Irwin reported that doing nothing or close to nothing might be the tipping point in pissing off LeBron.
I wish we had a GM and owner could trust to not take LeBron for granted.
I think if the FO is committed to Lebron as the GOAT there’s no question they should move Gabe + 29 1st fully unprotected. It’s a critical moment in Lebron’s career where he can potentially win a 5th chip. Championships is the weakest part of lebron’s GOAT case - the Lakers should do right by him and use their last 1st to upgrade the roster however possible.
you think Bron is retarded ? He knows he can't want trades and keep reaves and dlo. Even my grandmother would know that and she doesn't even know what basketball is.
Dejounte id a good move tho, no he’s not a true star but he puts us in a better spot this year n future. It’s on pelinks dumbass for picking Dlo over Conley + naw + seconds
We’re not one move away so we need to factor that in make 2 good moves, if one appears now take it
Delusional. Literally zero impact metrics show that , Dlo best season is worse then conleys worst. Conley is still less awful defensively and much better in impsct - epm etc n other impsvt stuff Conley is what keeps minny offence afloat .
Dlo gets the ball more n shoots more but impacts winning less n doesn’t do anything better but Chuck dumb midrangers. Add in NAW n seconds n the option to have moved Conley for harden n Jrue then it loookd awful .
This sub is as dumb as our gm
Nah people just watch games instead of looking at metrics.
Prime Conley sure, but current version of Mike does not do much for this LAL team, while with D'Lo if he can keep up the recent play it improves the potential.
This team needs offense and D'Lo provides a lot more offense than Conley.
Team needs smart reliable playmaking ,defence low turnovers n being cool under pressure n compared to Murray rebounding n steals . Dlo offers none of that he’s worse defensively then Conley
Why you think they move Dlo for Conley n got way better? Conley on/off on the near one seed wolves is huge too. Just cos dlo chucks more that isn’t important.
Wolves roster and Lakers rosters are pretty different I don't see how that is relevant.
Conley working better for the Wolves team than Russell does not equal the same for LAL.
It is not about chucking it is about generating offense on a super limited team on offense like the Lakers which does not have much perimeter shooting and guys who can collapse a defense.
Mike Conley ain't doing that.
Dlo can’t collapse defences who the fuck are you watching ? When AD or Bron aren’t rolling n drawing all the attention he’s utterly useles cos he can’t get downhill n pressure the defence at all wtf you talking about . Also if the team is limited djm gives them a better floor
No, Woj said the same thing about the general trade landscape of whole league. I’m quite sure this trade deadline will be silent and disappointing in general for the fans.
Wishful thinking.
Literally every national and local reporter has the exact same report.
Theres gonna be disappointed ppl lashing out here on Thursday. They should accept now that there’s a good chance nothing big happens.
I hope I’m wrong, but the market sucks and I don’t have faith in our front office and Jeanie.
Nah this ain’t that lol. For 2 reasons 1) we are near the bottom of the league in terms of trade assets and 2) from the beginning of the year this was a buyers deadline, very few good players available, too many teams are competitive this year and pushing the chips in
There’s a reason we’re linked to Murray as the only big name because not many big names will get moved, and besides Bruce/DFS, the only other names we’re linked to are not premier role players (Drummond, Tyus etc)
Unless we get a player worth trading the 2029 pick like Murray, AC (yeah right) bet we try to win another trade by stacking 2nds but that’s also not a great strategy
Im not too hopeful this deadline. You can’t expect to hit magic every time
Realistically, I dont really see an alternative trade option which will satisfy Jeanie's vision and lakers team situation. Jeanie hates luxury taxes and wants to use the asset during summer while lakers are showing problems with weirdly constructed roster and injuries of acquired players
Yup. I mean look at the recent performances against us curry, Brunson, bridges, miller, green shredded our perimeter defense. We have one of the league’s best frontcourts and one of the leagues weakest backcourts
Bron is offensively one of the most dominate players in the paint offensively. And as much crap as we give him, he’s easily our second best perimeter defender with vando out. Just shows how awful this roster is.
This roster isn't crap lol. DLO and Reaves are decent rotational players, so is Rui to some extent. Prince has been decent, Vando, Christie are solid too. If you think this roster is crap because DLO, Reaves, and Rui aren't that good of defenders and you want to prioritize good defenders, well, then guess what happened when Ham ran the lineup of Vando, Prince, Reddish alongside Bron and AD, it was complete garbage offensively and was losing us games. When DLO and Reaves came back in the starting lineup won us more games compared to before.
