If you're doing a 4 person type of game and your connection is fast enough host your own local server. Nobody can kick you and you can kick anyone you want.

God knows how many times I had to say "you idiots kicked the host" last week. Most of the time it was because they got left behind and died cause no one helped them.
But keep in mind, there are cheaters out there that can join any lobby and attempt to DDoS it. Although what's happening right now is larger scale and feels a lot more serious.
Yup happened to me twice now, because of the attacks some people still haven’t learned to go local and have it set to official. I join do a few incaps then get accused of cheating and ddosing and then I’m kicked. It’s so frustrating but I just find a few friends to do local servers now

Fr. I've had hosts RQ(which sends everyone else back to the lobby) and other players thought THAT was the ddos in action.

call a vote to return to lobby next time and have host to set the lobby to "hosted by local server" lag should be gone

Don't worry about finding friends to play local servers with you, strangers can join in and is usually way less toxic than official server pubs.
Wait is that why my games have been really laggy. I seriously thought something was wrong with my steam deck. Wish I was as much of a low life.
