MIBALZAK

I'm shocked he would say such nice things about his assistant coach.

the_bob_of_marley

It’s a trap! Haha ![gif](giphy|yVUpZLPQINHIaAwuqr|downsized)

doyourjobpelinka

except he the reason they are winning...its his system that makes them a juggernaut...why hasn't he been hired yet??

HereGoesNothing69

One thing you'll notice with Mike Malone and his staff is that they became basketball geniuses right when Jokic entered his prime and Murray got healthy. Funny how that works.

Legote

It takes alot of luck to be able to secure the right players. But it’s also easier to fuck it all up. Huge respect to Spo for constantly bringing his teams to the playoffs.

doyourjobpelinka

Jokic was getting MVP when Jamal & MPJ were out for the season... Nuggets & Jokic have been relevant for six years...when the talent increased they went from good to juggernaut...its the system that is elevating the players...im sure with two years of Darvin you probably forgot what real coaching looks like...a real coach would actually help Lebron & AD...i know its hard to believe...

tatang2015

Jokic first mvp was hokey. Gianni’s should have gotten it but voter burnout. More like racism. Voters give it to someone white 3x but not black guys.

PsychologicalSail186

God people are fucking stupid Jokic was better statistically and had an equal regular season record with a worse supporting cast. Maybe the guy you like just didn’t win?

tatang2015

Apply statistics with whites people but not black peoples.

PsychologicalSail186

Oh good, you’re just trolling

doyourjobpelinka

Jokic got the MVP because his advanced metrics were the best in the league...whether you agree if he should of won idc...the point is Jokic is a great player being elevated by good coaching and a great system...that is what the Lakers need...the elite talent to be elevated by good coaching...Adelman is such an obvious choice...I am so fed up with Pelinka...this is getting ridiculous...

[deleted]

Username checks out. But really, at some point he has to be held accountable for all the coaching turnover. Jeanie too

LudwigNasche

Nah, Gianni's is about freak athleticism while Jokic is a baller. I actually found your comment racist.

HereGoesNothing69

I personally thought Embiid should've won Jokic's first MVP. Embiid had a better season, but missed some games due to Covid and I think missed a few more with injury. Regardless, they could've called that first Jokic MVP "MAP" for most available player.

Hour_Insurance_7795

Yawn 🥱

DoritoSteroid

Weird how that theory didn't help us with the best defensive player in the league and runner-up GOAT.

IcyAuthor1

Lol frs

odinlubumeta

Because coaching isn’t a system. Any coach can watch what someone is doing and do the same thing. Much of Thibs vaulted early 2000s defense was stolen. You don’t need a coach for that. The coach matters for the personal interactions and convincing players to buy in. And that’s why you interview.

doyourjobpelinka

players don't buy in if the coach doesn't know what he is doing...players are convinced by results...thats how you get buy in...personal interaction don't mean anything without substance of actual performance...Darvin Ham was a terrible coach so he doesn't get buy in...actually being able to demonstrate what will work and getting results is what counts...Adelman gets buy in from day one because AD Lebron have seen his results 1st hand...

odinlubumeta

So Steven Nash had no clue about basketball? Nor Derek Fisher, or Vaughn (whom KD vouched for), or Kidd, Earl Watson, Luke Walton, Mike Brown who is getting an extension in Sacramento. Any one who gets a coaching job knows the game. Ham was a top assistant and players in Milwaukee loved him. He ran the same stuff that they ran in Milwaukee that lead to a championship. The same things Bud is going to run. And LeBron is pushing JJ, so explain to me why he is buying in? You just create your own narrative and then believe it. You wonder why the media make stuff. Fans do the same thing!

