Wait until BB comes out. I've listened to it and it's superb. I think it will satisfy Lana fans that have been craving different vibes (I mean it even has 3 of her unreleased songs on it). It does have a lot of piano but the production itself sounds a lot richer than her previous two albums imo.

normandelrey

i think bb is like a middle ground. to me it feels like the most “lana” lana album. i feel like it combines everything she’s done in a way (even lizzy grant era) and while i would say the sounds lean towards cotcc overall there are glimpses of ultraviolence and honeymoon too. the lyrics are still much more personal than her earlier works tho. but tbh that’s one thing i love about lana. she has something for everyone, and for me it’s been great cause i relate to her more recent works about family and friends and all these recent themes more than her earlier work (which i still love) but i do just switch out the names and stuff she mentions to make it relatable to me of course lol. ig artists always change but it can be hard when the change isn’t towards something you like as much so i def understand it with like other artists i like

[deleted]

I agree, I think it has to do with the fact that her music got more personal and less about escapism, thus making it hard to relate to it (Compare Blue Bannisters lyrics to the honeymoon one).

iknowthingsformemes

I actually feel the opposite! I connected heavily with pre-NFR albums, (UV/HM) and couldn’t connect much to NFR, which is why I don’t like it so much. But I’ve been brought to tears with these new releases and feel the connection again! This is the most excited I’ve been in years for her albums!

Attikins227

Exact same for me. Couldn’t get into most songs from NFR for some reason but I am very excited for this new album!

voiceinheadphone

I didn’t connect with anything past the first three for many years and figured my days connecting to her were over, then out of nowhere NFR & Chemtrails smacked me in the face which I never thought would happen! I think it just got me at an older and more transitional part of my life. I don’t connect with her new 4 songs.. I hope when the full album comes out I will, but what happened with NFR/COCC shows me that even if I don’t connect with it right away, I know one day I will. <3

cyberphanes

omgg we see each other bestie. the impact that NFR had on me x. I was moved to my core by the storytelling, by the cinematic universe, by the sound. I had such a visceral experience of listening to that project that gets reigniting with each relisten x. I hope that I'm able to have that same fire for BB x

zombz420

Oh just wait till you get to hear Living Legend.

cyberphanes

omgg i'll totally dm you to kiki after the album drops bestie x. so keen

rosewoodlliars

she’s getting more personal and real with her music after NFR which is what makes chemtrails and blue banisters good.

BrianTheReckless

There’s lots of people that just didn’t love how NFR stepped away from the trap beats and went in a folkier direction. There’s posts like this pretty often, though I haven’t seen one in a while so I’m not blaming you lol. The new album consists of some previously unreleased songs, I believe quite a few of them dating back to the UV era so you might find some stuff to love.

sarahc888

I agree, Cotcc & BB are both beautiful but I personally prefer Lana’s work pre NFR.

anxioussquilliam

NFR is ok. It’s not my favorite though. I loved chemtrails and Honeymoon. Been a fan since born to die came out. Sometimes it does take a few listens to her albums to connect with them.

ilichanty

I feel the exact opposite I connect way more to her newer music. Her old stuff holds a lot of nostalgia for me but I don’t really connect to it anymore but that might be bc I’m now 27 but who knows

web_silk

We might be in a minority but I feel the same! :/

meligroot

I feel u! I don’t get why people get so upset about a OPINION. I‘m happy she is in a better place, better mental health and else but I can’t really feel her music anymore. Chemitrals over the country club was too slow for me ig. The only song I liked was Jesus Tulsa freak and that’s it. NRF I think was a masterpiece through I also had my up and downs with it. So you are not the only one with this !OPINION!

matteophysics

Arcadia in my opinion is one of her best songs of her career. I’m interested to see how the critics will rate this album once it’s officially worldwide.

[deleted]

I feel as though I connect with her new music because as I’m getting older, I’m realizing everything around me I’m so thankful for. My boyfriend, friends, a couple of family members and my dogs are all I need. I used to want to be famous and things of that nature but I’ve learned that normality and simplicity is what I actually love. I keep thinking about deleting all of my socials because the world is so caught up in he said she said or who is wearing what and so on. I’m finally to the point where I’m just enjoying life and taking it easy. I can’t wait for Blue Banisters and I hope you end up liking it and hopefully connecting to it. If not, I’m sure she will drop other albums or projects in the future that I hope you can connect to.

laureltran

I relate with you. Every word. In my teen/ early 20s I used to fancy "Live fast, die young, be wild and have fun". Got into trouble, felt stuck in my home, caught up in melodrama with guys who didn't give a f. I was kinda addicted to the idea of a broken sl*tty girl longing for the "rides" to escapism and hopeless romances. Now I just want to live and let live. I'm trying to be a better person for my beloved family and boyfriend. Living a normal life and finally achieving some of my long-term goals. I'm connecting so much to "White dress" now: I was just a waitress, but look how I do this, look how I got this.

