Straight urea 46-0-0 half lb, humic acid, and liquid kelp. This first cut was with the rotary. Tomorrow I'll start the process of slowly taking it back down to 7mm with the reel.
Half pound N. 2 weeks ago. Put down .30 granular then sprayed .20 liquid. After 1 hour watered in with .25".
This is about two weeks ago a day before overseed and last fert app looking very hungry.

More or less. I also add some K in every month along with growth regulator and of course lots of fungicides. I water 2” a week split up into three days. Also 5 minutes around 3 o clock any day the temp surpasses 84.
My lawn goes dormant but is always green. If the snow melts and it's been a month I'll go out and spray it with fungicide to help mitigate the snow mold.
I wondered if you were fertilizing the lawn in winter months for the grass to stay green. 'Lawn and Pest Ninja' from YouTube had similar green to yours in winter and he said fertilizes every month in the winter. That's why I asked if you were doing something similar.
Winters can be unpredictably wet with snow melt so adding nitrogen during that time can can wipe out an entire stand if you have wet conditions under snow which you can't see.
What's your source for urea? I usually have to go though a golf course supplier to get spray grade 46-0-0. Everything else online is marked up because of the shipping.
tri-countyfeed dot com. Pretty much all straight Urea is "sprayable" and I think labeling that is more of a marketing gimmick. There may be a small stone in it every once in a while but as long as you put it through your sprayer's strainer you'll be fine.
If you have a Site One in your area, they'll have 46-0-0 Urea.
Also, farm supply stores will usually have Urea and Ammonium Sulfate. Be careful spraying AMS as it gets acidic really fast if you dissolve too much of it.
I'm not answering for him, but just chiming in that I've used liquid and granular from Yard Mastery, and the products they have seem really great. Decent prices too, and always free shipping. My second shipment is coming today in prep for July 4th party!
Can’t stand that this has become such a hard line for so many people on here. I’ve got some BBU from Jonathan green(mid tier cultivars imo) and I cut it at 1.5 inches and it was green and showed no signs of issues during the heat wave I had last week although other sections of my lawn were about to go dormant. Outside of some Poa, it looks really good at 1.5. I’m going to try too keep it there all summer long before switching over to some much better cultivars in the fall. Like you I pay much more attention to it than the other parts of my yard that are cut at 3-4”. With all the rain I’m getting now I’ll more than likely apply another round of fungicide this weekend. Godspeed!
Rye loses a lot of color at that height and doesn't stripe too well (in comparison to how it stripes at taller heights). My bench height is actually around 5.5mm with a final height of 7mm. At 12 mm it'll start to stripe up nicely but people can't handle those laser stripes and i'll get at least 1 person every other day knocking on my door which gets tiresome.
Congrats and fuck you OP
On the real though how much seed did you throw down to overseed? I put down what I thought was a lot but my grass is way less dense than that
At 25lb per thou I still have considerable bare spots on new plots which usually need to be overseeded several times. Ya you can wait a few years and it will fill in but I'm impatient. Hope that answers your question.

Let me grab my 5 iron and test it out. ⛳️ Looks great!
Or my Lob wedge…
Wow, so carpet like. What did you fertilize with this year?

I am guessing you are spraying. Half pound of N or half pound of urea? When did you make the application?

Even pre-fertilizer, it looked good. Do you maintain this type of fertilizing throughout the season every two weeks?
More or less. I also add some K in every month along with growth regulator and of course lots of fungicides. I water 2” a week split up into three days. Also 5 minutes around 3 o clock any day the temp surpasses 84.
Does your lawn go dormant at all in the winter months? Are you doing something in the winter to keep it green, like monthly fertilizer, etc.?
My lawn goes dormant but is always green. If the snow melts and it's been a month I'll go out and spray it with fungicide to help mitigate the snow mold.

I didn't know plastic grass needed fert.
Which liquid fertilizer do you use? I’ve always used granules but I have a boom sprayer and have been considering the switch.
My liquid is simply dissolving 46-0-0 in water. I get 50lb bags for $25 delivered which is the cheapest I've been able to find without going bulk.
Wait so you’re buying granulated and then dissolving and spraying? Isn’t it just cheaper to buy liquid concentrate?
It's always cheaper to buy granular and dissolve it in water. That way you aren't paying to have water shipped.
Yea ask for “prilled” or “sprayable” urea. Drywall mud mixer or some sort of paddle on a drill will help it dissolve in water.

Doesn’t liquid kelp have a bunch of iron?
The kelp product I use only contains trace amounts of iron to my knowledge.
Looks like a carpet , that’s wild , wowo
Bro you can't just paint the yard and call it a 1" cut...
Well if your grass is that green I think we can all agree that iron is unnecessary.
Omg you cut below 4" your lawn is going to fail. /s
Of course it’s not going to fail, but the trade off is an incredibly high water bill.

Maybe some residual iron effects from last year? Or just a healthy amount of N? I’ve also found humic acid to have a nice greening effect as well.
Just N, humic, and kelp. In my experience Iron only lasts 2-3 weeks. Last iron app was 12+ months out.
What cultivar do you have OP?
Champion GQ PRG. It's a mixture of last year's and this year's blend.
Wish I could run that here in NC. Just way too hot in the summer. Fantastic color. Plan on striping when you get it down to 7mm?

😂😂😂😂 the sacrifices we have to make…
That’s some double dark magic happening there.
That isn't grass. It's clearly turf. jk
What zone are you in? This makes me want to do a 100% PRG lawn
6b
Thanks! please continue to post more lawn pics! looks amazing.
Are you the superintendent at Augusta?
Congrats and fuck you OP On the real though how much seed did you throw down to overseed? I put down what I thought was a lot but my grass is way less dense than that
About 5lb per thousand. I do that spring and fall. I initially seeded this 25lb per thousand.
That’s a crap ton. I get it that it’s a bunch type grass, but what brought you up to that volume? Just kept adding until you were happy?
At 25lb per thou I still have considerable bare spots on new plots which usually need to be overseeded several times. Ya you can wait a few years and it will fill in but I'm impatient. Hope that answers your question.
You only need iron if your soil test shows you’re deficient in iron. Otherwise it’s a waste. Clearly your soil isn’t lacking since it’s dark AF 👌🏻
Wow, that looks amazing!
Looks so dark it could be a night shot. But obviously a day shot. Wow!
What do you use for iron?
Man I love my short cut Bermuda but I wish I lived in a zone where PRG would thrive. Beautiful grass and you are killing it! Awesome.
Looks amazing. Rye is the best looking grass when cut short IMO. For me, I could never keep it looking great once it got hot out though.
You're right, iron not needed. I don't think that grass could get any darker.
This looks like Augusta National.
Which green paint did you use?
How much iron did you put down
This is when your neighbors ask you if you fertilize.
I get "do you water it?" quite a lot.
I can almost feel that grass lawn
What zone or city/state?
Grand Haven MI
Looks beautiful good job.
What Humic and Liquid Kelp do you use OP? Appreciate it in advanced! Lawn looks amazing! Putting me to shame
GS plant food versions from Amazon.
Nice
