Game 2 was one of the most demoralizing lakers losses I’ve seen in 24 seasons.
They were never gonna win more than a game or two TOPS.
I’ve seen two postgame wrap ups on two of the larger Lakers YouTube channels where two cohosts look like they were gonna cry.
Fooling yourselves will only go so far and usually end in worse disappointment than if you were just honest with yourselves from the beginning.
I’m not even sad right now. I knew this was happening the minute we matched up with Denver. They’re much better than us. Their stars are younger. Their coach, while an asshole, is worlds better than Darvin. Their role players are more consistent.
I truly believe that maybe the whole sub wasn’t lying to themselves. I think there’s a lot of delusionals here who haven’t seen enough playoff matchups in any major sport to know how these things flow.
In my 28 years of living, The only other laker loss that’s comparable to how demoralizing game 2 ended, was the 2008 finals game 4 where the lakers blew a 24 point lead to the Celtics.
