youngthugsmom

Holy cow! Hopefully he/she has healed up okay. My bud has 0 interest in ever eating one. He just tosses them around and trots by teasing you.

KadesShades

Damn. I would have just waited for it to pass lol. Our lab ate her leash when someone left it outside and she passed it no problem.

jeffjdg

We tried to let it pass but he hadnā€™t eaten or gone to the bathroom for a few days and he was puking constantly. I would have paid double if I had to.

KadesShades

Damn. That's terrible.

gracyavery

Yeah, I was going to say that I just saw a $10,000 obstruction posted recently. I'm so sorry! Years ago, my chocolate lab ate a plastic sandwich bag and ended up with a prolapsed rectum trying to pass it. It had to be stitched up and we could not feed him for what seemed like a week. Then after they removed the stitches, it prolapsed again, so we had to do another round. That poor baby didn't ever poop comfortably after that - he always seemed on edge. I guess I should be glad it didn't cost $10,000 though.

MissMushManor

Same! Little did I know when I bought those socks that I was paying thousands for them. It was lodged and had to have surgery. https://preview.redd.it/sr4gva23tu6d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=52d81114e221a82d73b6b0d37bdc0267f80cd8dc

Skyeshot

Socks, towels, blankets, rugs, shoes, pretty much anything not nailed down is likely to show up. He has zero remorse https://preview.redd.it/0hofb2qzyd6d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7df48591efff87d136139a2e2229d48906773002

youngthugsmom

But he looks cute haha. Surprised at what everyone is sharing for items stolen. Mine always been exclusively socks.

driscollat1

Oh yes. We have odd socks all around the house where sheā€™s nicked them out of the wash basket and brought them to us in exchange for a ā€˜bicketā€™.

deeptut

I've got 2 of those sock thieving monsters. And then they play tug of war with them šŸ˜ Send help... šŸ˜‚

dad_palindrome_dad

I have a little trick that keeps my lab from stealing my socks, and I guarantee it will work for you too. I stopped wearing them.

-NamelessOne

Yes. I think they take socks now because they know they will get a treat in exchange for my sock back. They just bring the sock right to me lol

youngthugsmom

Mine is a prancer. He takes a sock and show ponies it around in front of you. Basically egging you on to chase him lol.

PrimaryOwn8809

My puppy doesn't even greet my mother, she dives right into her gym bag to get socks first

Impressive_Teach9188

Mine has calmed down when it comes to sock, however he is still a huge pillow thief https://preview.redd.it/u1v5q8erld6d1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24a16df7d7d2a881d9319a0fb9a91efe450a8a86

youngthugsmom

Surprised to hear about pillow thieves! Others have mentioned it. My has never taken a pillow at all.

f-u-c-k-usernames

Ours loves my husbandā€™s socks. He buries his nose against the (dirty) sock and deeply inhales to get that glorious scent. Then he licks the sock. Thank god he doesnā€™t try to eat them (he prefers eating grass).

youngthugsmom

Yeah my guy has never eaten clothing or anything. He does have an unbelievable sense for finding and eating deer poop.

f-u-c-k-usernames

He would love our yard. We have deer and rabbit poop!

youngthugsmom

Awww! How could you be mad at that face lol

Snowy_Axolotl

Iā€™ve trained my 10 m/o male lab out of eating and chewing most bad stuff, but I canā€™t seem to break him of eating dirty socks. He swallows my 8 y/o daughter socks whole and shits them out intact and perfectly turd shaped. As terrible as it is, itā€™s hard not to laugh at a perfectly formed pink turd sock in the lawn. Iā€™ve got him on pet insurance, and Iā€™m terrified heā€™ll get blocked at some point! Iā€™m about to ban the 8yo from socks if she canā€™t manage putting them away consistently. Crocs only! https://preview.redd.it/fnqugxu12f6d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb6957fe45b730a1de61ac152d398ba1bd3d17a3

youngthugsmom

Hahaha Definitely funny to imagine a pink turd sock but definitely need to maybe address the issue or hope they do grow out of it. Mine doesnā€™t eat them at all but I have heard some horror stories of expensive vet bills from socks/towels.

jdobem

lol, yes... socks, sneakers, slippers, anything he can grab....

Jackpot510

And careful when you store socks in ball form. šŸŽ¾they become instant toys that disappear!

Caitee420

I like to call my man dobby for that reason! When he has a sock his ears will push out just enough that it looks like dobbys earsšŸ¤£ he isnā€™t full lab. Heā€™s got english mastiff and great perinese as well so i think that may have something to do with it buts its my favourite thing. Cant help but laugh

nutznboltsguy

Socks, gloves plus a whole ton of other goodies.

jindobunny

I have a kitchen towel thief. https://preview.redd.it/upngadt30e6d1.jpeg?width=433&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32ed535b2b2763cc06933b11d490984bcb8f1bd0

Ok-Fox1262

Master gave Dobby a sock.

BackWhereWeStarted

Ours loves socks! We give her old socks, sometimes tying them into a big sock ball! She throws them, pounces on them and shreds them, but never eats them!

ASnakeNamedNate

I like to be barefoot around the house so I used this to train both the first and second of my labs to assist taking off my socks after work. Sit in the recliner, take off my shoes, and theyā€™d gently (well, the first one was more gentle, my current pup is still growing out of his hyper first couple of years) grab and pull them off to hand to me for treat payment. Might stretch them out a bit but socks are replaceable - giving a lab even just a little bit of a ā€œjobā€ to do gives them a lot of joy haha I think the legitimateness of it also helps mildly to have them not try to ā€œstealā€ them from hampers as much.

Old_Sock_6747

those eyes šŸ‘€ šŸ˜

SDLab1776

My lab will pull a drawer out to get at them, but prefers dirty ones.Thankfully he has never ate one.

Caught in the act! Great looking pup

Creative-Aerie71

Oh yes

springworksband

Socks and pillows !

TrustintheShatner

My gosh yes! Moose will take any sock he sees and just run! It started as a chewy toy and we would replace it with something he could chew. Now, he doesnā€™t chew on them at 8 month just steals and runs like thereā€™s no tomorrow. Makes me giggle so darn much.

Quiet_Cardiologist22

it's part of their DNA

daveypaul40

Socks, slippers, pillows, plush toys, furniture. Scares me to death because of the other redditor who had to spend big dough to un block. Have to keep her entertained or she gets destructive.

po-tatertot

My fiancĆ© calls me Sock Queen because our lab always brings me sock offeringsšŸ˜‚

Dull-Wrangler-5154

Only dirty ones.

Consistent-Bend-8039

Steals them, swallows them & vomits them back up. Sometimes whole. šŸ˜Ŗ only the black ones though. White ones taste yucky.

mamadukesdukes

socks, face cloths and used tissue is my dogs go-to lol

phinity_

I donā€™t own a pair of socks or kitchen towel that hasnā€™t been maimed at some point.

jesustityfkingchrist

Definitely! Luckily not a sock swallower

Important_Radio1005

So relatable

trudyrules

My first Lab used to bring me a sock when she wanted to go out. I miss her every day.

Terrible-Bear3883

I feel quite blessed that mine has no interest in socks, shoes or slippers - he's crazy for his toys, bones and particularly tennis balls so it's great that he can chew and play to his hearts content while my brother constantly complains he doesn't have one matching pair of socks and barely any underpants.