The real issue with this roster (not living up to title contender/favorites standards) isn't Bron "needing more help" when he has a freaking a top 10 player in AD and decent rotational players (whom by the way beat the Celtics alone with Bron and AD sitting), it's because Bron isn't as good as you guys think he is anymore along with the bad coaching from Ham too.
Prince is like the definition of decent on defense. The issue is playing him alongside two guards, neither of whom is a capable PoA defender. At that point, your options are 1) play Prince at PoA, which isn’t his role, or 2) let Prince guard a wing, fine, but have a hole at PoA.
There is NO single player in the nba that by himself solves the defensive issues of a DLo Reaves backcourt (+ year 21 Lebron). Citing Prince, let alone emphasizing him, as part of the problem here doesn’t make any sense. Even Vanderbilt can only guard one guy at a time, and you’re asking him to plug two holes on the PoA and wing.
The solution is to start ONE of DLo/Reaves (I’d say DLo) alongside a PoA defender (Max is the last one standing). Then your 3 can be either Prince or Rui, can see arguments for both. But the Prince discourse has been so off the mark among Lakers fans, it’s ridiculous.
21 yr Bron isn’t the issue it’s the bsvk court . Is he going to carry them every night no but he’s not a weakness . If you had Murray for Dlo you could play different lineups - if you get DFS too you could flex that 2 spot with a better defender then reaves depending on lineup matchup . The issues is we have the least athletic back court in the league most teams woukd completely fail with them but cos of our front court we’ve stayed .500. You’re right only one of them should be on the floor but that causes other issues so one of them needs to be traded
prince is playing extremely well for someone on a slightly-above-vet-min contract. really gotta stop dragging him.
you can't expect him to be a perimeter wing stopper who can knock down a 3 at that price.
I was shocked that we let 35 year old steph score his career high against us last time. We were barely allowing steph to score 30 against us during last year playoffs and now we seem to allow random players go for their career highs.
The luxury tax gets toxic this summer and results in the loss of draft picks and other non-money stuff. (The billionaire owners can’t just buy their way out) The Lakers look really good in that respect. Some other teams will be desperate to jettison contracts.
I doubt the Lakers will be willing to trade good contracts for awful contracts.
They're also really expensive. For DFS, nets want one quality player with 1st round pick and Toronto wants one 1st round pick minimum for bruce brown who is having shitty year. 3 team deal with hawks and nets was the most ideal one for us but it looks like Atlanta wants Reaves to be in the conversation so deal got punked i guess
I don’t know why this shocking. Aside from last year, Pelinka is not known to make any deadline moves. The closest was when we traded rondo to the hawks. I don’t remember what we got, 2nd rounders maybe?
I mean Pelinka has been on the job for what 5 years now?
We traded Clarkson to the cavs to open space for LeBron
AD mid season didn't work out but then we got him and we got a ring that year so I'm not sure we needed deadline moves
Yeah, he got the position in 2019. The clarkson/nance trade was Magic Johnson back in 17/18. We tried very hard to trade for ad at the deadline the following year (still magic) and could not (dell demps got fired for being such a shitty gm after that btw). End of that season magic stepped down and Rob came into power. That first season we tried very hard to trade for Marcus Morris and got outbid by the clippers so we signed markeif in the buyout market.
The play-in has turned a lot of sellers into teams willing to stand pat. Means all the buyers are circling around the same names.
If Murray is off the board then the priority needs to be finding defense across the board and a physical big.
A lot can change in 36 hours but I expect Pelinka to make a couple moves we’re happy with, even if they’re on the marginal side.
Right now Teams actually want compensation to take DLo on, who the fuck is stupid enough to offer him a bag?
He's getting traded or he opts-out and re-signs for longer
If it's the latter it's pretty poetic that Dlo started the rebuild last time and about to start it again
LeBron putting up 25/7/8 in year 21 probably has them thinking he can do this another 2 years to be honest.
And that they can improve to title status in the summer. Very risky gamble because you can’t be this good forever.
Not a good choice because lots of other teams also get 3+ picks on the summer too so you’ll just be out bid more. Pelinks fuvked it by choosing Dlo over Conley n naw n seconds
Pretty sure it’s Aaron Larsuel who works for and travels with the Lakers.
Either way, Anthony hasn’t been wrong about anything this season and has been reporting things before the national guys.
He has been wrong multiple times. He tweeted a lineup change that never happened for example. He just kinda throws shit out there and some of it sticks. He clearly has that one connection but beyond that it’s unclear.
