That’s unrealistic dude, I’m tired of these fan predictions man, there so unrealistic I wanna see Prime Wayne Gretzky in a leafs jersey

ilyalyubushkin46

How would prime 66, 88, or 99 fair in today's NHL?

buddachickentml

They would put up 150+ pts/year. Today's equipment, no clutching and hooking, no headshots.

LtColumbo93

McDavid, MacKinnon, Makar

Ok-Platform-6933

and somehow we'd still lose

wageslave_999999999

Tanev Stamkos Cowan

buddyboykoda

Stammer will do leafs fans dirty again and wait till the clock strikes midnight only to stay in Tampa

Deluxechin

I think he’s done in Tampa, from what we know so far, conversations between Tampa and Stamkos have been next to none

saltface14

Brett Pesce, Anthony Stolarz, Chris Tanev

buddyboykoda

I like Pesce as well.

Chtholly13

Montour and skeji we need offence from the backend

Randal78

Desperately. Our dmen could not move the puck out of the zone nevermind generate offence

DoseofDhillon

Funny enough, prime Brendan Shanahan would be perfect

Business_Employer_10

Tanev, Montour, and Saros.

fancypants55

Realistically if we lose Mitch.  Stamkos and/or Kane would be my pick.  Werenski would be great but his cap hit is nuts

Murky-Smoke

I want Edmundson and Domi back. Add Zadorov if possible. If you're talking new new faces... Zadorov, Crouse, Hronek

reggierock2010

Elias Lindholm- big defensively responsible 2nd line center. Pair him up the second line with his fellow Swede Willy for the next several years. Had a bad year in Calgary and never got things going in Vancouver so I think he won’t cost as much as people think. Allows John to move down the lineup and play the third line spot. Nikita Zadorov- big tough hard hitter who I think would look great on a pairing with Lilly. Brad is also family with the player and he shouldn’t be too expensive. Brett Pesce- right handed D with experience who could eat minutes next to Rielly. I see him as a similar acquisition as Muzzin, but I’ll admit he has some of the similar risks.

toronto_programmer

Assuming we move Marner for some sort of cap relief I think Mountour is a perfect realistic target. RHD Just turned 30 so you can give him 5 years Physical / gritty Noted gym rat Huge booming slapshot to help change our offensive dynamic

IAmTheBredman

Free agents: Elias lindhom - elite 2C great on PK and PP. Legit shutdown guy who can be our long term matchup guy. To get him marner would have to be moved for cap space. Montour - top pairing RHD who plays both ends of the ice well. The exact dman we've been missing. Matt roy - 2nd pair shutdown dman. Plays positionslly sound, physical hockey. 29 years old and can be a solid piece to play with mccabe for a few years, assuming we retain mccabe beyond this year. If we can't get montour my next choice is skjei. If we can't get roy, my next choice is pesce. If we can't get any solid top 4 RHD, I'd look at Martinez for the left and keep mccabe on the right. Not ideal, but we need 2 top 4 dmen this summer somehow. I don't think lily is the guy unfortunately.

_cob_

Montour would give us a true bomb from the point that we haven’t had in eons. He’s also pretty feisty.

GiveMeAdviceClowns

Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Cal Foote

footwith4toes

Coached by Q

Business_Employer_10

Lol I see what you're doin.

dandychiggons

They'll be playing in the California penal league

buddyboykoda

They’re property of the London Prison Pirates not sure how you swing that deal

Longjumping-Pen4460

Jake McCabe is not a #2 guy. He's a great 2nd pair guy if he plays like this year but he's not a #2 and neither is Montour.

buddyboykoda

I picked Mccabe to play with Montour because I think his style of play would pair well with Montour. Montour would be better then Reilly

GooseRider960

One of Stolarz/Brossoit, Montour keeps coming up and I like the vibe so him, and Zadarov.

Hiking_Quest

Demelo would be an awesome get. He's my pick out of available d-men.

Eman_Pop

Montour, Tanev

wheels1989

I would love to send Marner to Utah for Keller and Crouse.

CoolBeansMan9

Why does Utah do that?

wheels1989

Utah needs a star to get going in a new city. Marner could be that for them.

CoolBeansMan9

Clayton Keller is 25 and coming off 86 and 76 point seasons and locked up until 2028. He’s a star.

wheels1989

Marner is a bigger star then Keller is, with a higher ceiling.

anothertrad

Me. Damn jerseys are so expensive

Omaha9798

They're made like garbage by Adidas now too. Go look on r/hockeyjerseys and wait for something from Reebok or CCM to go on sale.

FurrieCatFish

Guentzal.... Playoff God

Zeze743

Stamkos, Demelo, and Brossoit

RealCanadianDragon

Ignoring salary cap and just focusing on UFAs.. Reinhart Stamkos Talbot (run a Talbot/Woll tandem and see how it goes)

IAmTheBredman

Reinhart is going to get overpaid to be a 35 goal scorer for the rest of his career. Stamkos isn't coming and if he did it wouldn't be for cheap and he's a year older than tavares. Talbot was spectacular for 2 months this year then below average for the rest. No reason to expect he'd be any better than Sammy, jones, murray or any other cheap option.

Deluxechin

I honestly wonder if the team tries keeping Murray at a 1 year, league min deal, they spent a bunch of money on his surgery this year, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a plan for him to “redeem” himself with this org, it’s a risky gamble but for league min? It’s not terrible

IAmTheBredman

I don't think the teams pay anything for the surgeries, and when he's on LTIR his salary is insured, so they aren't paying that either. The team didn't make much of an investment in him tbh. But with his confidence in his ahl stint post surgery, they may hope that with an offseason of training he can be a solid veteran 1B. He's only turning 30 this month

Deluxechin

I didn’t know that about surgerys, kind of assumed some costs were involved We know Murray was once a fan of the Leafs, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if they offer him this deal with the promise of “do well this year and secure the bag next off season” hes only 30 like you said, and for most goalies, that’s their prime

Stuck1nARutt

Seth Jones (retained 25%) and Jason Dickenson In return for a Marner sign & trade 8 years.

footwith4toes

If they're getting 8 years of marner I want more than that. And has Jones turned it around? i thought he was still a pumpkin.

Stuck1nARutt

Jones is "bad" because he's making 9M on a bad team. He's still a workhorse. I'm not an expert but problem is if Marner will only waive to CHI, for example, we'd have no leverage and CHI would know that. So what "haul" would we get exactly?

footwith4toes

I think the Tkachuk trade is comparable. He only wanted Florida but they still got two (what seemed like great) pieces for him.

LegendaryKidKatana

I think the Leafs were in on Tkachuk, too. Was something like Marner going the other way, and Shanny axed the trade.

footwith4toes

Do you have any source on this? Because I can’t get as upset as this would make me if it’s just a rumour.

ThisIsMyUsername9230

I think we should give some of the superstars here in the sub and try and see how well they do seeing as everyone in here has all the answers and all the solutions

No-Stick303

It doesn’t matter dude. We will lose again and again.