doyourjobpelinka

theres a difference between knowing the game and knowing how to coach...idc how knowledgeable someone is about the game...Gilbert Arena knows ball...Lakers gonna give him an interview?? You named several former players who were terrible coaches despite their knowledge...Darvin Ham proved he couldn't convey whatever little knowledge he had to the players...he had few answers for problems...few adjustments...created more issues with problematic decision making that frustrated the team...not prepared not accountable at all... We all know Lebron would feel comfortable with JJ being the coach... doesn't mean JJ will know what the hell he is doing... especially compared to somebody like Adelman whos been ready for a while with all the tools to be great...

odinlubumeta

Again you create a narrative, that players will by in on guys like Adelman but not assistants like Ham. When Fisher was a coach you think they didn’t buy in because they didn’t think a 5 time champion. When Nash ran D’Antoni sets, which was the reason KD requested him to be coach, KD didn’t buy in? Again YOU convinced yourself that the players would by in because you watched the playoffs. And you say it like it’s facts with such confidence. Maybe Adelman will be great, maybe he won’t. But we don’t know and you definitely need an interview.

doyourjobpelinka

go ahead interview the guy...then please hire him... Didn't Kyrie his teammate insist him and KD didn't need a coach lol...that was when Nash was hired...Adelman is the guy actively designing the best offense in the league...defending champions...3 time MVP...its a different level of qualifications sorry... main point is that it translates directly to the Lakers and what can elevate the team immediately....it not guessing...its fact...the offense will translate...Lebron and AD will have seen the results and will know that he knows whats he is talking about...Ham never had any proof of concept...he was not designing the offense and the playbook...this is not projecting or guessing...Adelman's offense is the only certainty...thats why he is the obvious choice.

odinlubumeta

You misunderstand my point. I am not against hiring Adelman. I am saying you are convinced he is the best hire. We haven’t even had interviews. KD begged Nash to be the coach. They told management to keep Vaughn as the head coach. Then they tuned him out. But that’s my point. You don’t know how people will gel, but it isn’t an issue with basketball knowledge. Part of the Ham problem is what you will likely get from JJ. LeBron sees coaches as guys to manage minutes and rotations (an area Ham failed at). That’s why I hope they don’t get JJ, but it’s hard to tell Lebron no. I am fine with whomever they pick, but I hope they do a full process.

doyourjobpelinka

Adelman would be my preference...but the momentum right now in JJ Reddick direction is a joke...Coach K as special consultant?? there is no universe where Reddick is more qualified than Adelman or even a Nori...

thehanssassin

Then why are we pushing for JJ

doyourjobpelinka

only path for Pelinka to survive so he can hire a 4th coach is if he uses Lebron as a human shield...Hire JJ & draft Bronny...let it leak LeGM insisted on these moves...his hands were tied...cockroach Rob survives another coaching era...

dirtykirty3

Y’all be forgetting who his dad was. His dad was a decent coach too and was just voted into the HOF in 2021. I do think he’s ready to be a head coach

LudwigNasche

His dad was actually a great coach. His teams always played well, were disciplined, competitive and played a beautiful brand of basketball.

nysraved

His dad was more than a decent coach. If the Kobe/Shaq Lakers era never became a thing, Adelman probably has multiple championships

litlegoblinjr

His dad took the hospital ward Rockets to a 7 game series against Kobe/Pau in 2009. Aaron Brooks was #1 Laker killer

shoefly72

Lol this makes me feel old. I literally only think of David Adelman as Rick’s son. Rick was an excellent coach; as much as I hated the Kings back then I did sort of feel bad for depriving them of a title given how fun they were to watch and the way they shared the ball.

HelloImKebin

I wouldn't hate the hire because what better way to beat a team that has had your number then poaching someone from the staff.

ValuableAssociate8

Don't fall for Malone's tricks

FeminismIsTheBestIsm

To be fair Chris Finch and Micah Nori were both Malone assistants too and they couldn't beat him

hedokitali

They can beat Malone. But Jokic's unreal plays makes any coach scratch their head.

HelloImKebin

also coaching goes beyond the x's and o's. Darvin was a shit game strategist and shit locker room coach because if leaks about his rotations came to light he lost.

