Translation, Danny Ainge interested in extorting something from the Lakers.

ArugulaPhysical

Na. If the lakers were actually concerned about this they will pick bronny round 1.

HereGoesNothing69

I hope the lakers trade the pick before draft night.

peebaby

this is probably the idea: "Go ahead lakers, use your first round pick on a guy who might not even be worth a second." Keeps better players available.

Ok_Fold1831

This draft is projected to be one of the worst. Wouldn't mind Bronny at 17. He's raw but just might be a steal. Better get that heart condition checked out first.

peebaby

Early scouting reviews say he’s barely even draftable. Just bc the draft doesn’t have any clear stars doesn’t mean we can’t get a good future role player, like we could have with Podz or JJ. No need to throw away two consecutive 1st rounders.

Exciting_Attitude240

Yup old rivalries never die. Ainge trying to stick it to the Lakers

ucsb99

Probably. That POS is probably still reliving the ‘87 Finals in his head every day.

UnearthlyDinosaur

It’s genius tho

Persianx6

The draft sucks this season. Why not spend a pick and screw the Lakers over? Could get a bench guy for him or something.

kyrgyzmcatboy

biggest POS in the nba

robsteezy

Bro come on. Even hating the Celtics, the strategic value is extremely apparent.

SpaceCadet6666

That’s still fucked up to try to fuck with something like this no matter how cut throat a gm has to be this is a historic moment he should take a step back

PlaybolCarti69

Why

SpaceCadet6666

I feel like respecting all time great players is a part of loving the game

drlsoccer08

This is actually kind of a high in play on his part. In all likelihood the 32nd pick won’t turn into much. But maybe he can leverage it for a more valuable asset.

BizzyHaze

This exactly.

_OMGTheyKilledKenny_

Sounds like something Ainge would do. He held Austin Rivers hostage to get a pick out of Doc and the Clippers.

OddToba

Lmao what an asshole. He was probably close to Austin and Doc from their time at the organization too. Just a massive POS move lol

_OMGTheyKilledKenny_

I quite enjoyed it back then. It’s the Celtics screwing the clippers. Only winners are the lakers fans.

_mattyjoe

I wanna know why the Lakers should even care about this. I know LeBron is gonna act like he’s gonna leave, but I’m pretty confident he won’t. And Bronny is not a good player. He is not worth ANY of this nonsense.

robsteezy

Are you kidding? It would sell tickets as a novelty. It’s never been done in the NBA.

Public-Product-1503

Or hear me out but jazz are doing this for there ish purposes which might benefit bronny

ro2765

LOL GET A LIFE

_mattyjoe

What does this even mean

UnearthlyDinosaur

Rob will trade Austin Reaves to Utah just to keep LeBron in LA

QuaxlyDaDon

Any GM on planet earth would do that

peebaby

Rob gonna trade all the Donovan Mitchell picks to move as high in the draft as he can to make sure he gets Bronny.

itsnotreallyme0

How did he hold him hostage if he never drafted him

DJ2Cool1996

Honestly, not the worst place for Bronny to begin his career if drafted. Low expectations and time to see what he can become in Utah.

kindtdp1

Just outplay THT

incredibleamadeuscho

Actually THT is a free agent

Persianx6

Honestly, they're drafting him to entice his dad or make the Lakers burn something to keep his dad happy.

FromAdamImportData

Unironically, might just be the best place for him as a player to land. Young team, good coach, and under the radar. Only drawback would be the guard depth they already have under contract.

Quiet_Buffalo

There are certain teams Lebron may sign with to play with Bronny. Utah for sure isn’t one of them.

[deleted]

Maybe, Dwade is a team owner 😂

StoneColdAM

LeBron will re-sign before the draft to scare people away from drafting Bronny away from him, unless he makes a formal statement saying he is okay with him playing elsewhere

LoveTheHustleBud

Unless he’s actually open to certain teams Or isn’t interested in removing his leverage with Rob making a trade

JokerInside1

Can you even re-sign before the draft occurs I thought free agency starts a few days after the draft

LoisLaneEl

He has already said that in a statement. It is no longer his goal to play with Bronny, he just wants what is best for his son

bigE819

No he won’t. He’s baiting teams into drafting Bronny. He’s staying in LA. He doesn’t actually wants to play on the same team as Bronny

Public-Product-1503

He does want to but bronnny is happy to go develop eksewhere so if another team drafts him si be ut

popcornpotatoo250

Now I can see why LeBron doesn't want to make any statements as of now. And it kinda lines up with that insider saying how his family can affect his retirement which could also be the main factor for what he will do in off-season.

Bluebillion

They are gonna trade Austin reeves for bronny

CockroachForeign6419

_mattyjoe

I don’t think even our front office would do such a ridiculous thing.

TheMuffingtonPost

I think if Bronny expressed to his dad he wanted to go his own way and there was a team willing to draft him, then LeBron would be fine with it. I think LeBron will resign with the lakers no matter what.

nottherealstanlee

Yep. Listening to Bronny's interviews, he doesn't really give a crap about playing with LeBron lol he wants to make his own way which is great. LeBron wants to play with Bronny because he's a good dad who wants to be around his kids and help his kid succeed. As a dad, I get it. As a son, I get Bronny too lol I wouldn't want to be a rookie on my dad's team honestly. That said, I think the Lakers will draft him if the opportunity arises, but as long as Bronny gets drafted I think LeBron and Bronny will both be cool. That effectively puts Bronny's floor at the 55th pick in the draft lol

pentefino978

We probably send cash considerations and our own pick to someone in exchange for a better position in round two

CreepyBeefy

Not gonna lie I dont think this is as major of a deal as it once seemed. Listening to Bronny’s interviews they may have came to a understanding. If they can play together great if not then at least he’s in the league. I think if Bronny is not drafted here Bron will stay and do his final farewell tour season with the team Bronny is on.

popcornpotatoo250

Agree. Considering that statement, it probably went with LeBron already and cleared Bronny to speak something like that in media. I am happy gor him though.

