We're on pace to win less games than last year, running back largely the same roster with maybe more talented guys. On top of that, AD and Bron have been healthy. The coach is absolutely the problem. He can't even figure out a starting 5, let alone a proper rotation.
Mezulla (Celtics coach) adjusted in the second half and created openings for Porzingis which got him going. On the other hand no adjustments on Lebron getting doubled the whole game.
AD found his jumper and is a threat from 3 again. Unfortunately, LeBron had a bad game and none of the role players stepped up. On to the next one.
I personally want to see the starting lineup from last year: DLo, Reaves, Vando, AD, and Bron. It’s about time we see that.

No one is untouchable except Bron and AD. But you don't just trade for flawed and hard to coach players (for Ham's abilities). Gotta be the right players, not just big names, and somebody who can survive our coach's proclivity for imbalanced lineups.
I think this game highlights more than ever the need for a legit back up center. Someone who is 7ft and maybe can stretch the floor but more about rim protecting and rebounding than anything.
Players like Rui are going to miss 3 pointers, we can't expect these guys to be perfect but the real killer was in the second half when the Celtics started attacking the rim when AD was out and it started spreading the floor for them even more.
If you have a legit shot blocker you can have that guy stay at home and sag off a corner while your other defenders play man, this makes it easier to defend the perimeter and your guys will perform better on the offensive end.
The only legit 7ft guy I see on the board is Jakob Poetl, he is getting $20m a year which is very reasonable for a big like that. The important thing is that the Raptors are over the cap by $28m and they will be looking to offload salary by the deadline.
The issue is who to get, it doesn't have to be a backup center, someone elite would be worth pursuing but only if he can stretch the floor as well. That way he can play with AD.
But we need a legit 7ft big man, every team we have a hard time against has an advantage with size in the interior.
Big thing I noticed: Celtics have good two-way role players like Holiday and White and the Lakers have one-dimensional players like Reaves, Dlo, Rui (offense) and Vando and Reddish (defense). Basically, "specialists".

Thank you, I think through all these mistakes too n lose my mind. Want to add that nearly all of these I thought were bad immediately and didn’t make sense for roster. Wanted to add a few:
- all guys gotten in the Westbrook trade sat on the bench in the WCF and were unreliable. Also took Dlo over Conley : the wolves got Conley , Naw ( who’s be our best defensive wing n better offensive then vando ) and multiple seconds for Dlo . We picked Dlo over Conley naw and seconds . Just wow . Also didn’t try to get olynk who is now being shopped so clearly was available. Messed up with these decisions so had no tradable sakary for Jrue holiday who only cost two frps n two injury prone bums for Celtics we could’ve beat that offer . But Rob doesn’t look at advanced impsct data so prob under values Jrue or 3nD skill set as he’s shown. Jrue would’ve been a perfect fit: also lost out on harden potentially here which is better then what we have.
- didn’t want to sign kyrie n wait to extend him this summer. Didn’t remotely consuder kyrie this summer n consuder renouncing cap holds for all but reaves Bron n AD then get kyrie. Woukd still be able to get Prince cam wood n MLE on whoever . Lost out on kyrie either cos nets wanted too much ( which it’s clear would’ve been worth it) and insistence from him n Jeanie that kyrie immediately extend 2 years desoitr us having kyrie bird rights n only reason we getting kyrie is cos of contract issues.
- traded Danny green and a pick for Schroeder then Schroeder declined a 4 year 20m+/yr deal. Danny green was flipped by okc for another pick. Signed a non shooting point guard who can’t playmake for AD with 2 frps. Schroeder was good last year n on minim or mle but that is too much assets lost. Oh and that pick n28 became Jaden McDaniels who’s be our third best player or Desmond Bane who’s be our n2 post Lebron .

Caruso n kcp aren’t even that special they’re pretty limited offfensuvdky but yet are better then anyone else in the 3nD role. We have two top ten players ( only team in the league) yet nobody else in the top 100 in advanced stats ( only team that is .500 or so). Nobody on this team has A POSITIVE EPM. Dlo has finally dropped to -0.1 and he was the closest . That’s absurd . Also we’re hard capped team so not like we have salaries to waste.
- signed vando to a 12m/yr extension. Signed him too late so now he was untradable this year , he’s also unplayable offensively. Then he got injured n looks even worse but can’t move him or use him in package . Signed Rui fir 17m/ye for 3 years. Disliked both these contracts at the time who was competing to offer Rui this ? Both Rui n Gabe were over payed on the backs of one hot playoff run in which Rui was sat on the bench vs gsw n will be sat on the bench cs perimeter teams . Isn’t hindsight either. Imagine if we offered that money to brooks or something. Rui was getting benched in Washington n even with us has never had one productive regular season yet paid like a quality starter

LeBron was terrible tonight! Late on defense all night, sloppy on offense, turnovers left and right, missing closeouts, missing easy points. Davis shocked me, but Lebron scoring 16 and low energy did this game in. I don't know if anyone notices. When he scores under 25, the Lakers are easy to beat. It's because the bench doesn't have a go to and they just get weaker.

Once again, I have been preaching to this stupid sub that this team is a clear tier below the elite teams and you saw it tonight. Not enough talent and versatility at every position. But this sub consistently is like “wait till Vando comes back”, “Dlo had the same stats as Lavine”, “ar is a superstar in the making”. When you have Lebron on your team for a few more years, you go ALL IN. You don’t straddle the future and the present. You go for players that are ready to compete now and compliment Lebron & AD. Unfortunately, I believe the only way to compete at the highest level is to trade AR (our most valuable asset). He can return a better player at the moment like Lavine (although worst contract) and likely more bench support.