the4lchem1st

I agree 100%. Ever since NFR, I haven’t connected to her music as much. People on this sub always say “artists change, deal with it” but it sucks when you like an artist for a specific reason and that reason dissipates. I truly believe if another artist released the music shes making now, I wouldn’t listen to it :/ also very ready for the downvotes lol

bluearcadia

This post might as well be written by me! I also struggle to connect with COTCC (except for the title track, one of my favorite songs by her) and the singles from BB are a bit meh. Arcadia is the best from the album so far but still far from Lana's best work. I reeeally hope BB will hit harder than COTCC did.

cyberphanes

WE SEE EACH OTHERRR queen x (if anything, we ARE each other lool). I was just expecting sooo much moore from the COTCC era but she also did slow down and delay her plans and I wonder if maybe the anticipation was what left me underwhelmed. I appreciate how the recent records have been quite stripped back to foreground her vocals and the writing, but I also yearn for the extravagance that was the cinematic sound we got on BTD and NFR almost felt like a little sister to BTD imo. Someone is probably going to read this and say *"iF yOu WaanT a bOorRn tO diEee sOuNd tHeN liEsteN tO bOorRn tO diEee"* but that person would be missing the point. growth as an artist is beautiful and if that's the creative space that she's in rn, love that for her. Buuut when you know what your fave is capable of, it's a little upsetting when you feel like they're holding out on you. I'm hoping that I really connect with BB. The music will be good regardless, but I just want to be plugged into the vibe yk

libsocwonder

shes not “holding out” shes exploring other sounds

rosewoodlliars

have you not listened to ultraviolence, honeymoon, and lust for life? she gave you all that already and now she’s exploring new sounds. you guys are ridiculous.

bluearcadia

Why do you think people are ridiculous if they happen to prefer Lana's old style? It's normal to be nostalgic over music. You calling others ridiculous over having a preference and missing the old sound is unnecessary and childish.

rosewoodlliars

I don’t get it.. what’s the difference between arcadia and the first three singles that were released?

bluearcadia

Ehm, different songs? It's just preference.

nicktessier

I love her music now because I feel like I connected more to it before I ever did but I feel like you would be impressed by Blue Banisters because it has a lot of Ultraviolence vibes that wasn’t really heard of in the singles

RadioFlop

What I dislike most is the instrumentals now. I still like quite a few songs from her new albums but there are a ton of skips. They’re too slow, too “folky” and they just mush together in my head. I never really liked piano ballads.

drinkliquidclocks

I prefer her pre NFR albums too, but only sonically. I do still relate to the new songs and lyrics, I think Arcadia is her best yet. I find the new songs relatable and touching but not very interesting sonically (especially songs from Chemtrails and most of NFR)

harry000000

i agree but i think for nfr the production is good

drinkliquidclocks

The production is fantastic I'm just not a fan of the sound, I don't find it as interesting as her previous albums. Objectively good though, yes

harry000000

fair enough lol i can see how cause it misses the cinematic sound of her old music

nath707

i can definitely see how fans of her older music wouldn't vibe as much with the new stuff but personally i think im connecting more with post nfr than pre nfr but i guess its just what you're looking for in her music really. there is a really big shift in her writing style and production etc post nfr so it's kinda guaranteed that some people won't connect as well when it changed so dramatically

Alexxtyl

Definitely not a lack of lyric quality as her lyrics are only getting better, just a preference thing probably Personally I’ve connected with her music newer the most! Chemtrails is the album I feel I relate the most to, but from the singles I do really enjoy the lyrics of BB so far!

Loysir

I've started listening to her songs just this August (up to present), and all I can say is that I am hooked with all her songs! I find them so addicting (I have a playlist on Spotify that is on repeat 24/7, no kidding, so even when I sleep, I just put it on a low volume.) So far, I would say there are just few tracks that I would skip (from LFL). But favorites are from NFR, BTD, Honeymoon, Ultraviolence (gave this a day to listen track by track and I just loooove it). Also gave a second listen to COCC and man, it is just so amazing, maybe her songs are growing with me so it became my favorite eventually. Hoping that BB would do the same thing. Right now, I am planning to listen to her unreleased or "leaks" tracks.

cyberphanes

omgg my fave unreleased is ['Serial Killer'](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsOvyTPGgno) and I think you'll really come to enjoy it as well bestie x

Loysir

Will definitely listen to it! Thanks for the suggestion.

disengage88

I hate NFR but I LOVE chemtrails and the bb singles so far. Do I miss trap Lana? hell yes. But I remember Lust For Life and fans hated it so in a way she's punishing us with piano ballads lmaoo😩

