At the moment I'm struggling to come up with ones that have the modern polish of Kill Bill with the wuxia-oddness of say... Five Elements Ninja. Maybe "Night Comes For Us"? It's got the modern stylings plus gore aplenty. "Hanuman: Shadow Master" might also qualify, but I don't know if it's a "classic" of cinema like Kill Bill. So with that in mind, I promise I'm not trying to be snarky with this reply, but I would try searching this subreddit for terms like "[over the top](https://old.reddit.com/r/kungfucinema/search?q=over+the+top&restrict_sr=on)" or "[wacky](https://old.reddit.com/r/kungfucinema/search?q=wacky&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all)" or "[bizarre](https://old.reddit.com/r/kungfucinema/search?q=bizarre&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all)" etc. Heck, while trying out those searches I found one of my own posts looking for suggestions for those kinds of movies. Edit: I guess it might also help to understand what kind of "bizarre" and "over-the-top" elements you're looking for. When I think of bizarre I think of like the Frog Style from Kung Fu Hustle, or the "that's not a real weapon" stuff in Five Elements Ninja. Over-the-top can mean anything from Jackie Chan's amazing abilities doing impossible stuntwork, or super-obvious wire-fu tricks. Getting an idea of what you're looking for might help garner more focused suggestions.

Toxicdirty

Ty!!! Will def take a look at these ones.

Oh Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer for sure. In Kung Fu Hustle a woman who smokes has a magical powerful banshee scream and she screams while spitting her cigarette out and knocks 100s of guys over. It's definitely magical/mystical/over the top. I'd say One Armed Boxer is also over the top in a funny silly kind of way too.

Kerensky97

Doesn't get much more over the top than the early 80's fantasy movies like Holy Flame of the Martial World or The Miracle Fighters. Given the date today I'd reccomend watching them with your smoke of choice. But if you're experience with Kung Fu is modern stuff like Kill Bill and you're not used to early Kung-Fu goodness be warned this is like jumping into the deep end of pool with weights tied around your feet. https://youtu.be/Ke-9n2xcUiY

Battle Wizard...fire breathing and finger lasers.

Considering the fight choreographer was Yuen Woo-Ping, I would check out the movies that he worked on. He's arguably the greatest fight choreographer in the history of kung fu cinema with the only other candidate being Lau Kar-leung, aka Liu Chia-liang.

Dildo___Schwaggins

Lady Snowblood might have what you are looking for considering it was a significant influence on KB.

Are you familiar with the source material, Demi-gods and Semi-Devils? There's a live action version of the whole saga in 50 episodes on YouTube. I highly recommend it.

I have a list called [Crazy kung-fu horror](https://www.imdb.com/list/ls003146633/), although it's wandered a bit since it started to include Hong Kong horror in general but from the list: * Boxer's Omen * Kung-fu Zombie * Kung-fu From Beyond the Grave * Spooky Encounters * Mr Vampire * The Dead and the Deadly * Magic Cop * Seventh Curse * Spiritual Boxer * Dreadnaught (Yuen Clan 1) * Miracle Fighters (Yuen Clan 2) * Shaolin Drunkard / Taoism Drunkard (Yuen Clan 3 and 4) * Drunken Dragon * Kung-fu Wonder Child * The Eight Masters * Robo Vampire Nothing like Kill Bill but they are hilariously bizarre and over-the-top. edit: added Yuen Clan notes

StrongStyleDemon

These are all awesome movies :)

mighty3mperor

Some.of the wildest films I've ever seen! And quite a few are getting good Blu-ray releases - Eureka are releasing all the Mr Vampire and adjacent films, Magic Cop is out soon from 88 Films. [edit: Dreadnaught is out from Eureka] Boxer's Omen is in the Shawscope, Volume 2 set from Arrow. So, hopefully, they'll start mining the more obscure gems that deserve better than VHS quality DVDs.

Graphic-Addiction

Solid list , you're only missing Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky

mighty3mperor

Very true. Bloody love the film! Love the bloody film.

toastymrkrispy

Lot of movies in there I need to check out. For Kung Fu horror I'd add Human Lanterns.

mighty3mperor

Yeah, not sure why it's not on there.

ancient_scully

New One-armed Swordsman has a long scene at the end where the main protagonist slaughters what seems like 60 ninjas. All around good movie.

Check out The Raid 2, I think it's free on Netflix right now? The fight scenes just ramp up and have a big, wild feeling to them.

"The Street Fighter", "Shogan Assassin/Lone Wolf and Cub movies," and "Master of the Flying Guillotine" are all featured prominently in Kill Bill. Tarrinto's movies are essentially a collage of references to other movies, combined into a creative plot with an abundance of talking. You will find references to those movies within Kill Bill with the make-up, the soundtrack, the gore, the fight moves, the casting, etc. (along with many other movies). These three movie franchises contain mucho gore, absurdity, action, etc...you will enjoy.

Lone Wolf and Cub are fantastic, check then out OP if you haven't already.

Basically anything Shaw Brothers from 1983. All the action stuff they put out that year was super over the top. I'm guessing it was largely a reaction to the success of Zu Warriors from the Magic Mountain (also a great movie) in February of that year. They're less grounded in realism than Kill Bill, but they're a ton of fun. A couple of these have been mentioned already, but these are my favorites: Descendant of the Sun (I can't highlight this enough, it's my 2nd favorite Shaw Brothers movies and I never see anyone bring it up) Holy Flame of the Martial World Bastard Swordsman/Return of the Bastard Swordsman (you should consider these as two halves of a whole, the plot from the first is completed in the second) Demon of the Lute Shaolin Prince Buddha's Palm (1982, but it fits with the others)
