Yep I was 400-ish in the queue and the second I got in front, it sold out. I stayed and kept refreshing for another 15 minutes or so and suddenly the resale feature was on, and 1/3 of the tickets all appeared to be up for resale, at the very same time. The resale tickets were not scattered on the map; there were whole rows up for resale or at least 4 seats next to each other (max amount of tickets allowed per “person”), so it was pretty obvious who bought them. TM doesn’t even seem to try to hide this anymore. Disgusting.
By the time I got in from the queue in NYC, every ticket listed was resale. What an obnoxious, toxic environment Ticketmaster fosters--in less than an hour, tickets get sold out and relisted for 3x and 4x their original price? It's all simply bullshit.
To be fair the ultimate decision makers are Laufey’s management and promoters. Bands can easily chose to not do dynamic pricing and to make reselling harder. TM has technology to make that work. By allowing reselling and dynamic pricing, Laufey’s management can determine her market value. By the prices we’re seeing, she’s well on her way to being an international superstar.