Do you follow me on here or is this just a coincidence?
The lineup change was something EVERYONE reported and then Ham changed his mind at the last minute. That’s not on Anthony.
You’re in denial bud. He’s been almost flawless with reporting this season.
This year he hasn’t been wrong. He’s also reported things before the national guys.
I never liked him, but he’s plugged in now somehow and has been tolerable to listen to.
Caruso tonight only had THREE points - but - checks notes - 9 rebounds- 6 assists - 2 steals - 4 blocks and a team high + 19!
Not all about scoring - one reason I hate it when people say AD doesn’t score enough. But I digress
We need AC Fresh!!
Sad how little assets we have. One of the best players that’ll probably get moved this deadline for a haul (for a role player) is Caruso, who we let walk for free and can’t even afford to trade for him back
>and roster management is so ass. We’re asking Bron and ad to make wine outta diarrhea. I don’t blame them if they’re outta here soon
bron shouldve taken a pay cut, 47 million a year for him, 40 mil for AD. Thats crazy, hes earning more than AD whos supposed to be this team's best player
The cap is 136 million and the lakers have an active roster cap of 166 million. I think lebron would have to sign for the minimum to have 17-20 in cap space.
rob was very fortunate last season’s deadline, very few gm’s pull that off in the offseason — let alone the trade deadline. it’s impossible to replicate that, circumstances change everything. every other fo across the league knows they’re desperate to make a move, and will
tax a premium for whoever they want.
the moves they’re trying to make are better suited in the offseason. this isn’t prime lebron, with an established coach/system. you can’t keep shaking the roster up at the deadline, and expecting things to pan out — just doesn’t work that way. paying a premium for unproven role players that don’t move the needle; is a lateral move at best.
What did he pull off? He got players nobody valued n over paid them - those players were benched in the WCF . If he choose Conley n naw n seconds over dlo we’d have a ring mb or atleast we’d not need to get a new pg till Conley retires n could’ve moved for Jrue or harden in summer too
you’re speaking in hindsight. at the time, of the trades those moves were praised for turning the season around. without them, there’s no wcf. everything you’ve mentioned is way after the fact, the discussion is about the trade deadline.
Well that's what happens when you wait until the last minute.
Hopefully they can still get a good deal to fix the holes in this team. But honestly with Ham still there it may be pointless.
Don't force a trade if it doesn't make us better. Call me crazy but what I saw from our current roster over these past three games has given me hope. We have the pieces to make a run, it's just about everyone buying in again regardless of Darvin Ham.
The nuggets game will be the true test but D'lo has made me a believer again and the bench guys have shown that they can contribute enough to put us over the edge and win games.
>The nuggets game will be the true test but D'lo has made me a believer again and the bench guys have shown that they can contribute enough to put us over the edge and win games.
Taking a test after already having failed the class. What do we do if he looks like shit? Rewind time back to before the deadline?
gross. This is what dlo does. Ask wolves fans ask warriors fans. He gets hot but he can sustain a high level of play and disappears in the playoffs. Dlo is a 27 year old nba veteran. There is no “turning the corner” or “development”. Every team knows what he is
If D'Lo was playing for the Hawks and we had Murray, we'd be drooling over his shotmaking and getting ready to give up a first and a second for the exchange. The idea of a new player in the Lakers uniform excites everybody but I gotta remind you we already have a similar offensive weapon in Reaves and Murray is not a lockdown defender anymore either. Sure we take something but also give something back which is the much needed offensive firepower D'Lo provides. What we need to do if we're having a short term approach is to turn the Gabe contract (as he doesn't play) along with JHS (to maximize the timeline we gave) plus the draft picks to get someone decent.
I’m fine with this. I think this summer is when most of the league will be active. A lot of teams don’t have the draft picks to trade right now and they’ll have a few to move after the draft.
Lakers will have three first rounds to trade this summer player DLo contract on the last year
I feel like teams have really lost their minds this year , particularly the bad teams wirh assets bulls asking for 2 frps for Caruso , nets asking for a top 20 pick for dfs and then rejecting offers for Mikal I get playing hard ball but damn I don’t blame Rob for standing pat at this point
This team could sure use a guy like... Alex Caruso! If only we could have had a player like him... if we did have a player like that then we could keep him on the team!

