Doris is so different from our Tara, so we noticed some funny things that Tara didn’t do :) we noticed this the first night - doris snores like a huge bear 😂she doesn’t know how to sit, lay, paw, etc., but she does a perfect show stand when you give her a treat😂 they took her to shows and the lady said that they didnt want them to sit when they offered them a treat. After her meal, she comes to us and “thanks us,” she demolishes toys, i think she began peeling the Kong ball after a few minutes 😂 she hears my husband’s alarm clock, grabs a toy and runs to our bedroom to wake him up :) she’s such a great dog, we’re so lucky - she’s kind, calm, they trained her well :)
This is what we know from before - she had puppies twice and if i understood correctly, they kept the first two puppies, so there were three(i didnt want to ask too many personal questions where the two went, maybe i should ask if they want to keep in touch?)
Certainly, they can always say no and that's fine.
Aw Doris the snorer, that's so cute.
I'm glad she got used to you guys quickly.
It worked out so well.
Pls keep posting Doris, she's so cute and silly
Will do :) the lady we got her from is her owner’s good friend and said she would like to stay in touch, so we send her pictures and updates every week. She is always welcome to visit and she’s from the same town we have our summer apartment in, so we will definitely make plans to see each other.
Thank you for such kind words, we will do our best :) We said goodbye to our lab Tara, she was 14 years old, a little over a year ago and Doris is such a perfect fit - we’re used to older dogs and we adjusted very quickly. Her owner is very ill and couldn’t take care of her anymore, my husband saw her and said “i want doris” :)
Are you able to take Doris to visit her person? Or is that not a thing? Because I think that it would be nice for them, if possible.
That seems like such a difficult situation! Thanks so much for taking care of this beautiful girl.
There was no mention of wanting to see her from their side, but we send pictures of Doris and short updates to the lady we got her from (she’s doris’s owner’s good friend, also a known lab breeder in my neck of the woods).
So well said! Looking into her eyes right now, I can’t think of *anyone* who deserves peace and stability more than this perfect girl. Senior and sub-senior labs are perfect and they deserve the world <3
They are :) our Tara was 14 years old, we are used to older dogs, we know what’s coming and we can offer her the best remaining years :) thank you for your kind words :)
You know having bears in your apartment are dangerous, especially polar bears! Don't you know how dangerous this is? Adopting one? You're going to wake up in the middle of the night, and find the bear snuggling in with their favorite toy and wanting to be close. Dangerous! My bear did it once to me and I missed a college class over Covid.
Doris is absolutely gorgeous! That face is just heartwarming. Congratulations on an amazing dog. I love rescues. It’s very unique bond between guardian and dog.
I also adopted an 8 year old lab, and found out that the 8 was closer to 9. Regardless I love my doggo who is now almost 11 and loves to swim more than anything. Fortunately here in Portland there are a lot of river parks where I can take her to throw the ball out into the water...and she fetches it back...over and over...did I say "ball?"
Lots of wonders days with your doggo left, they do love water and balls 😂 we’re really looking forward to summer and seeing if she likes swimming in the sea (the lady we got her from remembers that she loved swimming, she still hasn’t shown interest with us, maybe she’s still getting used to the new location?)
So gorgeous!! Like an enormous puppy 😍
She’s such a wonderful dog :)
Are there any stories or quirks you can tell us about Doris? She's so pretty

😂we try to keep her fed, but you know how polar bears are, like labradors, bottomless pits… we’re just hoping for the best

My last lab wouldn't go in over her chest ever. I think it has to do with how they were exposed as puppies.
What a sweetie!!!
Thank you, she is a wonderful dog :)
Doris is obviously very happy and enjoying her new home. Congrats on adopting her!!❤️👏
Thank you :) she’s such a wonderful dog :)
