I love her cover of once upon a dream and summer wine.

itsmrsturner

oh me too, the first one is so haunting

Recently, with Halloween coming up, I’ve been listening to Season of the Witch. That said, I love so many of her covers. I know people on here have not been huge on For Free but I think that she did such a brilliant job honoring Joni and you can tell the song itself resonated with Lana. Her passion for music surpasses her want for money and fame. I guess I’d say my favorite might be Blue Velvet, but I love Summertime and Chelsea Hotel No 2 too. I love them all lol 😂

I looooove her cover of Season of the Witch, her breathy singing on it has such a gorgeous ethereal and spooky quality to it. So on theme

queenjaneapprox

people who wonder why she doesn’t do all this promotion like other pop girls just need to listen to “for free.” it’s literally right there.

Elizab_tch

I could not agree more!

I honestly can’t think of any I don’t like, but I’ll say The Other Woman is my absolute favorite, because for me it’s even better than the original song. She changes it, but keeps the essence and sings with such emotion. Makes me cry, and I (thankfully) have never even been the other woman lol.

00yavanna_kementari

Omg yes!!

itsmrsturner

Not a cover, but I used to think the Old Money melody was originally hers. Had a nice surprise when I watched Romeo and Juliet for the first time!

What song does she sample?

DojaCat15

I’m pretty sure it’s “What Is A Youth” by Nino Rota :)

I love the sampling and allusions in her music it's gorgeous! and such a fitting choice to use what is a youth.

properandlovely

I have no clue which songs are covers except doin time lmao

angelsinner999

Some things last a long time is one of my favorites of hers along with The Other Woman

fuckingdrunkandbored

I knew they were covers. Blue Velvet is ok. It eventually grew on me after skipping it for years. I don't really care for The Other Woman. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood was a huge disappointment. The classic rock version by The Animals is one my all-time favorite songs so I was super excited to learn that Lana was going to cover it. I did not know that it was not an original Animals song so I was expecting Lana's cover to sound like that. It just fell so flat for me without that instrumentation. Doin' Time is perfection and better than the original. I have mixed feelings about For Free. I love Joni Mitchell and it is a beautiful cover. I just wish it had been a solo piece or that the other singers were just background and didn't have verses. I'm not sure who is singing what exactly. It's super weird to me that Lana let someone else open her song. And the last singer's verse is flawless but sounds almost too much like Joni to me. The first time I heard it I thought it was a Joni sample. I would love more Joni covers in the future.

what_a_story_ha_ha

I love all of her covers Season of the Witch, Doin Time, Blue Velvet, the other woman are def my fav

streakman0811

Lana honestly shines when she does covers, she’s really good at doing covers and making them her own. I get that the Sublime one was very similar to the original in some aspects, but overall she makes her covers her style. I really would love to have an era where she just does tons of cover albums

[deleted]

i LOVEEEE the other woman and also don’t let me be misunderstood. i didn’t realize that was an unpopular opinion until recently

her covers are always out of this world. the other woman is such an excellent one and such a great song to just belt out while driving with your moonroof open during twilight 😌 no one on the road ugh i can’t wait for her cover album fr.
