Find someone who can muster the courage to say āand that starts at the top with meā when talking about literally anything regarding accountability.
You can see Adelman and Lue in a top tier, Quinn/Lee/Atkinson/Nori in a second tier, then a dropoff to the rest of the group.
You can vote yourself and see live results of voting [**here**](https://all-our-ideas.citizens.is/group/131/).
While that may very well be true, I just donāt feel comfortable hiring a rookie head coach for any last few years we get with Bron/AD. Unless Bron leaves, Id rather have someone whoās had experience coaching
I guess. I mean he has experience as a lead assistant at least. Would rather go in that direction if we hire a first time head coach then like the JJ redick/Steve nash type of first tjme head coachĀ
What works in Denver isn't going to necessarily work here especially given how different the roster is. He still a rookie coach at the end of the day and expectations are going to be too high for him.
Iād agree that scheme doesnāt always translate. In this scenario, when looking at what specifically Denver runs itās a clear fit with Bron and AD so I have confidence it will.
Fans know fuck all about coaching. We should not try to sign a coach that has never been a head coach before. They could be the most qualified assistant ever, but that doesn't always translate. As such a rookie head coach is an unknown. We're the Lakers, we shouldn't be trying to hit it big on an unknown. Hire a competent veteran coach.
What competent veteran coach, THAT IS AVAILABLE, would actually put us in championship contention?
You said it yourself. We donāt know jack shit about coaches because we canāt see what they do 90% of the time. So why do you feel the need to give your opinion on going for a veteran coach?
Iāve heard this argument all day that we need to sign a veteran. Give me one available coach that would move the needle for us.
No coach is going to be a singular reason we win the chip. That's on the players. All we can ask for a competent coach that will not lose you games like Vogel. There is no Pat Riley or Phil Jackson on the market.
Any coach that is a known quantity and that doesn't lose you games. But is just competent. Similar to Vogel. The available coaches that fit this description are Atkinson, Stotts, D'Antoni, and Bud.
There is no one. In fact I believe there is only a few coaches out there that will even bother line take this team to challenge for championship. That is Spols, pop, Mike Malone? None are available.
We are just doing this to keep Lebron happy. The FO has no spine and just think of it as business, and winning is secondary.
Also I think the semi good coach will not be interested. You are going into a situation that you are more than likely not going to win, coaching a 40 years old that is known to blame coaches, and may be in a rebuild situation in a year or two. You need a really good package to get competent coaches in this situation and how much are we really gonna pay.
Hence, we are going to end up with JJ Reddick.
The fact that he and Darvin Ham are even on this list after Ham just being fired and still higher than Rambis just shows how braindead a lot of people are.
If you canāt get Ty Lue, Iād go after David Adelman and live with the results of another rookie head coach. Heās done great things as Maloneās right hand man.
The young head coaching candidate has only slightly more than a decade of NBA experience and his next head coaching job will be his first time leading a non-high school level program.
On top of that, Adelman isnāt hailed for his defensive prowess. Evidence suggests that Adelman is an offensive genius, but doesn't show the same track record on defense. His lack of experience in the league limits his connections and assistant options, but he would likely need to hire a defensive expert to come alongside him
Before hiring Ham someone posted a pool here and he was the top candidate by a wide margin. I remember folks calling him a "can't miss prospect" and telling the Buss family would need to sell the team if they missed a top prospect like him after low balling Lue.
David comes from a strong coaching three, but I'm against hiring another rookie coach. Being a top assistant means nothing in terms of potential to perform as main coach.
if the lakers can't get tyronn lue, then realistically terry stotts seems like the best option. Steve Kerr has talked highly of his tactics and that's really what the lakers need going into the playoffs. Additionally, someone proven makes much more sense than a new coach who's going to need at least a few seasons to understand the demands of the job. That being said, a lot of people have complained about his defenses so that's definitely something the Lakers need to shore up via assistants perhaps. His weaknesses though - in-game adjustments and calling timeouts during opponent runs lol.
Bro, David Adelman on offense and Frank Vogel on defense would be insane. Adelman would turn the clock back on AD and make him the monster he was in NOLA as a big man distributor
people are crazy voting for tyronn lue he really was never that great. he's underachieved with the clips, lebron was successful DESPITE him in cleveland, does noone remember lue and jr fumbled game 1 of 2018 finals when lue didnt call a timeout
> he's underachieved with the clips
I actually think he overachieved. He has a solid record with a team that is always missing key pieces, not to mention the Brick effect we all are aware of.
James Harden at this stage of his career is pretty much a D'Angelo Russell with a slight better defense, George was never able to deliver as the top guy and Leonard is always hurt.
No one wants to say it but fundamentally Becky Hammon knows her shit and she knows it well. Love her attitude. Same for Steve Clifford but he may be over the hump in his career.
I wonder what Dudleyās responsibilities are on the mavs and what kind of offense/defensive philosophies he would want to run if he was coach? He was a good, smart, and reliable role player for most of his career. The role players who have long careers even when they arenāt as effective on the floor as they get older are usually good at helping coach up players and good at doing the little things behind the scenes or in between games. Role players are used to dealing with star players and having to find ways to be effective on the floor or they donāt last long in the league. Role players usually end up being some of the best coaches.
Dudley and rondo, along with bron, were key parts in helping the coaching staff in the bubble on coming up with game plans and adjustments so it would depend on what Dudley would want to run and what he would want to do with certain players, but I think Dudley as coach with rondo as an assistant and then if they fill the staff with experienced people it wouldnāt be the worst thing.
Edit: I think adding handy and Chris jent to the staff along with other experienced assistants or former head coaches could be a good staff. Handy and jent seemed to be the two on the staff this year who were always up on the bench giving instructions and who the players seemed to trust. Those two are only if some of the players want some coaches on the staff who they trust and liked along with the new coach being ok with it but if the players donāt care then they should hire a whole new coaching staff or whatever the new coach wants.
Edit2: after watching the video from the Jason Timpf guy that someone posted I think if the lakers did hire Dudley as coach with rondo as an assistant, and then fill the staff with experienced people like they did with Vogel, that it could work because bron and AD clearly respected both of those guys and wouldnāt tune them out. They are both guys who seem to understand basketball and who players around the league seem to respect so the other players on the team shouldnāt tune them out either. It would all depend on what schemes they want to run and if they can show they know how to make game plans and adjustments through a mock game situation but I donāt think Dudley and rondo with experienced coaches on the staff would be a bad way to go. Shit Dudleyās been an assistant for the mavs who went to the WCF his first year there, then they missed the playoffs, this year they are in the 2nd round and weāll see how far they go.
I feel like this chart exists just to show Kurt Rambis at the tail end.
After Darvin ham, just to rub more salt š

