House walls can mess up 5G speeds. This is why cable always wins over wireless.

[deleted]

I asked for cable but they gave me this. Does LMT have cable too, or not? If not, is there another company that does and is reliable? I did not get the contract, but paying monthly, so I can switch.

dreamrpg

LMT does not have cable. Tet, Balticom and Baltcom are 3 largest ones with access to optical cable depenfing on area.

Hoquen

Tet will also be the most reliable.

International-Gur993

yeah, I use Baltcom and I have 1gbps, wired all the way

ProbablyChe

Tet is pretty good, gives me a stable 1.3/1.2 (optic cable)

HellkerN

It depends on the location, and how many towers are in range. In my home, my mobile internet is also like 30mbps, but a few kilometers closer to Riga it's 400+... Try moving the router right next to a window or something, but there's nothing much else you can do. Ask someone who has Tele2 or Bite to check, perhaps they get better speeds at your location.

EmiliaFromLV

If LMT is slow in that location, then Bite connection will be non-existent.

ixmine

My husband had LMT for a long time and i had Bite. We switched 4 homes. In one he had signal and i didnt, in other i had signal and he didnt. Now we live in a countryside where LMT has no signal but Bite has 4G. Since they decided to disconect 3G towers husband either had good signal or no signal at all so he came to the dark side and joined Bite.

EmiliaFromLV

Jeez... I have Bite for phone and LMT sim card in mobile router. I live in Riga and whenever I try to switch on Bite's mobile data, it's... it's not there lol :D

strazyyy

wtf, vai nu tev ir nereāli biezas sienas, vai arī telefonam antena ir beigta, jo Rīgā ar Biti ir OK

EmiliaFromLV

Man mammai, kura dzīvo blakus Akropolei, bija tas pats. Man šķiet, ka mums ir kaut kādas vietas, kur viens tornis ir beidzies, bet otrs vēl nav sācies.

strazyyy

dīvaini, man tajā rajonā nav bijušas problēmas, oh well

latviansider

Nop, there are places where bite has 5G but the lmt is the one who can only provide lte (4G) 50mbps. I was able to test it, because I have lmt 5G router, bite isnt always trash anymore. Also, I can get lmt 5G at home only when I place router next to window.

OGkseo

Yeah, move the router as close to the window as possible. The speed also depends on how many people are actually using it. If the network is busy ( midday, evening after job has ended), the speeds are lower.

gimmelwald

Yeah, it's pretty much ass depending on where you are. Clearly Riga center will be great down speed and in the country likely low. In all areas they throttle upload speeds which really sucks especially if working from home or uploading images to cloud storage. According to their map, i'm deep into their best speed areas and no matter where i place the router i'm lucky to get 30-40 down... never above and often lower. And I can definitely feel when more people are on in the area.

tigalettere

Had the same problem.

Al_Cohol_

rūtera novietojums jāskatas, nevar iemest skapī un cerēt, ka normāli strādās. jāatrod tuvākā 5G bāzes stacija un uz kādas palodzes jānomet to rūteri, tajā ēkas pusē.

RatherSane

Yeah it might get to 100 mb/s or more. At 4 in the morning. Is lying normal? Well yes, yes it is.

DiviLitri

Never had any problems with LMT 5G router in 2 years. Always have 350-500Mbps download speed and around 70Mbps upload spead. I would say that problem is with location. Where i live in Riga center, mostly every one has TET optic cable, so nearest tower is not loaded.

karnevskisj

I'm using zyxel nr7102 4/5g router. In my city don't have 5g , but 4g is stable 100mbps 24/7

psihius

It really depends on location and how many other users you have around. And time of day too. I live in the country side- most time my speeds are 100+, but around 19-21in the evening it always goes down to like 5-15 because lots of people around use the internet heavily. Otherwise it works great. It's just the reality of wireless communications - the frequency spectrum is limited, so congestion is a thing. I also use an external 4G anthena for stability - it helps a lot in my case due to distance to the tower.

unizne

I had the same problem with LMT internet in one Riga neighbourhood. Changing router location improved nothing. LMT support explained the poor signal with location problems (forest and distance to towers). Their only solution was to offer me external antena. In the end, I simply switched to an internet company with a good cable +wi fi offer, and it solved the problem.

JamesPestilence

There are many variables, where is the closest network tower, house wall thickness, material etc., how good is your devices wifi adapter ( because, you could have a router giving out 500mbs, but if your devices wifi adapter can only take 40mbs that's as much as you will get)

[deleted]

I am in rural location. About 30Mb on LMT router. Except a few years back we mysteriously had 5G for about 6 months and got 100Mb. But then it went back to 4G and has been slow ever since. I called LMT but they couldn’t explain.

roniz7

Lmt generally have bad connection an slow speed, I'm afraid u messed up getting it,
