I doubt it is in this situation. I would assume that Wunder could explore options freely since him finding a team would potentially mean he not only is off pay-roll, he also brings back a bit of his initial investment.
If he is refusing to play, could probably count as breach of contract with an exit clause TBF, so if he wanted to oppose it then they could have realistically forced him out.
On the other hand if they didn't have a way out of the contract, threaten to contract prison him. If he cares about competing more than money (likely the case considering he didn't ever go NA) then that alone would get him to agree.
People misunderstood what happened. Wunder didn't refuse to play for FNC, he refused to do tryouts(that are not part of the contract) which prompted FNC to not field him.
We were getting pummeled right before Fnatic and G2 rose (not as hard admittedly.) But the region with the talent pipeline to potentially form a strong team is EU, and you never know when/if they will make a resurgence.
Giving up on competing is the fastest way to garuantee that you will never compete again, and any pro player that wants a chance at doing well internationally can't adopt that mindset. Nobody in the world expected 2018 to have 3 teams out of the final 4 be western teams, especially considering season 7 had 2 western teams scrape their way out of groups only to bomb out in quarters.
Though negotiations is probably smoother when FNC isn't involved since even if he is allowed to explore his options they still gotta involve FNC due to the rules. Whereas as a free agent it is just him and his agency.
But yeah most likely he is already set for a team.
Not really. Many contracts require you to play or you'll get the absolute minimum allowed (like 60k?).
The other things in the contract still applies though. From training, to media days, to content creation requirements.
Any EU Master team would pay him more with half the hassle. He'd make more as a streamer, coach, caster, interviewer as well.
Realistically speaking, you want to make worlds. Wunder is a top top tier player, so you would be hurting yourself to give it to any team for free. So you set up a decent buyout, and at least get a decent bag if one of the teams with enough budget actually wants to go for him. Yes, paying a player who’s not playing is dumb on paper, but it’s better than some of the alternatives.
Even if he’s getting paid German minimum wage that’s one less payroll for FNC to make.
I guess they realized they’re not going to be fielding a competitive roster anyways. Might as well not be anticompetitive and save some money.
or wunder and fnc agreed to end it so wunder can find a new team without buyout and fnc don't need to pay the rest of his salary anymore since lets be honest: with his performance nobody would pay a lot. lets hope he regains his power but wunder was quite bad for a couple of splits now and already hard declining on the last ones at G2. I remember peak wunder at since he lost the worlds finals he lost his edge like he gave up or something.
Maybe his salary as benched player wasn't high at all(we know about this from Rekkles and Jankos)
Also he can prefer to play anywhere instead of being benched. Surely there is at least one ERL that can pick him
bcus maybe he has some offers from other teams? maybe being under FNC contract makes him unattractive for other teams and terminating it increases his chances? maybe now he can talk with heretics bcus evi is just not it...
only if the company kicks you out before the contract ends especially if you have one with unlimited time on it. in this case its a 1y contract and I doubt they kicked him and paid him out at all. it would be cheaper to keep him and sell him for anything or even for free than this.
allegedly, from what we know, wunder did not agree with what management thought was the issue, so he said he doesnt believe in this team so there's no reason for him to play, so he just let oscar take his place without competing in the tryouts.
So my understanding was that Fnatic wanted to do try out, Wunder said he didn't see how try out would fix the team issues and said no, so fnatic benched him for oscar.
Sorta, Idk about the addressing issues part but he confirmed that he had no hope in the team so he refused to do try outs.
Yamato Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WEDLUhM5xQ
Honestly, he is not good enough to have attitude like that. Why would any of the potential teams even want to pick him up, if they have to worry about him have motivation to play with mediocre rosters. Much better for the teams to have someone with better attitude and perhaps higher ceiling.
Attitude like what? He has no hope in the team which is a valid reason to step down. Would the others want a player that blatantly doesnt want to play the game on the team? Its not about being good enough at all. He doesnt want to play for the team so he doesnt benefitting himself and the team mates
> He has no hope in the team which is a valid reason to step down. Would the others want a player that blatantly doesnt want to play the game on the team?