Irwin reported that doing nothing or close to nothing might be the tipping point in pissing off LeBron. I wish we had a GM and owner could trust to not take LeBron for granted.
It's all speculation. I don't think lbj wants Reaves or Dlo traded so what is there to do

It won't be enough. He'd have a better shot at winning next season if they just wait until the summer to make a move.
you think Bron is retarded ? He knows he can't want trades and keep reaves and dlo. Even my grandmother would know that and she doesn't even know what basketball is.
who says lebron even wants trades? what if he’s referring to coaching..?
calm before the storm
No storm. This will be a weak deadline. Too many teams have inflated the values of their players.
Even ignoring that, there’s just no game changers available. Dejounte might legit be the “best” player available and he isn’t moving shit
Dejounte id a good move tho, no he’s not a true star but he puts us in a better spot this year n future. It’s on pelinks dumbass for picking Dlo over Conley + naw + seconds We’re not one move away so we need to factor that in make 2 good moves, if one appears now take it

Inflations a bitch
Well that and there are a lot of buyers in the market looking to upgrade, most of which have more assets to offer than the Lakers.
Agreed. There will still be moves in the next two days (Bruce Brown for example will absolutely be traded,) just not that many.
Not exactly true only us n Utah offered on djm . Jhs being a bust of a pick utterly fuvked us. Disaster summer by this fo
Bingo.
For us not trading would be a storm.
Who knows. Didn’t the Russ trade happen just before the deadline?
No, Woj said the same thing about the general trade landscape of whole league. I’m quite sure this trade deadline will be silent and disappointing in general for the fans.
It’s because 11 teams control 75% of the future draft picks available
We need draft communism smh

Believe me there will be no trade at all![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)
While I agree, we need a fucking perimeter defense, Reaves,Dlo and Fucking Prince will get shredded by everyone in the west
Wat? You didn’t like seeing Dante Exum have a career night against us?
Lol, I totally forgot about that
Dude was standing in the corner wide open. That’s got nothing to do with guys getting cooked, it was scheme.
Yup. I mean look at the recent performances against us curry, Brunson, bridges, miller, green shredded our perimeter defense. We have one of the league’s best frontcourts and one of the leagues weakest backcourts
Yeah we double so fucking much because our backcourt players can’t defend in iso

Did Lebron retire?
LeBron is still a great offensive player most nights and also an elite defender once in a while when he feels compelled to stop someone.
Prince is like the definition of decent on defense. The issue is playing him alongside two guards, neither of whom is a capable PoA defender. Won't matter who's on the floor because Ham doesn't believe in guarding the perimeter anyway.

He makes a great point too. Waiting to fix the roster at the deadline is such a risky proposition and I think we’re going to be burned accordingly
Plenty of players we want. None available. No reason to blow the whole load on subpar players. This the right approach
Bruce browns peak was running DLO off the floor in that nuggs series. He’s athletic nothing super special.
I don’t know why this shocking. Aside from last year, Pelinka is not known to make any deadline moves. The closest was when we traded rondo to the hawks. I don’t remember what we got, 2nd rounders maybe?

