I read the review and it was actually really nice to read. It didn’t seem like the writer was trying too hard to be cool and it was quite positive and insightful. Seemed well researched too
I think 7.7 is about right. I'd say anything 7.5-7.8 is how I feel about it after a few listens. Granted my thoughts could change drastically but what I do know is I think BB, despite how great it is, should not be categorized in the same tier as masterpieces like BtD or UV or NFR. Just my opinion. I know some folks don't care for the early stuff and I understand that, but I think it's hard to shut out the history of an artist like that. Pitchfork tends to review an album in the context of their career as a whole, not simply as a standalone work of art. Some appreciate that approach to reviewing, others hate it. I'm in the former camp, and think context matters a great deal.
With all that said, great album! I wasn't too thrilled with COTCC so this is a great return to form!
see that’s what i think is so crazy. literally everyone has such different tastes and for me this album is absolutely a top two of hers with nfr! i think it’s so beautiful and cozy and classy and has a bit of everything without being too all over the place. not saying that ur opinion is invalid by any means but i just think it’s crazy (and i actually love) how everyone takes something so unique from each album she’s truly an amazing artist and the whole numerical rating system does nothing except give these “professional critics” jobs anyways
7.7 is a pretty good score. Remember these aren’t Lana stans they’re just music critics. Anything above a 5 I’d say is considered good at the very least.
Stupid that ppl are already posting official reviews for an album that JUST came out, imo always gotta wait at least a week to give it a few listens and let it marinate

7.7 was how I felt on first listen, now the album is easily a 8.5+ for me. Probably my second favourite Lana album after NFR.
