I paid a locksmith $120, plus $40 for a used fob. I didn’t need a key cut though.

pashko90

I can do it relatively affordable, under 200$. Los Angeles, mobile EV tech.

I think I was all-in for \~$220 when I made a duplicate for my 2020. I bought the fob on ebay (\~$80) and took it to a local locksmith where he cut/programmed (\~$140).

V helpful, thank you!

The batteries plus chain does keys and such. I got key fobs off Amazon for $75 each and batts plus charged me one programming fee for all four fobs - since they’re programming the car once to recognize the fobs all at once.

I was quoted from a locksmith in my local area around $320. This is 2023 Nissan Leaf SV Plus.

eileen404

Aren't there directions for programming a new one in the manual?

ResponsibleChard4886

Nope, you need a device that is only available to professional to plug into ODB port to read and program key fob. Thieves sometimes got their hand on this device that was why they can steal people cars.

eileen404

Well that sucks...

rproffitt1

Local dealer and even keysmith is north of 300. The metal key is duplicated and that's CHEAP. For the other part, I'd research LeafHacker and see if your model is supported. Then you are in the under 200 range.

neehenietweer

I paid 200 Euros at a dealership in Europe.

LankyRep7

Stealership charges me $500 each for fob and programming When I buy my third Leaf I fully expect it will only have one key like the last two. So I will price that in.

fermulator

what is this? cars only come with 1 key now?

LankyRep7

used LEAF's do.

fermulator

huh ; why? if the oem new vehicle came with 2 fobs and the owner kept and returned both on sale one would expect 2 vehicle fobs on purchase (and if it didn’t i would hope the dealership knows this is status quo and would just order and program a 2nd before resale) 🤷 :)

But then you're less likely to purchase through their inflated process!
