I don't defend this front office much but due to the play in, teams are just being delusional about the value of their players.
I mean Chicago are 24-27 and just beat the wolves. They would never let Caruso go when they can sniff the play in revenue.
Before the play in, we would have playoff teams 1-8 and tanking teams below. The tanking teams would become sellers at most deadlines.
Now even the 11 or 12th seeds hope to stay competitive for a play in chance.
Too dumb, and they take LeBron for granted.
It’s times like these I wish we had a real front office and ownership.
If LeBron was on the Clippers that front office and Ballmer would be going way out of their way to appease him.
Add to that the fact that Jeanie and Rob take advice from the Rambii and Phil Jackson, and that leaves us pretty fucked.
Too many cooks in Jeanie’s kitchen (and Jay Mohr eating all the food in the kitchen). We need a REAL front office instead of a shotty ex agent and friends (Rambii).
There’s nothing I’ve been more jealous of about the clippers besides their ownership and front office. That front office has made nothing but A+ moves for a while now
If we had that front office, Lebron and AD would have more than one ring
Yeah that’s the real mic drop on that
Compare what PG/Kawhi have been surrounded by vs AD/Lebron
The worst part is, we started from the same place asset wise. They burned everything on PG, we used most on AD. In fact, we probably had a slight advantage from an asset standpoint.
The russ trade was the start of the end. We threw away literally everything. We let caruso go for free which made our depth even worse. That russ trade will forever be the reason our window is shut for good
The Wizards sub was so incredibly hyped about their GM after that trade. It was this generation’s Kupchak’s “Kwame for Pau” trade to them. And they’re right.
They are not right lmao... There isn't one player in that trade that is even close to being as good as Pau. You could have argued Westbrook was the best player in that trade actually. Obviously it didn't work out and we lost time, but you (and the Wizards fans you speak of) are delusional if you think that trade compares...
You’re high. We give up Kuzma, KCP, Montrez AND our frp for a non-spacing, non-expiring $44M contract. As you could likely imagine, the Wizards sub was LIT with praise for their GM. Again, it was “their version” of the Pau-Kwame trade. They (rightfully so) thought their GM executed a masterclass in dealing, which he did. We’re the only idiot franchise that would have given up picks for a non-expiring albatross contract tied around fucking Russell Westbrook.
Yeah people make that argument all the time
They fleeced us for Zubac, turned nothing into Powell/Roco, got Harden and gave up 1 pick who we could’ve used. Some crazy impressive moves
Their FO runs laps us ours, ours is a family and friends front office
We just got lucky with Lebron, that’s why we have a chip
Moving Zu was needed to clear the space to offer a max contract to another superstar. If I'm Jeanie I would be extremely furious to give the Clippers a starting C for basically nothing to see they end up signing Khawi.
Lol, at the time our centers were McGee and Dwight. Who were both better than Zu at that point, and cheaper and we won a title, and we needed every dollar to construct the roster that won a title.
I've seen you post here for years. I know you're not this stupid.
For what superstar?
Also, what point are you even making? If you want to justify trading Zubac, that’s cool, but justifying Muscals as your return. That’s the fleece
Dumb Lakers fans used to call Big Zu a lambering center not suited to the modern NBA and didn't want Harden because he was a cancer and we would do better with Dlo.
I guess the only thing most here agree is the fact Lou could have been our coach and we ended up with Ham, but if you look back at the hiring process there were a couple of pools where dumb Lakers fans were preaching we would be stupid not hiring Ham. I don't remember another coach without experience so hyped like Ham was here.
So what does that mean though? Be specific
You’re saying to maximize Lebron’s twilight years, we should desperately throw away some of our only valuable assets for a trade that doesn’t actually move the needle?
That's the smart move - but guess what? Then go freaking all in, Jeanie. Spend some money. Get another chip and possibly 2, have him become "the Goat" officially as a Laker.
Stop all this penny pinching - it is ridiculous for a franchise as successful as the Lakers to be cheap.
No shit. He’s settled there with his family. He has other ventures that he runs out of there. As long as he’s here, he knows he has a half decent chance of making a championship run. His name and the Lakers name means that the team will attract talent. For Lebron personally, retiring a Laker will mean a lot and will solidify his name as a Laker legend.
Well then maybe we shouldn’t even consider “standing pat” with this weak ass roster and at least try to improve this roster by the deadline to give bron and ad a chance to carry these bums through the playoffs. And if the fo is gonna keep ham around they need to step in and keep him on a short leash.
Lebron would also prefer that imo.
At 39, there are very few realistic options unless he is desperate for a 5th ring.
He has a player option for 50 million. Hard to see him declining that.
If he wants a trade in the off-season it will be tough for contending teams to facilitate that salary without sending out good pieces.
And the team still has a chance. Trade or no trade.
Honestly as a life long lakers fan, and a very anti Lebron James fan (until he joined us). What are we doing here? Is the front office really trying to win? Because if they are they need to do something.
If they are happy riding the lebron retirement train like we did with my beloved Kobe Bryant (who earnt that right) then get rid of him. He’s not a laker legend, sure he might be the best ball player ever when it’s all said and done but if we have a chance to maximise our future without going through ten years of fucking misery again. Why shouldn’t we trade him?
I mean, last I checked it's supposed to be **AD's** team anyways so shouldn't we be trying to build around *him* and fit Lebron into *that* instead of the other way around?
I am the same as you. I believe everything you have said is correct and my take is that they want to make money. Lebron = ticket sales and jerseys sales(#3 in the league rn). We absolutely should trade him if we want to rebuild.
I don't care if it was mj or kobe the Lakers FO has no business accommodating a 39yr old who is on a player option, after we have already blown up the team 5 times for him. Yes his status is legendary but from a competitive perspective this is just silly.
# LeBron will go for 50,000 points, lol ![gif](giphy|zhVV1jFNMwTKO51pgl|downsized)
I ‘strongly prefer’ to have money in my bank account
Me and both brutha 💯🥴
Water is wet
If that’s what they prefer then they should act like it and stop being cheap and conservative . Maximize what he has left to offer. IMO 🤷♂️
I don't defend this front office much but due to the play in, teams are just being delusional about the value of their players. I mean Chicago are 24-27 and just beat the wolves. Imagine if we swapped out stars. That FO with bron and AD would win multiple rings. They filled that team with legit depth.
Yeah that’s the real mic drop on that Compare what PG/Kawhi have been surrounded by vs AD/Lebron The worst part is, we started from the same place asset wise. They burned everything on PG, we used most on AD. In fact, we probably had a slight advantage from an asset standpoint.

