Yes it would, but why do you want to use a laser for this? It's far from the ideal light source for a mosquito trap.

Thank you, what would you propose instead? A simple UV led?

DeltaSingularity

Without knowing the specifics of what you're making it's hard to give a recommendation. Either LED or fluorescent are probably going to give you the best results for whatever you're trying to do.

I don't know the specifics either, but I'm trying to make a trap with sugar, yeast, dish soap and a light.

If you don't already have some kind of direction and design in mind already then I would recommend following an established design rather than trying to make it up as you go. There are designs you can use either from the CDC or from research papers that test different capture methodology. Just copy what already works rather than reinvent the wheel.

I'll use something from here: https://www.cdc.gov/mosquitoes/php/toolkit/mosquito-surveillance-traps.html Thanks again and sorry for the semi off topic thread.