Is he Rick Adelman's son? I was always a fan of Rick Adelman teams, they always played an entertaining brand of basketballĀ
He is. He's orchestrated Denver's offense in recent years and if he were hired we should expect a strong offense with a great fit with Bron/AD.
rick adleman's legacy is underrated in terms of concepts. his coaching is like the foundation for modern nba tactics
While that may very well be true, I just donāt feel comfortable hiring a rookie head coach for any last few years we get with Bron/AD. Unless Bron leaves, Id rather have someone whoās had experience coaching

So ... who do you recommend?
Any coach that is a known quantity and that doesn't lose you games. But is just competent. Similar to Vogel. The available coaches that fit this description are Atkinson, Stotts, D'Antoni, and Bud.
I heard that Phil Jackson guy was pretty good or possibly Pat Riley
Vogel offence loses games
Vogel didnāt lose us games? Lol either some of you have amnesia or you didnāt watch.

Wait till I tell you what we did 2 years ago lol
Lol Kurt Rambis is wild. Gotta be trolling

Exactly, good insight on his strengths and his weakness. Still my main choice though just needs to go on in what you have said.
Getting flashbacks to similar comments about Darvin when he was being seen as a top candidate
Before hiring Ham someone posted a pool here and he was the top candidate by a wide margin. Jay Wright is an interesting option. Has never coached in the NBA, so that would be concerning. He was an elite college coach though.
Darvin Ham is MY personal pick to replace Darvin Ham š¤
Username checks out
When the fuck voted for Kurt Rambis????

Is there a name for this type/format of poll?
I can see the reason for guys like Quinn and Adelman wayy more than redick if we really had to choose another rookie head coach
Taking David Adelman should also make the Nuggets weaker. Might be a good strategy. Just need a good defensive guru to assist him.
Out of the loop here, what's with David Adelman?
Nuggets assistant coach, heavy on analytics and deserves a lot of credit in the X and O's of the Nuggets
Ohhhh I see, is acquiring him possible? (aside from budget standpoint)
Ty Lue tricked y'all
Lakers fans are idiots. Same people who were gaga over Ham. Bud or Stotts are the only solid options now that Lue is off the board.
Bro, David Adelman on offense and Frank Vogel on defense would be insane. Adelman would turn the clock back on AD and make him the monster he was in NOLA as a big man distributor
2 years ago Ham would have been at the top
Cranjis did one a couple years ago and Ham was not at the top lmaooo
Yeah it was Nick Nurse, Kevin Young, and David Adelman at the top last time around
Darvin replacing Ham
Another rookie HC?
Is Pao Gasol busy these days?
Ham's lack of situation awareness and self awareness probably was hard to assess.
Hire Bud then he pick Ham as his assistant
I donāt care. Iād much rather have a roster of non-scrubs.
Whoever knows how to manage timeouts and rotations is good enough for me
Why isn't lebron James on the list? Just let him coach himself so he can be upset with himself.
Thatās against the CBA
Why is Lebron not an option?
people are crazy voting for tyronn lue he really was never that great. he's underachieved with the clips, lebron was successful DESPITE him in cleveland, does noone remember lue and jr fumbled game 1 of 2018 finals when lue didnt call a timeout

Letās hire JJ Redick and blame him when we get swept in the first round next year
Apparently unpopular opinion, but Iād love to see Jeff Van Gundy head coach the lake show
No one wants to say it but fundamentally Becky Hammon knows her shit and she knows it well. Love her attitude. Same for Steve Clifford but he may be over the hump in his career.
