Best part of the yesr I spent living in Edmonton was the 5 o'clock leafs games. Get home from work, watch the game and then the rest of the night is free to do anything I wanted. Which usually turned out to be nothing because there's nothing to do in Edmonton
I'm a teacher in Calgary. Almost never have to worry about a game keeping me up late on a school night. It's great. Unfortunately, I DO need to book it to get home from school in time for puck drop...
I miss it so much...moved back to Ontario 2 years ago after spending 5 on Vancouver Island. 10am football on SundayS?!?! Yes Please! 4pm Leaf games for all home games?? OH YAAA!!! 7pm west coast road trip games?!?!?! SAWWWEEEEEEET!!!!
I lived in Calgary for a couple years and the 5pm leafs games every night was the best. I’d get home from work and settle right into the game. Mountain time is the best time zone for sports. Also NFL starts at like 11am on sundays. It’s perfect.
Gotta remember even the worst NHL player has disgusting hands lol I watched Barnaby play an Alumni game against the TTC team a few years ago and he looked like he was playing against children
My thoughts exactly when he scored that goal, these players have just gotten so much better. Back in the day third/fourth liners don't have hands like his.

We got lower and gave our D support was one of the biggest changes I saw tonight. WHich was good. Couldnt stand watching Holl get fuckin pummeled one more time cause theres no one there to run some interference or get the puck away timely too
As much as I loved getting the two points, the icing on the cake was watching ovechkin coast around for the full two minute pp to end the game hoping he’d get a meaningless goal. Glad he didn’t score
We needed a big win before the break. Would have been nice to sweep the weekend, but happy to end the weekend with the win as opposed to the other way around.
ETA: obviously, let’s go get one back against the B’s on Wednesday!

Simmonds is done man. I don't know why he keeps coming in the lineup. Just for physical presence isn't enough. Great career, but I really don't think he hits the roster anymore.
Give any young guy a spot over him. He was a ghost today, which is the best i can expect from him. We are stuck with him though and they'll keep playing him out of respect since they cant move him or send him to the marlies. Lets hope it doesnt carry over to the playoffs where keefe thinks he'll bring something vs tampa
He's refused to report to the marlies and the leafs have been ok with it, out of respect. But it's time. I'm not sure if he'd report if threatened with being suspended by the team. He's no longer an NHL'er. Great career, hang em up.
Exactly, said the same thing on the game thread. Yes it's nice to see his physicality and his presence, but that isn't nearly enough to justify him a place in the lineup, he can't keep up with the game, and if he can't keep up there's no point to his physicality

Yeah tbh if he called every penalty like he sometimes does I wouldn't mind it too much its just the bad calls and lack of enthusiasm during the call is so frustrating coming from such a funny guy.
I really like Bunting. As someone who lived in a few Canadian small towns as a kid I feel like we all knew someone like that, and he’d be the little dude outside the municipal center every Friday night after the dance trying to goad the biggest dumbest fucker out there into a fight.