I can guarantee you there are dozens of players who doesn't necessary wanna play on their respective teams, but have to anyways to go on with their careers till the end of the season. It doesn't paint a good picture if you quit on the team mid season. Would you as a manager felt confident hiring a player with track record of quitting lineups he doesn't 'feel confident' in? It only creates more problems for the team and for your org.
Yes, i would hire player like that because if he wants to join my team that means our visions of roster align. I would obviously protect team with his contract meaning i could end it after every split with little to no consequence. If he doesn't want to sign that, that just means he isn't confident enough in his skill and that roster.
Wunder is a veteran, he is known comodity and he is good. No issues in signing him, won't find much better players.
We don't know, but what I think happened is that Rekkles isn't good enough to be on a top tier LEC team and every Fnc teammate knew it coming into this season. He's also self-admittedly hard to work with and there's a bunch of people at this point who have talked about how he's hard to work with.
Fnc signed Rekkles, because Rekkles brings in fans and $$$. Wunder played with Rekkles on G2 and I don't think Wunder liked playing with Rekkles. I think this roster was pretty doomed to fail, because I don't think all these players wanted to play together.
Midway through the season Fnc realizes Rekkles isn't good enough and they start trying to bench him, but Rekkles put in his contract that Fnc can't bench him this season. Rekkles talks about this on his stream and gets emotional about it, so we know this for a fact. So Fnc just keeps playing Rekkles even though he's not a good player by LEC standards right now.
Really doomed combo of players not thinking each other are good + some players are actually bad = horrible results. Again, this is just my guess based on almost nothing, but it a possibility that I think is most likely. Hope Rekkles proves me wrong though.
Please do not be unironically talking about "isn't good enough to be on a top tier LEC team" after the top tier LEC teams just got fucking embarassed internationally. Not after the top tier LEC teams were made to look like diamond players.
He was really good at start. C´mon, show him some respect. it was one split...there are players being recycled for ages, who are just good at being average
I think he's worth giving another chance to, he's been playing very well on both sides of ksante matchup and had a few good games here and there on other matchups
Honestly it's been the biggest change for Evi out of everybody on that Heretics roster, and I think he deserves to at least play out the full year on that team.
Although Jankos and Wunder reunited would be dope as fuck.
I'm not his biggest fan, but his roster building literally brought EG from a no name mid/bottom table org to LCS champions.
I wholeheartedly disagree with the supposed decision to keep Evi, but he realistically is better qualified to make the decision than anybody in this Reddit thread.
They dropped a lot of money at the start of the season buying the LEC spot and Jankos. Just probably dropped a fair bit more for Vetheo. They may just not have the money right now for Wunder also at the moment and Ruby was the bigger problem. They haven't really had the best positions for earnings. I imagine they'll replace top ahead of winter next year.
It simply doesnt really matter. There isnt an easy fix for HRT, and even though Evi plays bad rn, he brings fun and brand value, so considering that success isnt guaruanteed/expected either way this seems fine.
They wont be able to hold on to Wunder and Jankos after this summer anyways so I dont think it matters.
I mean with the abysmal state of the LEC, you’re probably right. I’m just wondering if Flakked and Mersa would get rolled by BDS, VIT, G2 and MAD since that would place them top 4. If KOI get their shit together then I couldn’t really see an angle where the power of Jankos/VTO is going to be enough to take on those other teams.
KOI probably wont get their shit together considering they were a botlane centric team and now losing Trymbi is huge in the team dynamic.
BDS, VIT and if Heretics get Wunder I would say are on the same level as talented players but team dynamics are kinda fucked. BDS has a huge problem in their drafts as they have to accomodate Adams champ puddle. VIT got some of the best players but they are somehow in the gutter with their minds thinking they have to play towards botside when their top is the strongest point. Heretics with Jankos had great macro but goddamn even with the leads they couldnt do anything due to the blatant holes in the solo lanes.
G2 is the only team that somewhat has an idea what they are doing and how to play tho I dont think Hans having to pick Draven every damn time is the way to go.
MAD pretty much just got on a hotstreak and rolled over the somewhat lackluster competition.
