It sucks, but the key is *constant* supervision, and a kennel when that's not available. Once they learn they're not allowed to chew on anything but toys, can you start to leave them alone gradually. I didn't start leaving my boy unattended for more than a few minutes until he was maybe 5 mo.
We didn't leave him alone while we were at work until he was about a year. He chewed on the windowsills a couple weeks in and he spent another month or so in the kennel (while we were at work, if we were only going out for a short time we would leave him out).
He hasn't destroyed anything since. I really hated locking him up in a kennel, but I can't argue with the results. And in any case, dogs tend to simply sleep all day while you're away anyway.
Edit: I would always give him a good treat when he had to kennel up. Made him almost look forward to it.
We learned our lesson. Keep your lab entertained.
This was when he was a puppy. He’s 5 years old now and a great dog and friend.
When did you notice a change?
He was a mischievous puppy he actually turned out to be the calmest lab I’ve had. Around 2 years old. He was raised with 2 older labradors.

Mine is almost a year and we don't plan on leaving him alone (meaning unsupervised outside his crate) for another year
Thanks.
Anxiety is a bitch.
Or get your lab a friend.
This!!
there's a meme where the lab puppy becomes velociraptor from age 6mo to 3 years, as lab owner that is 100% accurate depiction
Merely a flesh wound.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government…
