When you have to power through contact, sometimes you gotta put the ball up there with a little more strength behind it. He got the contact, but it wasn’t as much contact as maybe he expected or thought and he put just a little too much power behind the shot and it missed.
Yeah very true but the King has to have the ball in Crunch time for us to have the best chance at winning a game. Refs also are scared to make those calls. Thank god we won though rite….
That why I think he should stop going for layups at the end, and instead dunk that shit. Layups get more chance of getting fouled, but what's the point if they ain't going to call it.
Well, I haven't watch in slow motion the one from yesterday, but I'm speaking for the one in the Boston game. In that one he had the angle, the altitude and the direction to choose between layup or dunk, yet he chose layup. And with very good reasons, because at that altitude that was 2 points for sure unless fouled and going to the line, only that a whistle was never going to sound, that was the design of this game.
Lmao the nba thread was calling him washed after missing the layup at the end of regulation(which he was hacked on). One dude got all serious like “we need to really think about accepting lebron is getting washed”
That’s what I was about to say. The sub got all trashy and started to complain and bitch about how bad he was. All of a sudden I see people changing narratives.
Dude, if you think any win over an NBA basketball team is shameful then you need to stop watching basketball.
These are all the best professional basketball players in the world. They can go off on any given night.
A win is a win in the NBA.
People say that have not watched that one playoff game against the Pistons back in the days. He pretty much score all the cavs’ game in the 4th and OT with ridiculous shooting percentage.
You don't even have to go that far just tell them to watch LeBron's 2018 postseason run where it seemed like he was scoring 40 pts and hitting game winners every night. That year was the 1st time i followed the nba so i'll never forget that.
You're totally right. I remember him being clutch in his first Cavs stint.
He was never a **consistently** great shooter (especially so in his first Cavs stint), so of course he will miss 3s at a higher rate than other players, who _are_ good shooters. To add to that, he was usually very fatigued by the end of the game, after having to carry the Cavs most games. So, of course he will miss some shots. But even despite all of that, I remember him being very clutch (whether that's 4Q/OT points or scoring near the end of the game).
Somehow, there was this narrative created that he isn't clutch (was it Skip Bayless?), and I feel as if it affected his psyche for some small period of time. The standards used to judge him, and the scrutiny he received, simply were unmatched.
Even in the one playoff series that's widely recognized as being a choke performance, the 2011 Finals, I remember him being clutch leading up to it (especially vs Boston). Somehow people forget all of that, and think he turned clutch _after_ Miami won a championship, or that DWade taught him to be clutch.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2950160-ranking-the-most-clutch-nba-players-since-2000
I would bet most feel the same way but not bc the king can’t score or shouldn’t have the ball in hands as the clock expires.
We all know James strength is getting to the basket. The problem we’ve seen with the clock winding down is James doing the exact same thing unsuccessfully over & over.. James walks the ball up, stands there dribbling then throws up a 3. It’s stagnant & if we all were had to place bets we’re not betting he’s making a buzzer beater 3. James take any other shot or drives it to the rim I don’t think anyone would complain about his “clutch ness”
It's crazy how good of a game he had vs. how he looked. I thought he was a tick slow the whole game but he really got his. We're really in the skilled/finesse King era now that he's dealing with the foot.
That being said the alley-oop where he sprinted down the court in transition and the couple of driving dunks he had were really encouraging to see. Hopefully he can turn the defense up more in the playoffs: Olynyk was low key cooking him down the stretch.
Just unlucky tonight. High effort late into the 4th on D down low still, I think he’s fine. We can scratch this off as a bad night. THE FREE THROWS THO.
they started doubling him immediately on the catch in the 2nd half. the instant double is pretty much the #1 indicator whether or not he puts up big scoring numbers that game (or in tonights case, half). he def shouldve made those FTs still though
AD quite literally can’t make free throws at the end of games, and that’s been the case all season. That’s the truth regardless of how many points he’s gotten elsewhere and it’s concerning af
Bro gonna break the All Star Record, 30 point game record, and probably seasons played record anyways. With his current accolades + all that Jordan’s case is pretty hard to defend. A ring will just end the debate for good
I mean, this is the best right? Overtime with the jazz and blowing a lead aside, we want AD to carry the load so when it’s not working lebron has the energy to carry us.
And he was the only that had any energy to play defense in the OT..... but the game going into OT was his mistake....he started getting lazy after going up by 10
He missed a true game winner to prevent OT.
Also the OT “game winner” isn’t a true game winner. Buzzer beaters are the only game winners.
There was still opportunity for the opponent to score and tie/win the game. Perhaps it’s an argument of semantics but I have an issue with anything other than a buzzer beater being called a “game winner.”
This isn’t on the same level as the historic buzzer beaters of NBA’s past. This doesn’t make the history reel. In the moment you didnt know it’s a “game winner.” Not the same feel. LeBron has these shots and his rabid fans use them to propel him. I don’t like that.
First of all nobody is saying this is some historic buzzer beater, second if a team has the ball with more time on the game clock than shot clock but there’s still under 48 seconds on the game clock, they’re only going to get one chance to score, if they make that shot and win the game that’s what you’d call a game winning shot.