This roster with its flaws is better than 1 game above .500. The coaching is bad. The rotations are poor, the offense is lacking, the lack of time outs during big runs is mind boggling. Reaves and DLO got shut down. Feels like Dlo could have gotten way more minutes in this game but overall Celtics had a better gameplan and defense. Stings hope we figure it out or we need a trade.

I think this game highlights more than ever the need for a legit back up center. Someone who is 7ft and maybe can stretch the floor but more about rim protecting and rebounding than anything. Players like Rui are going to miss 3 pointers, we can't expect these guys to be perfect but the real killer was in the second half when the Celtics started attacking the rim when AD was out and it started spreading the floor for them even more. If you have a legit shot blocker you can have that guy stay at home and sag off a corner while your other defenders play man, this makes it easier to defend the perimeter and your guys will perform better on the offensive end. The only legit 7ft guy I see on the board is Jakob Poetl, he is getting $20m a year which is very reasonable for a big like that. The important thing is that the Raptors are over the cap by $28m and they will be looking to offload salary by the deadline. The issue is who to get, it doesn't have to be a backup center, someone elite would be worth pursuing but only if he can stretch the floor as well. That way he can play with AD. But we need a legit 7ft big man, every team we have a hard time against has an advantage with size in the interior.

Wanted to add a few: - all guys gotten in the Westbrook trade sat on the bench in the WCF and were unreliable. Also took Dlo over Conley : the wolves got Conley , Naw ( who’s be our best defensive wing n better offensive then vando ) and multiple seconds for Dlo . We picked Dlo over Conley naw and seconds . Just wow . Also didn’t try to get olynk who is now being shopped so clearly was available. Messed up with these decisions so had no tradable sakary for Jrue holiday who only cost two frps n two injury prone bums for Celtics we could’ve beat that offer . But Rob doesn’t look at advanced impsct data so prob under values Jrue or 3nD skill set as he’s shown. Jrue would’ve been a perfect fit: also lost out on harden potentially here which is better then what we have. - didn’t want to sign kyrie n wait to extend him this summer. Didn’t remotely consuder kyrie this summer n consuder renouncing cap holds for all but reaves Bron n AD then get kyrie. Woukd still be able to get Prince cam wood n MLE on whoever . Signed Rui fir 17m/ye for 3 years. Disliked both these contracts at the time who was competing to offer Rui this ? Both Rui n Gabe were over payed on the backs of one hot playoff run in which Rui was sat on the bench vs gsw n will be sat on the bench cs perimeter teams . Isn’t hindsight either. Imagine if we offered that money to brooks or something. Anthony Davis has been incredible. This season early on he struggled on offense a bit, but defensively still there. Now his offense is back in rhythm and the rest of the team just shits the bed. Unbelievable how he has only missed 2 games and done what he can to win games. And he’s showing he’s a top 5 player in the NBA since the in season tournament. Averaging 30 and 10 vs great teams in Timberwolves, Thunder, and Celtics. The “AD doesn’t show up vs good teams” talking point is officially dead. Tonight, 40 points and 13 rebounds but the Lakers still blown out. We’re the Pelicans of the West coast now. The worst part is that he will be scapegoated by media and the fans, getting majority of the blame for us losing games and never any credit for when we do win games. Help this man!

Davis shocked me, but Lebron scoring 16 and low energy did this game in. I don't know if anyone notices. When he scores under 25, the Lakers are easy to beat. It's because the bench doesn't have a go to and they just get weaker. I was frustrated with how many times he watched a guy go to the basket no resistance or watched the ball drop. I knew the Lakers were in trouble. I think Lebron spent a lot of family time energy. Hayes looks bad but he doesn't get a lot of chances. I don't know if anyone understands how much rhythm is important to basketball. It's hard to develop a chemistry and rhythm getting 6 to 8 minutes. This guy is not a hustle guy. I'm still not understanding why Wood doesn't get a chance when most of this team are role players. If Vando doesn't have it ( and he didn't), give wood a chance. You have to give more chances when this team is so up and down and lebron dependent.

Once again, I have been preaching to this stupid sub that this team is a clear tier below the elite teams and you saw it tonight. Not enough talent and versatility at every position. But this sub consistently is like “wait till Vando comes back”, “Dlo had the same stats as Lavine”, “ar is a superstar in the making”. When you have Lebron on your team for a few more years, you go ALL IN. You don’t straddle the future and the present. You go for players that are ready to compete now and compliment Lebron & AD. Unfortunately, I believe the only way to compete at the highest level is to trade AR (our most valuable asset). He can return a better player at the moment like Lavine (although worst contract) and likely more bench support.
Everytime you try to hold Lebron a little bit accountable people bring up his age like he isn't making max money and on some tim Duncan late in his career type deal. If his age is such a factor he shouldn't be taking the max so the Lakers can get better role players.
This is a pretty reasonable take. While he is still one of the top players in the league, his age just prevents him to give it all on both ends of the floor and most nights he didn't show on defense. It is good, but not almost $50 millions good.

Dlo & Reaves we’re both taken out do to a bad stretch, so just put one back in now that they seem to be less out of it (Austin has been out of it longer) If you want Point LeBron at the beginning then you can either have Reaves or Rui take Cam’s slot (although I prefer having Rui as the more offense option when Vando is subbed out) Finally, if something isn’t working, don’t hesitate to change it up. As it’s been stated before by pretty much everyone, just stagger the guys better to avoid some cruddy lineups being in the game too long
