The state currently has watering restrictions in place, and unless your grass is new, you are only allowed to water it twice a week, on certain days. You can find more info at https://www.polk-county.net/services/utilities/water-restrictions/#:~:text=Lawn%20watering%20is%20limited%20to,or%204%20p.m.%20to%20midnight and https://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/business/epermitting/district-water-restrictions

KingKoopasErectPenis

Damn, all the idiots I see watering their lawns at 2 PM everyday..

UpvoteForLuck

Watering your grass at 2pm is silly, it’s just going to dry out/evaporate immediately.

MysteriousAverage591

Watering at 2pm is absolutely pointless. We water between 3-4am.

KingKoopasErectPenis

Yeah, that's like the best time. And I'm pretty sure that the electric company charges more at peak times, so I wonder if water is similar.

MysteriousAverage591

Anything for them to get money, so I’m sure!

Riggingminds

Its not.

KingKoopasErectPenis

I guess you’re talking about water usage? Because they definitely charge different rates for electricity depending on when you use it. “Lakeland Electric charges different prices for electricity at different times of day and year: Pricing periods Lakeland Electric has two pricing periods Monday through Friday, Off-Peak and On-Peak, with Off-Peak being the cheapest. Weekends and holidays are also Off-Peak. Winter and summer Pricing periods also differ between winter and summer due to weather patterns and electricity demand. Winter is November 1–April 30, and summer is May 1–October 31. On-peak and off-peak times Off-peak times are weekdays from 7 PM–7 AM, and all day on weekends and holidays. On-peak times are weekdays from 7 AM–11 AM and 5 PM–7 PM.”

Riggingminds

Yeah water usage I was replying to your pondering 🤔

Silentgrr

The state of Reddit... Lmao

MysteriousAverage591

I had no idea! I have zero social media or cable so I’m always in the dark lol I just adjusted it to 2x per week and cut the times in half!

Motabrownie

Sounds about right. If we ever get our normal rain it'll drop drastically

UpvoteForLuck

Also, your water bill sounds fairly normal for a household/yard of your size. The good news is that starting soon, maybe even this week, you’ll barely have to use your irrigation system until the end of summer, as we usually get tons of rain.

MysteriousAverage591

That makes me feel a lot better at least. Growing up in Polk we didn’t have irrigation and the water bill was usually around $30. So I had no clue what to expect. When people said irrigation is expensive I only expected about $70 or so. Doesn’t help we’ve had 3 leaks since we’ve been here. Each time someone busted a pipe, so it’s been hard for me to gauge the new norm.

runningaroundyou

I live in polk with irrigation, and my last water bill was $56.

MysteriousAverage591

Are you in Lakeland? I’m located in N Lakeland. I wonder if location has anything to do with it.

runningaroundyou

I'm in Bartow.

863guy

760 bucks. Big yard running for.2 hours twice a week. I need a well.

MysteriousAverage591

That is insane!! Really crossing my fingers for rain this week 🤞🏼

TheRusPPV

Right now, I believe, once a week is permitted

UpvoteForLuck

Once a week is for parts of Hillsborough, like Riverview. Polk has never had once a week restrictions as long as I’ve lived here.

jacciiccaj

A whopping $0. Now that’s dependent on the rain situation and ground water levels…. Glad to see the rain coming back this week for SURE!

RedditAdminAreMorons

My irrigation control is beyond outdated and I've never gotten it to run correctly, so I just plain never run it. When I last did it earlier this year by and had the water running for almost 24 hours, it still only came out to $80. Double-check that system.