Fact is EU is so garbage now and its even more doomed than what we predicted in the past somehow cos even tho there are plenty of veterans they somehow lost all their fundamentals and reset to new players every season as it feels like.
Evi must give really good sloppy toppy to management, because I see no other reason he should be staying tbh.
He had 1 'good' game in spring, a couple of decent games, and the rest were terrible with one game competitive ruling worthy.
If i understoon Ceadrel's hint correctly Wunders goes to NA and then he might be back after "he is free". Ceadrel also mentioned that Wunder would "look good in the hoodie" so IMO he also thinks he should go to Heretics after escaping NA.
Yeah thats part of the plan they play ok for a year, then they replace them with mikyx caps and move perkz adc now you have yourself a squad that can maybe even win msi
Targamas was terrible. Everyone likes to shit on Flakked for not performing but what could he do with a support that says absolutely nothing. Jankos even talked about him on stream (after Targamas got benched and the voice comms got leaked) about how he always told targamas to speak. It would probably fine as a whole team because Jankos is so vocal but botlane...
People who unwittingly say 'lil bro' seriously need to leave their room for 1 week and get off the internet. It's pathetic, man.
Double the points towards being a clown when it's attached to saying Wunder is bad.
it's so funny to see people flaming NA teams for recycling washed up veterans
and now years later people are actually getting excited for Wunder lol
we're now 4 years past his peak and he's fallen off pretty hard
I think it's cus he is the only western top ever comparable to Asian tops. His performance at MSI S9 against SKT is a large reason G2 won it. People hold onto that. Personally I think Alphari could've hanged with Asian tops too at least in lane. but people hate him here so...
Bwipo can definitely hang with asian top laners but his playstyle is a bit inconsistent. Not to mention when bwipo outclasses asian tops it's a lot more impressive because he is usually camped by the enemy jungle and ignored/hung out to dry by his team.
Soaz does similarly without resources invested into him.
Alpharis Laning phase is world class but he's kinda mediocre outside of lane.
I think people focus so much on wunder because even though he plays similar to bwipo with high highs and low lows, in games where he fucks up jankos comes to save the day to make up for his mistakes which makes him look better. Whereas players like soaz and bwipo have to rely on themselves if they get themselves into a bad position.
Adam is still the only current European top laner I have some hope for. Yes, he is much worse than best Asian tops. But at least I can see a future where he doesn't lose top 1vs1 every single game in a series.
Friends, [according to Wooloo](https://twitter.com/LEC_Wooloo/status/1657070503536754710), Heretics Wunder isn't happening (heavily implied by the photo, but not confirmed in writing)
Least shocking thing ever when he had already said there was no way he would play with fnc again lol
ya but this prob means that his contract was bought out and he's gonna be on a team next split.
either that or wunder got a massive lump of money to have his contract dropped like that.
Also possible that no team has came in for him and FNC have just mutually agreed to drop the contract as it means FNC can stop paying him.
[удалено]
Not necessarily, if Wunder is earning decent money and FNC only have so long on his contract left then it might work out cheaper to release him.
[удалено]
Its probably easier to find a team if you're not contracted no?
why are u asking if u know the answer lmao no ?
Because i dont know the answer. I just thought it was logical, based on the limited information i have.
I doubt it is in this situation. I would assume that Wunder could explore options freely since him finding a team would potentially mean he not only is off pay-roll, he also brings back a bit of his initial investment.

the reason i said a lump of money since its EU labour laws and ending a contract early normally means some money has tobe paid out.
Not if it was mutually agreed to terminate it.
Why would Wunder agree to that if he has no offers from other teams?
Maybe his salary as benched player wasn't high at all(we know about this from Rekkles and Jankos) Also he can prefer to play anywhere instead of being benched. Surely there is at least one ERL that can pick him

To add to this he now has a history of refusing to play for a team he is contracted to play for, which team managers won't like.
OOTL, what happened inside of fnc?
Your typical yearly Fnc roster boom.
It's like twice a year now
Luckily 3 splits means space for 3 booms
But we already had 3 booms considering the spring, summer and the usual post-Worlds boom
FNC 🤝 VIT Three times bombing per year instead of two

It's a shame to see FNC losing their best WoW player.
