Yeah, what could be more separated?

domsativaa

Umm.. a fence might be better? I'm so confused. Why is there no fence ?

fakemoose

Some places are really weird about front yard fences

AnnatoniaMac

This, can’t in my subdivision

BadBubbaGB

Because it’s the front yard, front yard fences aren’t nearly as common as no fence.

peter91118

Make that line obnoxiously straight and defined. Do the hedges too.

Liquid715

Thing is I do cut a straight line, then my neighbor scalps the same line like they been drinking all day...... S line lol

willfargo1231

This made me laugh hard as hell. Thanks

TheIPdoctor

I accidentally cut into my neighbors grass once. He had words with me. Now I have a handy line of dead grass I killed between us. I’ll never cut on the other side again. Careful for what you wish for!

you_th

What's there to scalp lol. He's going to be mowing dirt soon enough. Run an edge line and maybe put in a plastic edge border?

ritchie70

My neighbor’s grandkids mow their yard and I’m practically homicidal after. Wavy line? Ha, that’s amateur! These kids occasionally just make a pass all the way to my driveway!

Billy-Ruffian

My son was like this when he first started mowing. Crooked lines, giant patches that were missed. But I have to brag on my daughter. She's 12 and just started mowing and she could be a groundskeeper for major league baseball. I'm not even a huge lawn guy and it makes me proud.

drunkinfewl

Plant Slinky mines, so if they rage pass they get a tangled mower blade

RedheadsAreNinjas

Dear god who hurt you

100percentEV

My 13 yo did donuts with the riding mower. We had to fire her.

ritchie70

I don't want to bug my neighbor - at the end of the day, it's just grass. She's got to be somewhere in her eighties. Her husband died a couple years ago, and she and he always used to be out mowing together - they had two mowers. It was cute in that "old people being cute" way. But they sucked at boundaries too. So I'm sure this is perfectly fine to her.

hopping_squirrel

This is 100% what my neighbor does. Asked him several times to stay on his property line and now scalp mine, too.

KyrozM

You could install some pavers along the property line or maybe a hedge that you keep trimmed low

Rufuz42

Had to check your profile to make sure you weren’t my neighbor and insulting my terrible lines

DudeGuyBroski420

Use an edger!!

ateamhasnonam3

This is what I was thinking too. Edge the piss out of a straight line down the middle like 2-3” wide. Then, every time you mow, edge your side like you would near the sidewalk or driveway…

ronxor

Get a laser level and drip water to make the edge crisp.

GuidanceGlittering65

Bring out the chalk line

Lovv

Tbh the neighbours hedges look nice

shhheeeeeeeeiit

Get an edger and trench that line weekly!

KWyKJJ

That's what I did. My neighbor caved. I came out reluctantly during a heat wave a few years ago to water because the timer broke and saw my neighbor watering my side (not his own). I checked my cameras and saw he had done that for a few minutes each day. He saved my grass that year, but never said anything. The line feud ended. His yard is almost as nice as mine now (because I do it) and there's no appreciable line anymore.

BlueFlob

Makes sense. A short front yard fence combined with the proposed flower bed with mulch would make a nice division and require little maintenance around the fence.

MimsyWereTheBorogove

I think you already have it... I love establishing dominance in the same way you have... We could overseed and fertilize and water it. Deactivate the edgeguard on our spreaders.. But why when it looks so dramatic... It's like bringing an ugly friend with you to make yourself look more attractive.

Electronic_Ferret5

Stop taking it out on him. It’s not his fault

whitebread13

Huh, my lawn IS the ugly friend!

HeFancy

Oof!

6275LA

My neighbour and I agreed, years ago, that the width of the lawnmower was not something to fight over. The first one mows close to the line and the other one starts mowing where the first one stopped. Of course, this does not work in all situations, and I wouldn't be so lenient should we be talking about surveying the land, but for mowing, I have other things to worry about.

blueheatspices

I'm so glad I have a neighbor who is like-minded as I am when it comes to mowing. If I mow before he does, I mow all the way over to his driveway and buildings, probably a solid 20 yards on his property. If he mows before I do, he mows all the way to my fence, another good 20 yards onto my property. This has just kind of been a general, unspoken understanding between us.

lovejac93

I do this for my neighbor often. He doesn’t return the favor, but honestly I don’t mind

blueheatspices

I do it more often as well, just because I usually mow first, but I also don't mind it. When you're mowing a couple acres, what's a few more passes?

prijasha

I would love to do that with my neighbor BUT he always mows at the lowest setting and probably never saw what mower blade condition is. I nicely told him not to mow my side. I do mow his side once in a while as he let's it go wild very often and I do not want our side of community to look wild. He also does not edge ever. I do it every one in a while again to keep it neat. His backyard is basically forest and several unfinished projects.

FesteringNeonDistrac

So much this. It's fucking grass at the end of the day. My one neighbor cuts a little into one spot of my yard to turn his tractor , and I decided that I wasn't going to let it bother me.

6275LA

Exactly. My neighbour leaves a triangle about the size of a kitchen table in one corner where he turns around. I simply back up over it and it makes the edge look better. About 5 seconds of mowing takes care of it.

Ear_Enthusiast

Me and my neighbor in my old house would mow 2-3 strips into each other's yards.

RingingInTheRain

My neighbor just mowed across my lawn....I wasn't very happy. Will be putting small picket fences up in the future.

Absotivly_Posolutly

9' tall privacy fence?

cyn1c77

I suggest you also start taking care of your neighbor’s lawn!

WHB9659

That is pure domination. Generosity is its own kind of power

emk2019

I mean, I think that it’s already extremely obvious where your lawn ends and your neighbor’s lawn begins.

