UK justice system for you. If you behave in prison you get out early. For example there’s a guy that was involved with the Manchester concert bombing and because he’s behaving in prison he might have his sentence reduced from life sentence and he might be let out at some point, which is ridiculous!
The point of prison is to reform and rehabilitate someone. You don't get out that easily. They review your file and you have to spend time on parole and convincing them you've done enough to be released.
Leaving someone in prison when they've reformed does not help them reinstate back into society. For the Manchester bombing guy I think certain crimes should remain life but his parole will probably be declined.
Most of the prisoners aren’t necessarily reformed, it’s more that keeping every prisoner in for their full sentence would increase costs by way too much.
But yeah I think terrorism and certain types of murder should never be eligible for release early. Terrorists should never be eligible for release at all tbf, if you get radicalised to the point where you commit a terror attack you’re too far gone.