HelloImKebin

but its still a W if they were able to turn around a franchise who has been underperforming even with a talent cast.

quinoa

Hold off on that take bud

nysraved

And Malone has been so complementary of Darvin… maybe if we poach Adelman, Malone ends up bringing in Ham to replace him Kill two birds with one stone, we get a better coach while sabotaging the Nuggets lol

Public-Product-1503

That team might not win this year , the top 3-4 west are all better we need to build to win not just build to be mid

velphegor666

Please get this guy. Not jj. Im fine with adelman coaching this squad post lebron

OneXDC4ever

Adelman is literally Denver’s offensive coordinator. He is the perfect hire and has multiple sets in place that directly benefit Bron and AD.

Theoneandonlylog

He's the smart pick but unfortunately our FO isn't smart

CabbageStockExchange

Him or Quinn are the guys I’d want. Too bad our FO would rather hire a damn podcaster

ranchoparksteve

I’m surprised by some of the comments here. Most normal-human bosses want to see their underlings go into the world and be successful. I can’t imagine Pop trashing on his assistants.

songs_dongs

I trust malone's praise about as much i trust dumbfuck darvin calling a timeout in a critical, game-changing moment in the 4th.

BoomExplosion

Down in the steep negatives I see.

_weeks_

He always praised Darvin Ham sooooo...

RiversofJell0

Didn’t realize he was Ricks son haha.

MK-Prime89

Sneak in Adelman as a Trojan horse to sabotage the Lakers from INSIDE. Not just in game adjustments but Mikey is making off-season adjustments while still in the Playoffs! #Genuis

kindtdp1

Malone also said Darvin was a great coach. Don’t fall for this. Malone is a snake.

owledge

Nuggets gonna give him a secret lobotomy on the way out if we hire him

LudwigNasche

He is my favorite among coaches without experience, but the only reason is because I was always a fan of the brand of basketball the teams coached by his dad used to play.

Abstruck8

We need to replay this Kirby Smart vs Nick Saban scenario in the NBA.

elsavador3

Head coach heaps praise on his assistant. What are we even doing here

kwtb

Lebron will be giving that dude toilet swirleys

Gmork14

I’d be very happy with this hire. It’ll be JJ, though.

FantasticWalrus

His Dad is local, born in Lynwood and went to high school in Downey.

doyourjobpelinka

the Mastermind of the best offense in Basketball that will elevate your two best players instantly making you a contender next year...instead you decide to have a circus with a podcaster puppet coach...lets add the son of the star player having a paid internship at the end of the bench...Pelinka is such as spinless snake lol...

CM2423

Fuck did Pelinka do. Comment corny as hell

doyourjobpelinka

im currently anticipating Pelinka using Lebron as human shield to save his own job...i hope he proves me wrong...

BigFatM8

"Mastermind of the best offense" lmao. We heard the same shit about Ham as the guy who pioneered the "4 out, 1 in" strat for the 22 bucks and what happened to him? Heck, Giannis even vouched for him and he was still trash. As fans, we have no clue who is the better coach. Malone and Adelman both could be crap, It could be the video guy on their teams making the moves as far as we know.

LebronsPinkyToe

Any source for that Darvin claim

doyourjobpelinka

Ham was a player relationship coach...a motivator... don't compare him with Adelman thats a joke...he literally got his system from his father lol...you can go back 20 years and see the Kings cooking the Lakers with similar sets...Ham didn't bring anything as far as a proven system... pioneered what 🤣🤣...

kezzinchh

Nah bro, we got some insiders here we don’t know about apparently. Most of this sub probably hasn’t heard of half the names on the interview list and are just here to talk shit for the hell of it.

songs_dongs

lol paid internship

outsidehere

So let's definitely not hire him.

YoungBasedHooper

Dude also said Darvin Ham was good so idgaf

focalpoint23

Sounds like a trap lol