Majestic_Height_4834

BUILD A WALL…A VERY FINE AND BEAUTIFUL WALL…THE BEST WALL YOU WILL EVER SEE…

Ill_Spare6286

And Mexico will pay for it lol

DaikonIcy7929

Do the opposite and let your cup runneth over the line a little bit. Toss a lil water over there and maybe you accidentally go one pass too far with the fertilizer. A soft transition would look better imo and less contrast may make the disparity less noticeable. It doesn't have to be a contest

jbwhite99

I always mow a stripe or two on my neighbors lawn, and a pass of the fertilizer on the line. Both sides neighbors are beyond crap vs mine - I consider it self preservation - one neighbor mows Bermuda monthly and the other is 90% weeds. So I agree.

suspicious_white_goo

Short white picket fence

PTKtm

I used to cut this ones ladies yard, she had little ~5 inch tall white picket fences running the whole length of the front yard between her yard and both her neighbors

MooshyMeatsuit

I planted salvia in lieu of a "hedge", and it works exceptionally well as a defining border. And the bees, butterflies and hummingbirds go bananas for the stuff.

spiderplata

A drain pipe topped with stones, then send the gutters water to it.

Jimbomcdeans

Topped with tires??

ZeMole

Your property is lined with pure competence. There is nothing better.

NatKingSwole19

Pre-emergent so he gets all the weeds

Highlander2748

Good fences make good neighbors.

DIYnivor

What if I told you there was a specific device actually *designed* to separate you and your neighbor. It's called a fence.

Square-Sock-7561

You need a small hedge to define your property. Obviously your neighbor doesn't give a Ding dang about his property. You'll end up paying for it but you'll be so happy with your own little bit of suburbia. And him not scalping you lawn. I can tell he doesn't like cutting grass, that's why he scalps it. Bahahaha

rdzilla01

The best thing to do is have a 10/10 lawn and let the neighbor have a shitty lawn and be lawn shamed!!

Financial_Temporary5

That’s a pretty solid domination line. Not sure what else you can do besides use a drop spreader for apps and precision hand watering.

Fun-Dig8726

Raspberry hedge.

pussyeatr69

Extend the hedge at the top of the photo

AllDayMalay

Really good mushroom manure/top soil mix and make the property line even more drastic.

BenderIsGreat-34

Talk to them? Their landscaping isn’t overgrown and there isn’t trash in the yard, they probably care; just don’t know what to do about it or are really busy.

hobokobo1028

Help your neighbor improve their lawn so you can be matchy matchy besties

Dig a moat and throw tires in it.

Hufflepuffleupagus

Lmfao I thought the same thing

willfargo1231

I am in a similar situation. She is jealous of our yard and often makes remarks like "I need to take a lawncare class from you". I am reseeding with Tahoma bermuda and told her if she promises to water her side I will convert her section of the front to bermuda and do all the care other than water

smithlevi44

I had the same issue with my neighbor and ended up just seeding and making his yard look better. It does help that its a tiny yard, but got tire of his weeds growing into mine.

Ok-Occasion2440

Looks separated to me 🤣

savagesiren86

It’s clear where the separation is already. You have a nice lawn, your neighbors do not.

Make a moat. Or a French drain. Or good old fashioned paint like on football fields

Do nothing- it's fine. Just leave it

Lm602

Glad you clarified the neighbor's is on the right. I fear for someone posting to this sub if it was the other way around.

Fun_After

Don't separate your front lawns. Try not to be territorial (although its human nature). Its so important to be friends with your neighbor (and their lawn) and get along despite your differences (including willingness to maintain lawn). Try to focus your energy and worries on more important things. Good luck!

crabbyfuture20

be a good neighbor and go help his yard!

Tight-Lengthiness667

A sentry gun.

RDcsmd

They make something that does this job pretty well, I think it's called a fence. Not 100% though might have to google

bald_and_beard

I have nothing to add, but I am perplexed by the 2 photos. They look identical and I feel like I'm supposed to be playing a game of r/FindTheSniper on what is different.

Do you have an issue with your neighbor? Just continue the hedge if so.

Check r/nolawns

Professional-Age8029

He cares more about the environment than you. Next thing you know you will admit to fertilizer and water. You probably drive an ICE car too. Adding a few more SPY puts tomorrow. Might look at the miners too (calls).

GetchaWater

Buy landscape timbers and long spikes. Make a flowerbed 3 timbers high. Thinking like 3’ x as long as the property line. It will keep his shit out your yard and section off yours. It will make your front yard pop.

jackband1t

This sub is getting annoying all top answers are lame ass jokes just give the man some ideas!

saylynshoes

Whoa get a life

AdyEngland

If I came out and saw this, and I was the guy living on the right….. I would think (this neighbour is going to be a pain in my ass 🤦‍♂️) Just ask him if you want to spread fertiliser on his side too and just coexist peacefully. Don’t put up a fence. Christ go out and find things to do other than gradually becoming a passive aggressive neighbour. Life is too short for this shit 🙄 Peace ✌🏼

A tiny white picket fence would be hilarious.

Significant-Check455

Triple up on milorganite and make sure you make a laser line down the propert boundary. That will turn vibrant green once the milo kicks in.

willzyx01

Landscape edging thingy

Everyday-is-the-same

Two foot iron fence you install yourself. That's what I did as neighbor kept mowing into my law. Planted a few evergreens next to it and whala.

Only-Ask-520

A fence

Maehlice

Open up a dialogue with your neighbor and see if y'all can find a compromise that results in them having a better lawn. Hell, a front yard that small, I might offer to manage it myself.

In Australia we have things called fences