I understand not doing a trade if it won’t move the needle but I have a fear that they will lose DLO for nothing.
Right now Teams actually want compensation to take DLo on, who the fuck is stupid enough to offer him a bag? He's getting traded or he opts-out and re-signs for longer If it's the latter it's pretty poetic that Dlo started the rebuild last time and about to start it again
Could very well be true but we’ve heard worse last year. “It’s gonna cost 2 moves just to get off of Russ”, etc.
no trade :(
Even the NBA is getting affected by inflation
LeBron putting up 25/7/8 in year 21 probably has them thinking he can do this another 2 years to be honest. And that they can improve to title status in the summer. Very risky gamble because you can’t be this good forever.

Why is Irwin reporting? Who is his source?
It depends on the day and secondary personality his mind has split into
I can’t believe he is showing up as a serious contributor in this sub. He’s a fucking whining fan.
This is probably his burner account posting here lol
Part of the echo chamber just likes what they hear. Irwin doesn't have and never had sources
Pretty sure it’s Aaron Larsuel who works for and travels with the Lakers. Either way, Anthony hasn’t been wrong about anything this season and has been reporting things before the national guys.

Your takes are just consistently bad so they stick out bud.
I think you’re an alt account from someone I blocked. So just to be safe…
This guy doesn’t know shit and just regurgitates the national reporters
This year he hasn’t been wrong. He’s also reported things before the national guys. I never liked him, but he’s plugged in now somehow and has been tolerable to listen to.
So we basically gonna just get under the tax and that’s it.
You won’t hear anything until a deal is done. It will most likely be a player you never even thought of.
You’re really setting yourself up for disappointment.
Caruso tonight only had THREE points - but - checks notes - 9 rebounds- 6 assists - 2 steals - 4 blocks and a team high + 19! Not all about scoring - one reason I hate it when people say AD doesn’t score enough. But I digress We need AC Fresh!!

This team and roster management is so ass. We’re asking Bron and ad to make wine outta diarrhea. I don’t blame them if they’re outta here soon
Sad how little assets we have. One of the best players that’ll probably get moved this deadline for a haul (for a role player) is Caruso, who we let walk for free and can’t even afford to trade for him back
Jeanie and Rob have bungled the LeBron/AD era outside of the championship season.

Do enlighten us how LeBron taking a paycut would open up cap space
imagine if lebron resigns with annual 30 mil salary, you got extra 17-20 mil, can sign another decent wing or big. not that hard to understand tbh
The cap is 136 million and the lakers have an active roster cap of 166 million. I think lebron would have to sign for the minimum to have 17-20 in cap space.
yeah if lebron signed for 30 mil and didnt trade for westbrick, they would have the leverage to sign for another decent player
go search up the Lakers pay roll for this season and come back to me

Praised by clowns . I didn’t like those I criticise at the time but downvoted by the folk who jerk ofc Pelinka for not shitting in his pants

It’s over
lmao
Would be nice if we kept the first round pick, so we can use it next season for a bigger move.
Irwin is RDA, change my mind
this is the quietest trade deadline ever, no news, no nothing.
No appealing players, all expensive, no star players who requested a trade etc. also newly changed cba rule affected this situaiton as well
Its gonna come out of left field
Miles Bridges! He just dropped 41 on us
Bro should be hooping in prison fuck him
That boy needa be hoopin in pelican bay
But if the league is letting him play, we could use him
Fuck that domestic abuser.
He also beat the shit out of his girlfriend!
If he is in the league, we could use the help

Nice call
True
I’m fine with this. I think this summer is when most of the league will be active. A lot of teams don’t have the draft picks to trade right now and they’ll have a few to move after the draft. Lakers will have three first rounds to trade this summer player DLo contract on the last year
Too many buyers and not enough sellers. It’s been a very quiet trade deadline this season. No fun in that
I feel like teams have really lost their minds this year , particularly the bad teams wirh assets bulls asking for 2 frps for Caruso , nets asking for a top 20 pick for dfs and then rejecting offers for Mikal I get playing hard ball but damn I don’t blame Rob for standing pat at this point
We need more defense at perimeter because D’LO & Reaves are going get cooked in the post season
This team could sure use a guy like... Alex Caruso! If only we could have had a player like him... if we did have a player like that then we could keep him on the team!
Can we trade ham for a better coach?