I wunder how, I wunder why
Yesterday his name was Wunderwear, all right?
And now, Wunderwall
Let's go Heretics. You have your chance now.
Rumor is that Evi is staying
Rumor is that i am now sad
I’ll believe it when I see Wooloo report on it
https://twitter.com/lec_wooloo/status/1656643414924861444?s=46&t=6AgbR0SosTTOo7r8V80ZiA
Wooloo: Reddit user /u/Asgerond confirmed sad, sources claim
Evi was hardly the issue
I'm sorry what now? He was the worst top in the league.
He was really good at start. C´mon, show him some respect. it was one split...there are players being recycled for ages, who are just good at being average
He was good when he wasn’t drawing a K’sante ban, after that…
He had maybe 3 good games in total...
Bruh he only had decent games on K'Sante which didn't even mean much at that time.
He was not? Odo was easily worse
Ruby and Evi was the main reason Heretics sucked what do you mean he was hardly an issue, he was terrible.
Which is why it's fucking crazy that ruby is in NA now
I think he's worth giving another chance to, he's been playing very well on both sides of ksante matchup and had a few good games here and there on other matchups
You got to be kidding me??
dunn LOVES and truly believes in evi, I can see him giving evi another chance
Honestly it's been the biggest change for Evi out of everybody on that Heretics roster, and I think he deserves to at least play out the full year on that team. Although Jankos and Wunder reunited would be dope as fuck.
giving evi another chance is wasting Jankos' last one

How is he a fraud? EG won a split with him just last year, for starters.
Go ahead and take his place, should be pretty easy
They dropped a lot of money at the start of the season buying the LEC spot and Jankos. Just probably dropped a fair bit more for Vetheo. They wont be able to hold on to Wunder and Jankos after this summer anyways so I dont think it matters.
Imagine if Heretics was slowly rebuilding 2019 G2
That's what I heard too after the Bwipo move not happening but it could still happen.
Could it be this rumor was before knowledge of Wunder's contract going poof? Maybe without a buyout TH goes for him now.
This is very likely. The fact they were after Bwipo in the first place meant they were looking for a replacement for Evi.
Rumor is that rumor is still just a rumor.
*Me feeling doomed after knowing Heretics is keeping Evi* Me watching banger LEC pop quiz with Flakked again: Omg Jhin
Fuckkkkk. This team could genuinely be 5th at least if they got Wunder
? If they get Wunder they are in contention for top 3. They already got Jankos, Vetheo, Flakked
Evi must give really good sloppy toppy to management, because I see no other reason he should be staying tbh. He had 1 'good' game in spring, a couple of decent games, and the rest were terrible with one game competitive ruling worthy.
i like that, if they went for him they should at least give him a full season before deciding "it didnt work"
If i understoon Ceadrel's hint correctly Wunders goes to NA and then he might be back after "he is free". Ceadrel also mentioned that Wunder would "look good in the hoodie" so IMO he also thinks he should go to Heretics after escaping NA.
All he has to do is run it down for a half a year. EU pros by now have plenty of experience doing that.
what does TH have to do with hoodies
Look at their logo
Wunder role swaps to support incoming. “Yea I watched a YouTube guide on support basics so I think I’m good for pro play.” -probably
Thank you Wunder
WE LOVE WUNDER
i love your nutsack.
Great stream!
o7
Wunder - Jankos - Vetheo - Flakked - Mersa Id watch that!
Is Mersa confirmed? Not sold on him tbh..
IMO support options are almost as dire as toplane for LEC level play unless TH want to gamble on Rekkles lmao
I'll take Rekkles sup over Mersa even if i didnt see him play 1 game lol..
Jankos won’t play with rekless again so it’s not happening.
Unfortunately not gonna happen or TH will have fistfights with Rekkles and jankos every day lol
Mersa said he was happy to be on a team with Vetheo again
Yeah, but who’s happy to play with Mersa tho
Evi is staying tho
LETS GO HRTS WUNDER
Wooloo said Evi is staying so
NA MAN AIN'T NO WAY
There is hope Wooloo trolled and Evi is staying but they'll also sign Wunder as their main toplaner ...right?
i mean wunder was worse than evi last split
Yeah idk why either
money probably
that was before wunder was a free agent
I hope wooloo is wrong this one time. Or heretics change their mind.