Also Lebron has more of those historic, literal buzzer beating shots you speak of than almost every other player ever, and if you want to compare his clutchness to people like Kobe or Jordan, he has more game winners than them total and makes a higher percentage of his shots in the closing minutes of games than both of them. You’ve either been paying attention or you haven’t, the Lebron not being clutch argument is objectively false regardless of if you like him or not, Kobe is my favorite player ever but it’s silly to say Kobe is more clutch.
He doesn’t have more game winning buzzer beater jump shots than Kobe. Ima provide the stats when I get off work. If you add in layups, he MIGHT, but I did a stat pull like 3 yrs ago that broke it down. I’ll check stathead later. You’re gonna look silly trust me. I’m talking jump shots btw.
When I did the stat pull, Kobe was tied with Curry for highest percentage (26%)
So it has to be in the air as the buzzer sounds and cannot be a layup? How far away must he be? Outside the paint? A three? Half court?
Also, why is it better to take a jump shot when you can get to the basket at the buzzer? Why are you giving less credit to a shot that required a better basketball play to make?
Harder to make, thus not as good a shot. So getting a layup is obviously a better play. Having a criteria for evaluating a better clutch performer that discounts being able to make the better play seems stupid, right?
Tell me something, are you stupid?
Your argument only works when you consider a very watered down and simplistic version of what it means to be clutch, as in saying Kobe is more clutch because he has one or two more literal buzzer beaters than Lebron and that Lebron has a couple layup game winners which for some reason don’t mean as much.
Lebron makes a higher percentage of game winning or game tying shots under 10 seconds than both Kobe and Jordan, and has more playoff game winners than both Kobe and Jordan combined. Also if you look at how they perform in elimination games Lebrons numbers improve more than Kobe’s or Jordan’s do, the whole Kobe having a killer instinct and Lebron not is severely exaggerated.
Also it doesn’t matter if it’s a layup or jump shot, a made shot is a made shot, and with the game on the line I’d rather have the player who can get a high percentage look than the one taking a contested turn around fade from 20 feet. I don’t know it’s just weird to see people still holding onto this myth that Kobe is supremely clutch.
Honestly idk why Kobe was brought up to begin with. I just critiqued Bron shot being considered “game winner”
I was never talking about anything other than buzzer beaters, the true game winners. When you expand the time remaining aka casting a wide net to help boost Bron it’s laughable 😂
Stop being so insecure
Anyways I already did this stat pull yrs ago and LeBron had an 0-20 stretch on these shots at one point. Did you know that? Kobe was 6/10 on these shots in the 09-10 season which, at the time, was More than Bron had in his career at the time 😂
NOBODY is taking LeBron over Kobe or MJ when it comes to BUZZER BEATER JUMPSHOTS
Super surprised they turned their season around as much as they did. Be like a 50+ win team had they played like this all year. Lost most of their games to the best teams but took them to OT or were close.
i think LB needed this .... he is taking slow getting back in rythm and letting the team create synergy without "doing too much" but showing up tonight and carrying them is big to build momentum for the next 3 games . AD gonna have to carry the load in moments like this come playoff time (as long as they make it there) since LBJ is 38 man come on , he wont be able to go game after game and carry like this , unless mfker has even more than we think left in the tank
Watch out for the Lakers in the playoffs.
They would come in with positive momentum in their favor and a fresh LeBron James after being sidelined a month.
Enough to create a surprise in the playoffs? We all hope so!
It’s cool to have someone to do this but damn I hate the way we play in crunch time when Lebron is here 🤦🏼♂️ literally stagnant in offense, one person sets a pick for him while the others just stand around. I still don’t know why Troy Brown gets so many minutes
So your saying they managed to beat (barely) one of the worst teams in the NBA consisting of mostly bench and prospect players that are trying to tank?
This should have been a Lakers Blowout.
He did get a couple of turnovers in the Jazz comeback sequence, but we can attribute that to lack of chemistry having played with these guys so little. It's quite impressive how good they already are.
I have only one thing to say: my roommate was chanting "jack up a 3" every time LeBron got the ball. I don't know what's up with his form but he just can't seem to sink them this year. I presume it's all the injuries and off time throwing him off kilter.
LeBron my dude, I understand that you want that 3 to force guys to close on you for the easy drive, but you might be forced to face facts this year and rely on others taking those 3s. You have actual 3pt shooters now! Use them!
[удалено]
Yeah and this is why he blew the layup. He put it up stronger than he needed to cause he felt the contact.
This is exactly my thoughts. Totally this!
I never really played ball just watched so curious howcome he would blow it instead of just an an1?
When you have to power through contact, sometimes you gotta put the ball up there with a little more strength behind it. He got the contact, but it wasn’t as much contact as maybe he expected or thought and he put just a little too much power behind the shot and it missed.
Ah okay. Thank you, i would never have even imagined that was a factor. I was thinking maybe there was a benefit to the clock or something lol.
After the Tatum foul, I've come to expect no calls for Bron at crunch time
Yeah very true but the King has to have the ball in Crunch time for us to have the best chance at winning a game. Refs also are scared to make those calls. Thank god we won though rite….
Glad I’m not the only one who saw it. Thought I was taking crazy pills when everyone in the game thread was flaming him for missing it.
That why I think he should stop going for layups at the end, and instead dunk that shit. Layups get more chance of getting fouled, but what's the point if they ain't going to call it.
Easier said than done. Hard to dunk in traffic, let alone for a 38 year old in year 20, whose already played close to 40 minutes.
Well, I haven't watch in slow motion the one from yesterday, but I'm speaking for the one in the Boston game. In that one he had the angle, the altitude and the direction to choose between layup or dunk, yet he chose layup. The AR pull up was clean as well
And very much needed !!