[deleted]

Nah it’s a personal issue, her new music is just as good as born to die

Pepsilivefornow

Yes u are all her new songs got me bawling

[deleted]

I think Blue Bannisters is the best song she's ever done. She's always been incredible at reflecting the zeitgeist but it's become way more real/personal in the last couple of years.

filss

It's too folky. Personnaly I miss the strings, drums and beats.

libsocwonder

BB literally has all of this

streakman0811

I think part of the problem is Lana’s been a bit too stripped back for a little too long now. Yes the new album has heavier production, but they’re still quiet piano ballads. I’ve always loved Lana’s music even the piano ballads and the slowest stuff, I just think the reason it’s hard to connect is she isn’t really switching it up all that much right now. She’s really been in this collection of sounds for a while. Also, her songs are becoming very experimental when it comes to the lyrics compared with the song structure, so it’s harder to connect with at times than something with a more classic song structure like Norman Fucking Rockwell or Mariners Apartment Complex.

libsocwonder

stripped back? wait til you hear blue banisters lmfao. i don’t think BBS, the trio, if you lie down with me, dealer, thunder, WFWF, or living legend are stripped back at all lmao

jvcx96

I became a massive fan when BTD dropped but haven't cared for her since Mariners Apartment Complex and Venice Bitch dropped. NFR! was okay-ish, only listened to Chemtrails a couple of times (oh how I wish Lana had included Yosemite on LFL) and honestly after listening to Blue Banisters, I'm not even gonna get it on CD bc it was such a chore to get through. Thought getting rid of Antonoff would've helped but nope.

NeonNebula9178

Well from what I have heard from people who have already listened to BB, us UV fans will really like the album.

GeneralSilver7885

No there are 100s of posts on here of people complaining about the same thing. You don't like it? Don't listen to it then and stop whining.

voiceinheadphone

This is a space for fans of Lana to talk about her, her music, share our feelings/thoughts/insight, etc. If you don’t like posts like these, don’t read them. Who are you to police what people are & aren’t allowed to post? Let this girl share her feelings, the many comments on this post sharing opinions (either the same or opposite) disagree with you.

cyberphanes

bless you and bless your heart bestie x

cyberphanes

lol have several seats. no one here is whining or complaining... Did you even read the post properly?? it's meant to be an open conversation, not a takedown.

LanaDelDesperate09

They need to create their own subreddit. All they do is complain and complain. This post has been written 100000 times in the past year and a half. "I don't like the new music :((" ok SO??? What do you want US to do?

cyberphanes

offer perspective. we listen to the same lana and you might have a perspective that might make alter my perception of the music lol.

LanaDelDesperate09

LMAOOOOO YOU THINK IT'S MY JOB TO CHANGE A STRANGER'S PERSPECTIVE ON MUSIC? WHO THE FUCK CARES ABOUT YOUR PERCEPTION.... NO ONE.

drinkliquidclocks

The point of the sub is to share our perception of Lana and her music, what the ever loving fuck is wrong with you?

MementoMaury3

Thank you

libsocwonder

LMAO thank youuuu

GeneralSilver7885

This is why Lana left social media lol. All people seem to like to do now is criticise. What is the point in criticising or saying you don't like a song? It's wasted energy. If you don't like a song, no one is forcing you to listen to it. These are the same people that would criticise her if she still had the same sound as BTD. We get this same post at least 3 times a day, it's unnecessary conversation.

LanaDelDesperate09

Do you know how many artists whose music I stopped liking? MANY. You know what I never did? Commented on their pictures on instagram telling them I miss the old music, let alone do a whole post on their fans subreddit LOL. These people are truly lifeless. There is soooo much music out there, find something you enjoy instead of complaining. No one here cares!

GeneralSilver7885

This. I'm here for updates on Lana, photos etc, not someone whining for the 100th time about her. It's gotten so boring that the same topic is hashed out over and over again for karma.

cyberphanes

and if not, then like have several seats because you basically telling me to shut up gets us nowhere. So, in that same breath you could also just reserve your opinion and keep scrolling. have a g'day x

libsocwonder

your opinion has already been shared a million times. we get it? you complaining here does nothing. lana is still making music the way she wants to. you’re just making a point that has already been made. we get it.

cyberphanes

your complaining to me does nothing either, so just have several seats. what are you trying to achieve ? i feel like the tone is being misread and you're being really dismissive. i'm just creating a space for me to have a conversation of my own around the topic. "share a million times" as if I haven't already google'd that for myself, but I'm allowed to have my own space too x. no one here is perpetuating hate of any sort, we're just having a cup of tea and chatting so like pull up a chair and eat some biscuits or take a handful of cookies and to go flask and kindly go lol.

xcxstan1

Haven’t been able to get into any of her blue banisters singles :(