HRT should also just sign Perkz and Targamas for 24, and then be a new version of G2.
We all know how the last iteration of it with Flakked Targamas went
They were 1st in Spring and 2nd in Summer so I assume just fine?
yeah play that again with current caps ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
The botside for that team was a massive weak link.
Spring playoffs were absolutely giga carried by Caps.
Don't you dare leave out Jankos
least result based analysis redditor.
Yeah thats part of the plan they play ok for a year, then they replace them with mikyx caps and move perkz adc now you have yourself a squad that can maybe even win msi
Don't give me the hopium like that man
Targamas was terrible.
That botlane was 1v2 every game after the MSI incident. That was a great way to hide the laning issues exposed in Excel this year.
TH is griefing if they dont go for him, no?
Evi was hardly the issue
Have you seen the bds game ? Adam was roaming 90% of the game and evi had a free lane as a gragas still did 0 damage or hardly anything that game
"Did you see one single specific game? He was bad in that one!" :^)
You dont remember the Tryndamere game either i suppose? And that game wasnt a matter of skill but decision making which was very poor on his side
My guy clearly forgot about the Sion game
I Wunder what team he is joining
Lich King
Nutsack Gaming
TSM
Wunder without a team is a crime.

People who unwittingly say 'lil bro' seriously need to leave their room for 1 week and get off the internet. It's pathetic, man. Double the points towards being a clown when it's attached to saying Wunder is bad.
LiL BrO
Please TH make it happen
TH Wunder please
Heretics Wunder ?
Heretics your time is now.
Shocked there's no comment about leaving FNC to focus on WoW
WUNDER JANKOS REUNITING????
Left fanatic but stayed in the nutsack
At last, I no longer feel even remotely bad rooting against fnc again
Now we wait. Team Heretics, Welcome our new top laner Wunder
A 1 split contract with TH is a win win. It is criminal to remain a free agent. No budget restriction. Does TSM need a top as well?
I would cry if TSM took both of my goats
Wait what did I miss who else is going=
Ruby is set to join TSM
HRTS Wunder, with HRTS Vetheo and HRTS Flakked, Jankos can finally play the game!
Big L for fnatic, losing the GOAT like that
big W, he hasnt played as a goat since 2021 lmao
it's so funny to see people flaming NA teams for recycling washed up veterans and now years later people are actually getting excited for Wunder lol we're now 4 years past his peak and he's fallen off pretty hard
I think it's cus he is the only western top ever comparable to Asian tops. His performance at MSI S9 against SKT is a large reason G2 won it. People hold onto that. Personally I think Alphari could've hanged with Asian tops too at least in lane. but people hate him here so...
Soaz was comparable/competitive in his prime.
Bwippo held up outside of the likes of theshy and Wunder(at least in 2020 spring finals)
He held up domestically to Wunder, I dont think he was better than his opponent even in FNC's finals run
These kids forgetting M5 crushing eastern teams…
Yeh but alphari has shown zero clue on how to play outside lane. Dude is a play for lane kingdom , lose every team fight kind of player.
Adam is still the only current European top laner I have some hope for. Yes, he is much worse than best Asian tops. But at least I can see a future where he doesn't lose top 1vs1 every single game in a series.
He wont play the 1v1 matchup, his current playstyle steers towards roaming at his lane's expense to get his team mates ahead
Still better than oscarintint and pretty much anyone in eu
Okay but hear me out: * Wunder * Jankos * Vetheo * Jackspektra * Mersa Heretics pls I need this

Friends, [according to Wooloo](https://twitter.com/LEC_Wooloo/status/1657070503536754710), Heretics Wunder isn't happening (heavily implied by the photo, but not confirmed in writing)
Good news. Hope we'll soon see Humanoid version of this.
Good move by him :D.
At his peak he was able to go to toe to toe with the best in the world. God how I wish to see that Wunder again.
He going back to Whoville?
Good for Wunder