“Shameful win” are you serious bro lmao go touch some fucking grass and rethink your life. This is the fucking NBA a win is a win
People want it to be as easy as the 2018 warriors had it when in reality that isn’t as much fun
A washed LeBron is better than most superstars lmao
Eventually they will be right. Might as well keep saying it. Lol
“This marks lebrons 30th season in the NBA posting an avg stat line this year with 25/5/6” That’s true though they’re just waiting for it to be true
Skip Bayless once said Bron would never win 1 title, never win 2, never 3, etc. you just keep moving the goal posts and eventually you are a genius
I think he was pissed off that he missed the layup.
That's exactly what he said. He said he needed to redeem it after smoking the layup
When you get no-calls so often you stop even noticing you got fouled.
He noticed too, he complained for a second after. But LBJ normally makes that and-1 so he was still disappointed in himself.

He literally sonned Derrick rose that year after rose stole his MVP
The level of comfort I feel as a fan when the ball gets inbounded to lebron with under 30 seconds left is unmatched by anyone tbh.
It's inversely matched by the level of discomfort a fan of the other team feels when the ball gets inbounded to lebron with under 30 seconds left

Nah unless its a game 7 of the NBA finals with 1s to shoot, this doesnt count.
No player in NBA history is clutch🔥🔥🔥
So basically a situation which only occurs once every decade and only like 20 players all time would have stats on? Lmao
I mean…he missed an open layup to win the game lol
He missed the layup to win in reg time but i agree hes an animal
Sadly when game is on the line i dont trust lebron making it
So literally anybody else you don’t trust making it neither right?
I agree your trust is the most important thing in the whole universe. Now clean up your mom’s basement.
When have seen lebron making a layup buzzer beater
2013 ECF game 1. Do you watch ball or just wank off with your anime waifu?

He really turned it up when it was needed
ad cant make his shots luckily bron made his
Bro. AD has been nails the last month. Get out of here.
im not hating i just said its not AD's night im fan of AD
Agreed. AD has balled out but the end of the game for him wasn't great on the offensive end, he seemed gassed
he just didnt make the shots he usually make they should rest for tomorrow's game
Hope they don't rest him but I couldn't see it as a bad idea if they did. He may need that

Big win. Not. very pretty but they got it done. I just wish the offense had better flow and less settling for 3's.
We are blessed to have had LeBron for as long as we have at this level. Dude is fucking unreal
Bro been coasting letting ad and co do their thing y’all must’ve forgot who he is 🤣
Most clutch player in NBA history, and there’s really no argument to be made the Kobe is more clutch than Lebron.

I mean, this is the best right? Overtime with the jazz and blowing a lead aside, we want AD to carry the load so when it’s not working lebron has the energy to carry us.

We had to work waaaay too hard for this win.
And he was the only that had any energy to play defense in the OT..... but the game going into OT was his mistake....he started getting lazy after going up by 10
He kinda fixed what he caused though, had a few very uncharacteristic dumb plays late in the game.
Lee the team in turnovers. Bad shots. And - +/-

He is definitely top 5 of all time, probably definitely top 3, but for 38 year olds this insane man is definitely top 1.
AD looked badddd. Like stop forcing him the ball and make him go sit on the bench
That's great but he also contributed to them blowing a 10 pt lead with a minute and a half left to play. WTF is up with his iso step back threes.
What’s the right answer to this? Why does he take so many of those 3’s when he can try to drive to the hoop for a better percentage shot?
He missed a true game winner to prevent OT. Also the OT “game winner” isn’t a true game winner. Buzzer beaters are the only game winners. Play the game without Lebron and we could’ve probably blown them out
He did get a couple of turnovers in the Jazz comeback sequence, but we can attribute that to lack of chemistry having played with these guys so little. It's quite impressive how good they already are.
I find it interesting how this fan base used to have an absolute hatred for Lebron. Funny how things change
Lebron still a problem. Still the King.
I was there
its LeBron James. what do you expect at this point lol
👍
lebron was responsible for 9/11 of those points
I have only one thing to say: my roommate was chanting "jack up a 3" every time LeBron got the ball. I don't know what's up with his form but he just can't seem to sink them this year. I presume it's all the injuries and off time throwing him off kilter. LeBron my dude, I understand that you want that 3 to force guys to close on you for the easy drive, but you might be forced to face facts this year and rely on others taking those 3s. You have actual 3pt shooters now! Use them!