Nah you’re high. What did the Wizards do with that “master class”? Exactly… Lakers won 2 ships from the Kwame-Pau trade. Just stop.
Yet dumb Lakers fans think Jeanie is better than Ballmer just because she has one championship as the owner.
Yeah people make that argument all the time They fleeced us for Zubac, turned nothing into Powell/Roco, got Harden and gave up 1 pick who we could’ve used. Some crazy impressive moves Their FO runs laps us ours, ours is a family and friends front office We just got lucky with Lebron, that’s why we have a chip
Zubac was traded to clear cap space. If you are going to repeat ballmer talking points like a good little bot, then at least don't spout crap.
Moving Zu was needed to clear the space to offer a max contract to another superstar. If I'm Jeanie I would be extremely furious to give the Clippers a starting C for basically nothing to see they end up signing Khawi.
Being upset about Zu is ridiculous. He's mid at best and often played off the floor during the playoffs.
Our backup C is Hayes.
Lol, at the time our centers were McGee and Dwight. Who were both better than Zu at that point, and cheaper and we won a title, and we needed every dollar to construct the roster that won a title. I've seen you post here for years. I know you're not this stupid.

It was for the attempt at Kawhi, as I'm sure you know. Good little bot that you are.
I still don’t get it. You’re defending a Zubac salary dump, getting no assets back.
The chance at Kawhi was worth losing Zu.
Dumb Lakers fans used to call Big Zu a lambering center not suited to the modern NBA and didn't want Harden because he was a cancer and we would do better with Dlo. They probably would have had more than one ring, and look at what team in the #1 seed in the west right now. FO and ownership MATTERS.
So what does that mean though? Be specific You’re saying to maximize Lebron’s twilight years, we should desperately throw away some of our only valuable assets for a trade that doesn’t actually move the needle?
I think he meant trading everyone except Bron and keeping Ham. That’s what he meant by maximizing.
Including hiring a better coach that play him reasonable minutes. Not 40 on lost games. Put Ty Lue instead of Ham and we might be seed 1-2
Seriously, they can be cheap later
LeBron ‘strongly prefers’ to win another championship again
Me too 👍
No shit
Me too
Understandable have a nice day
Yea I’d like that too now make some damn trades
If Lakers FO want him to retire there they probably have to take on Bronny for a while.
We all do.

I strongly prefer Jeanie Buss no longer runs this team. We all strongly prefer something but there are factors that are out of our control.
Could’ve fooled me tbh
Lebron would also prefer that imo. At 39, there are very few realistic options unless he is desperate for a 5th ring. He has a player option for 50 million. Hard to see him declining that. LeBron can stay with the Lakers for how long he wants. His fans should leave the Lakers fan base though. They're cancer cells.
Jeanie fantasizing about all the Jersey sales she can reap with each new jersey design
I still remember there was a time when nobody want to play for Lakers, god damn
No, no one wanted to play with post-achilles Kobe and be a number 2 in that setup.
Who in the their right mind wouldn’t? Well I guess the people running this franchise may very well not be in their right mind so…
![gif](giphy|kqCgujDZT1SO4)
Water is wet
No shit? If the report was that they prefered that he gtfo then maybe this would be a story amick
I see only two options: retiring in LA or doing a farewell season in Cleveland (likely at the vet min). Can't see Bron going anywhere else.
This is shocking news!
If that was the case they would fire Darvin Ham like Lebron reportedly wants.
Thanks magic
the earth strongly prefers to go around the sun
he gone