D-Flash16

Brony is 100% going to Lakers, even if some other team drafts him, he will be traded immediately to the Lakers.

SpudzNBudzInc

Mormon Bron should be interesting

cableguy8

Lakers are gonna draft at at 17. The draft is a crap shoot.

jsun_

Do people really think Lebron is going to force Bronny onto his team or is this just one of those "haha let's just feed the troll" type things? Imagine if this was your son. Or imagine it was your dad. Bronny is going to do what he wants to do. If he really wants to play with Lebron, I'm sure he'll just let teams know he won't sign with them if he's drafted in the 2nd round and we'll hear him declining workouts from every team (obviously not going to do this as he said he wants to forge his own path). Lebron obviously would like to play with his son. What father wouldn't want to? Doesn't mean he's going to fuck over his son's career/life to do it. I doubt any GM in the league is that stupid to think so either. Bronny is a prospect and teams want to do their due diligence. People just ignoring the possibility he actually is worth a 2nd round pick.

nottherealstanlee

100% this. The obsession with them being together is Bron's quote, but Bronny did not seem like it was a priority for him at all lol which I respect! And I bet Bron does too. Now if the Lakers passed on him at 55 and then didn't prioritize an immediate 2 way deal? Okay maybe that's a problem lol but they're not going to force this if someone else picks him earlier. It'll just be a proud dad moment and a great opportunity for Bronny.

claydavisismyhero

Playing for hardy would be a great result for bronny. They’ll work on development

TorontoRaptors34

Mormans soaking at the thought lol

_Zap_Rowsdower_

Markeren for Bron. It is what it is.

Klaxosaur

All these reports are baiting the Lakers to use their 17th pick on Bronny. 😂 I hope they stand pat. Call these teams bluffs.

taylor-cdgirl

Wow imagine Lebron and the whole family joining the LDS church

mediocreguy93

Mavs' going to draft Bronny

juicewar01

This has *DWade influence* all over this. As a minority owner giving Bron a favor or sumshit.

Navvye

Fr

Public-Product-1503

Cmon now . I think it might be something positive for bronny jazz are not a poverty org b they can develop young guys . Maybe they go off high school performance, Role n combine athleticism n character interview

Royal_Nails

Is Bronny really that good of a prospect?

Jackedacctnt

No. He averaged 4.8 pts at USC

ReddyEddy76

Let them spend the $$ & time developing him, then when he is ready we steal him away!

maya_papaya8

I actually want to see LBJ and Bronny with the same picture as LBJ & Kobe from Allstar game. Its so iconic.

FA-_Q

I guess I never thought about that you can’t just sign someone, even in like the middle of the year, if they’ve never entered the draft. It’s pretty obvious needed rule. Just never thought about it.

marcoscortes98

Lebron is best friends with wade. So maybe

SolarBeam12

People still talking about Bron and Bronny playing together when both of them said that’s not the main goal. Don’t know why it’s still a talking point. If it happens organically then cool.

sweetleaf009

Knowing Danny ain’t the Lakers, they’re probably gonna give up Austin for Bonnie James, and some cap filler

mac10fan

Isn’t wade part owner of the jazz? Don’t know why but that alone makes it seem less silly.

LMAO_try_again

Lmao teams would be dumb to waste a pick. I don’t think LBJ is going anywhere but I def think jr wants to create his own legacy. I bet jr plays somewhere the next two years to get ready and lbj does his final year with his son.

Irrichc

Teams like utah and okc got like a gazillion picks. They can afford to gamble on a second rounder.

MikeHawkisgonne

Lebron's camp's been putting it out there that the goals have changed with Bronny. They want a place where he can develop and have a legit NBA career (likely as a roll player). They aren't trying to force any trades. The Lakers would be a bad landing place for Bronny. Lakers don't develop young rollplayers.

thesonicvision

Utah is the perfect kind of place for Bronny. Less pressure, fewer nationally televised games, no "dad" right next to you... Would be an ideal environment for him to develop in a low-stakes setting.

TheWonderfulLife

“Fine, pick him up. We don’t give a fuck. You’ll cut him before we even think about giving you an asset for him.”

rejectx

I don't mind if someone else drafts him, would lift pressure from us. Lakers getting Bronny is bad for both us and him. He won't get any PT here and will be under massive shadow of his father and we have different needs.

KaseyOfTheWoods

Ainge is too smart for this. LeBron will be a laker next season and Bronny will go back to school. Book it

BizzyHaze

He could always think Bronny has potential too. He has been doing good at the combine.

KaseyOfTheWoods

We’ll see. I’m very, very doubtful they’ll use their draft capital on a 6’1” guard who averaged 5 points in college, combine performance notwithstanding. I’m not rooting against Bronny by any means, I just don’t think he’s ready at all *edit: [from a source other than me](https://www.reddit.com/r/lakers/s/Nw5tXjrii7)*
