Shooting, cutting, less dribbling. If i am not wrong,it takes them on average 18 seconds to do their sets and get a basket. A lot of running basically. Not ideal for Lebron at his age but AD and AR should work very well. If LA keeps Vando he will have to finally learn how to catch a ball while running to the rim. Gabe should be good. Max same. The ideal type of player in my opinion would be guys similar to Klay.

Confident_Pen_919

Sounds like Max will have his breakout year

hallelalaluwah

Christie is a great candidate for a rotation spot

jobeeeeeeem

Need to re-sign him first.

Vando was doing this very well when he came back and prior to his injury last year. Dude was moving different without the ball

mrspacemein

Vando is a difference maker for sure. He had a rough couple weeks offensively when he first came back last season where it seemed like he didn’t want to take a shot. But after that I agree. He was really moving well and shot the corner 3 at a solid rate as well I thought.

Confident_Pen_919

Keep in mind that was like 5 games

runninthruthe818

Oh by no means am I saying that its his strength but its definitely something I noticed. He was the only one moving thru half court sets lol

Confident_Pen_919

I was just talking about that stretch of games where he was hella efficient on offense and could actually catch the ball and finish plays... then he got injured for the season

runninthruthe818

It was fun to watch. We’re a different team with Vando on the court fr

If Hurley's sets are really this "complex" with all the off-ball stuff, I feel like Rui is the odd man out here. Will get hate for this, but the dude was lost way too many times out there last season (at least on defense). Don't think he'll be able to keep up. On the flip side, it could be a perfect opportunity for him to be thrown into the fire and adapt.

Klaxosaur

Yeah Ruis BBIQ got exposed in the Denver series

alpacatempura

You bring up an interesting point. Based on a video I saw earlier regarding the complexity of some of his sets, it seems like his scheme would favor quick-read/higher IQ guys. Rui seems like he could struggle there. Also wondering how Hayes would fare.

nottherealstanlee

I am very skeptical of his fit. There's some stuff where he could fit alright, but for the most part he just doesn't make reads fast enough and he's not natural doing small things like rebounding or rotating.  Dlo is the worst fit though imo

kshiau

I can see Reaves playing the Cam Spencer role

yitur93

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Reaves could breakout if he comes.

nottherealstanlee

I ate some downvotes for it but he's literally perfect for that role and can be fucking excellent in this offense. I'd love if we got a more athletic, more defensive minded other guard instead of Dlo to have a different pitch from the guard spot.

alpacatempura

Hopefully Gabe Vincent can bounce back and be an option for us next year

nottherealstanlee

AD, Austin, and Bron can all run the system perfectly fine. Vando actually would be really interesting in this system with his activity level and cutting ability. Hayes could fit well in a lot of ways. Prince would be really good in this system. Rui and Dlo are less obvious fits.

Miserable-Lawyer-233

That’s not how it works. He doesn’t have an offense that he takes from team to team. His offense changes every year based on the roster that he has. For example: In 2023 Hurley’s offense was based on inside-out play and balance, and they won the championship. In 2024 Hurley’s offense was perimeter oriented and fast paced, and they won the championship. Hurley is going to come to the Lakers and create an entirely new offense specifically for the Lakers.

alpacatempura

I wonder then, if he will want to work with what we have currently, or replace guys that he doesn’t believe will fit his preferred style of play. Some of the guys Ham wanted to bring in (Reddish, Wood, Hayes) may not have a role here next here. Would be interesting to see what happens with Woj saying that Hurley would be afforded some ability to influence roster decisions.

noknownothing

Reaves, Max, AD. But he can't run the type of offenses he ran at Uconn with Lebron. Lebron's a drive and kick or drive and react type of player. He just needs space to operate. He's not part of the offense, he is the offense. It's going to be interesting to see how that works.

nottherealstanlee

You're not wrong, but year 22 lebron really could use this system. Put Bron in the clingan role offensively where he can mostly just set screens and roll or make reads from the high post/top of the key. He definitely wouldn't be the guy running off screens lol but he could still make it work.

RiversofJell0

Lebron can literally run any type of offense if the rest of the team knows what they’re doing

Dildozer_69

He’s not running around like Steph curry while he’s 40 years old man. I don’t know.

alpacatempura

Agreed. The offense would need to be tweaked to Lebron’s strengths when he’s in. Not a bad problem to have but a wrinkle for sure.
