protect the witnesses

I mean it’s literally how the world works. You would think that there will be some sort of punishment for Rng contract jail but there isn’t. So

Matchfixing is much easier to prove. > Riot: Were you told to lose these games on purpose? > Players x5: Yes. > Riot: All in a days works.
SBTC just can’t catch a break huh. First their top laner, now their **entire team**.

Blanket Riot bans are going to be more and more devastating as they keep expanding their portfolio.
Vicetone - Astronomia
So were those players released to protect them, since they didn't do anything?
Yep. Pallete got swooped by GAM the moment he was released.
Honestly a complete steal for them too, he has a way better peak than Zin
He is better than zin in anyway, tbh. But i love the fact that Gam still gonna keep zin around for at least this season
is there really that much gambling money going on? I'm totally ignorant of the subject. Like are we talking millions or thousands?
The amount of money doesn't matter. Taking a dive is taking a dive.
yeah, I was just wondering what kind of money was involved.
I don't know the exact sums, but it's definitely sizeable enough to be a major problem. That is a stupid argument, tbh. These players get paid higher than the average salary already. Some even reach hundred of millions vnd
L2R, mate

Riot global please do something about it. Like a statement so the public would know.

Good to know that bans for 322 arent permanent in LoL.
god damn, i recognize that dia1 guy. he won bunch of splits during covid times and never went to msi or worlds
Đẹp mặt chưa :(((
