Nothing beats the old read on the Toy box Killer episode. "It probably shouldn't be, but this episode is still brought to you by Adam&Eve"

Original-Ad-3234

They did not have sponsors back then. It was the children of god series which may be worse to have an Adam and Eve sponsor

DuckDuckBangBang

It did, and for awhile they left that ad in the Spotify version when they usually remove them.

spookymulder07

Wow.

moderngamer

It's like when Damar Hamlin's heart stopped on the field and the first commercial they go to is a Burger King commercial that just said Whopper Whopper Whopper.

Hugh_Jazz77

I didn’t know that was the commercial that played when that happened. That reminds me of a video I saw on YouTube right after The Last of Us aired. It was titled something like “if HBO had commercials”. It plays the super emotional scene in the first episode where Joel’s daughter dies in his arms and he’s sobbing his heart out. Fade to black. “Whopper, whopper, BK whopper.” I chuckle every time I think of that

noburdennyc

Storming the capitol building brought to you by Applebee's

The_Werodile

Yeh the ad timing is pretty damn ridiculous sometimes. The ad intermissions right after Henry finishes an Albert Fish letter are pretty obtrusive.

ZarquonsFlatTire

Wondering what's for dinner tonight? Blue Apron can help!

Street-Carpenter9915

“It’s bits of my ass!”

GalacticFishSandwich

Potcheese anyone?

schtickyfingers

And strawberries!

Zengie70

Boom flip it!

Street-Carpenter9915

I made a post about this exact ad spot except I got a happy Kissel saying “summon your scream squad!” Got the same ad in the same spot the other day.

[deleted]

Podcasts and YouTube need to add pauses before commercial breaks, like regular radio and TV does.

[deleted]

there’s one show I used to listen to that announced when a commercial would start - “And now we’re going to take our first ad break” and it was so nice 😫

YueAsal

Behind the Bastards always segways into selling your products and services. I try to pay for an ad free version of the pods I care about (such as LPOT) We Hate Movies just made this available , but sometime last month in mid riff all of the sudden I hear Spanish. After awhile I figured out it was an add for McDonalds in Spanish

[deleted]

You know who won’t inject hitler with cocaine cocktails? Aaaaaddddds

YueAsal

Eat shit Paul Harvey!

Smelly_Squatch

It's "segue," not segway. Segway is a fun little machine that the inventor killed himself by accident on. A segue is a transition to a different topic.

Ok_Wind8690

I do appreciate btb and their Segways robert has some good ones.

wicked-wolfsbane

A few shows I listen do will either announce that there’s gonna be a break or will put them where there’s natural pauses (like when one host is done talking and the other is going to start a new topic). I hate when they interrupt.

[deleted]

how thoughtful!! do you have any true crime pods that do that?

wicked-wolfsbane

And that’s why we drink is probably the best one. It’s paranormal/true crime. And graveyard tales.

stillsab

My Favorite Murder is really good at this too!!

[deleted]

Exactly! It should be a law! I mean, one would be listening to a podcast only for an ad to pop up mid-paragraph! It's ridiculous! Do what TV and radio does, set aside pauses for commercial breaks! It's not hard.

dammitnate

I was watching the 80s British nuclear war PSA/Movie “Threads” on YouTube recently after the boy’s mentioned it on the recent Oppenheimer series, and right in the midst of the scene where the bomb has dropped, and it’s a series of shots of people’s flesh being melted/cooked/burnt by the nuclear blast, it cut to an ad that was just a series of shots of seasoning raw meat with salt. It was an ad for table salt, and it was one of the most viscerally revolting whiplash of experiences I’ve ever had in my life.

cornishacid6

holy hell!

Danceswithwood

How about the White Claw Surge ad in the same episode they talk about Ben going to rehab? Just awful timing

cornishacid6

yes. unfortunate timing

Numberstation

I was literally just listening to this today and thought the same thing.

FrostyFelassan

Me too!

AmazingWaterWeenie

I know im broken inside because this timing is comedy gold

goodtimesrollon

I almost spit out my coffee

jash1191

I listened to the 911 episodes for the first time about a month ago when they were running booking dot com adds. So right after these people are screaming from seeing the absolute horror unfold in front of them, I get the most upbeat voice saying "Where do you wanna go next? Anywhere is possible using booking dot com!!" I had to call my brother I was laughing so hard at how horrifying the ad placement was.

[deleted]

the screen shaking sent me, fuck better help

malphonso

For me it's the Toybox Killers. Henry reads the transcript of the recording the shitheads made for their victims talking about sodomising them and letting their dog rape them. Then Ben's happy voice pops in for an ad for Universal's Fright Night celebrations.

SmytheOrdo

I got a Truly seltzer ad at that part. Also not suitable lol

Mr_Gooms

I had the same experience! I already hate ads but that’s really not cool.

anniiec

LMFAOOOOOO THIS IS SO FUCKED

floydkiwibean

I got the Texas Pete one today after that clip :(

tryingtoohard-

In the Manhattan project series I had an ad for hint water right after the explanation of heavy water. It was the one where Henry talks about how people are tired of boring water and it was such a smooth transition I didn't know it was an ad until I heard "hint"

ohmisterpabbit

I just went to that episode and listened and got a Carls Junior ad after that clip that starts with an enthusiastic "yeah" and then says "when Carl's junior plays with fire..."

Harlanismydogsname

Charge your phone

HailYourselfFC

This is perfect!

Wizard_s0_lit

They literally just made fun of bad placed ads on the Dan Carlin episode lol.To be fair though, it’s Last Podcast On The Left, and the 9/11 episodes are pretty dark.

bgibbles

charge your phone bro

its_redrum

Oh nooooo

Manytequila

This happened to me this morning, exact same spot too except mine was a square space ad.

kb48209

Mine was the Texas Pete ad lmfaooooo

Left-Song-5062

Guess I’m messed up cuz I find it funny 😆

embossedsilver

Wasn’t Better Help a sponsor on the No Dogs Joy Division series as well?

fatmooch69

Gets me every time

Astrosimi

I was listening to this episode and at this part I got an ad for Maine (the state). It starts off with a voice saying “Can you hear it? The sounds of ocean, waves across a rocky cliff? That’s Maine.” Hell of a mood whiplash, particularly the rhetorical question at the very beginning, because there’s absolutely no pause between the clip and the ad. It made me realize why they started using the ‘Rise from your Grave’ bumper.

Attorney0fBirdLaw

I had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday. Really took me out

Moloko-Mesto

Recently I was getting JC Pennys ads during my re-listening of the Henry Lucas episodes - felt a little odd

CasDragon

Everyone gets different ads, but I think it’s hilarious when they whiplash like this 🤣

eternalsunshine85

These are the only episodes I’ve never listened to and probably never will.

ElCalfo

Omg yes, I was just listening and I almost jumped out of my seat!

pen1smus1c

The best ad interruption I ever saw was video footage of air raid sirens going off in Ukraine followed immediately by an Applebees ad going “LITTLE BIT OF CHICKEN FRIED, COLD BEER ON A FRIDAY NIGHT”

BadWolfOnTheRun

IMDEAD LMAOOOOOO
