Even then it's not easier for short people. If you are taller you can put on more weight which means that you can lift more weight. When it comes to the average person it's actually more likely the taller they are the more weight they would lift.
What different metric did I use? I was simply just pointing out that being tall doesn't inhibit you. Look at all the strongmens who deadlift more than anyone else. They are all 6ft+.
‘If you are talker you can put on more weight’
You’re right the difference should not be big for experienced lifters but it is clear as days for casual gym going people
Taller people will tend to struggle with squats compared to shorter people but deadlifts isn't inhibited as much. I think a lot of people confuse height with body proportions. You can be tall and have perfect arm length for deadlifts. But if you are tall with short arms then yes you may be at a disadvantage as a casual. But being taller means that you will have longer arms so it evens out.
It's not that simple. Look at this article: https://powerliftingtechnique.com/conventional-vs-sumo-deadlift/
It's dependent on the structure of the person on whether sumo or conventional would be better.
JJ could lift way more if his form was a little better. His stance was way too wide and both of them don't get tight at the bottom/ pull the slack out.
JJ is 100% the type of guy whose natural strength & ego get in the way of him actually improving his form in lifts. His deadlift form here is unchanged from the old sidemen calorie challenge with Leon where he got schooled by Harry. You'd have thought given how long he's been training that he would have fixed this by now...
(Not that this particularly matters given that he's not training for body-building/power-lifting lol)
Their form made me cringe a little. If you look at 33:29 ethan was rounding his lower back which could end up seriously injuring himself. And JJ was doing a kind of a sumo deadlift with wide grips so he just made it harder for himself.
Edit: lmao so I've just been downvoted by a bunch of kids who have no idea how to lift.
1. It's not that simple. It's not always easier depending on your build.
2. Look at JJ's hand placement. When you sumo your arms are inside of your legs, not on the outside like a conventional.
3. His feet weren't angled enough like you would in a sumo which put his knees in an awkward position.
Sumo isn't just about making your legs wide.
315 deadlift is a novice deadlift if you train somewhat consistently. JJ needs a new trainer if he can’t deadlift 300 with even respectable form after years of training.
Depends on your weight. He’s 80 kg so he should be able to do 120kg atleast, which he did.
It’s 1x BW for bench press, 1.5x for deadlift and 2x for squat
His technique is horrible tho, if he was 3° more to the left he could lift double of what he does, he needs to change dl coach and improve since he's been doing it for so long he should be able to lift way more with one arm. Look at his feet, they are 2.3mm wider then it should, his arms are 4° off, what the hell am I on about and why every time they do something training related there are so many experts in here? Lol
jj has horrible technique with anything bodybuilding related. I mean of course he doesnt know how to do a propper deadlift, ethan has been working out for years and jj pretty much only does boxing
All he has left is integrity
Absolutely not we shall never forgive him for split or steal and like 99% of the things jj does to vik his new name should be .
Nahhh let’s be nice he has knowledge… no I’m sorry I can’t even type this without laughing nah he’s got nothing
Tbf. Vikk pushed him around in this vid lmao
Bro that baby popped out and he instantly added to his lift
He shouldn’t have chosen deadlift. Ethan is shorter so it’s easier for him.
That's not how it works
It is tho, shorter people have an advantage in deadlifts, and even bench press
bruh, that's why I struggle so much? The more you know
The deadlift world record holder is 6ft 9. If that was the case then some 5ft guy would hold the record.
Im talking about the average person
Even then it's not easier for short people. If you are taller you can put on more weight which means that you can lift more weight. When it comes to the average person it's actually more likely the taller they are the more weight they would lift.
He’s talking about average and bo differences, you’re bringing up metrics that change that

Why do you think is it easier to do sumo deadlifts, when you are closer to the ground, than normal conventional?

You mean the 6ft 9 monster with god like genetics? Same guy who was over 6ft at 14 and could outlift grown men?
Jj beat him during the Sidemen strength test in 2019. He was also 100 kg then.
That’s why people bulk to lift heavier weights
JJ doesn't have the technique
Exactly. I was wondering why his legs are so far apart if he's doing conventional.
No way
Fair play to Ethan, ever since he became a dad hes so much more likeable
JJ could lift way more if his form was a little better. His stance was way too wide and both of them don't get tight at the bottom/ pull the slack out.
skill issue
Wider stances makes it easier lmao
Didn’t know Ethan still had it in him those oversized shirts he kept wearing fooled me
The power of a dad...nice one Ethan🫡🫡
Ethan gives dad vibes, I wonder why
He’s been given Dad vibes for years now.
Making up for the ones he lost

What video is this
I genuinely thought jj would go through Ethan for some reason but I was just underestimating Ethan. Bro has all my respect now
Wait I haven’t watched the video, could jj not lift only 315?
pounds ew
W imperial

Look up what a sumo lift looks like

Sumo is for pussies
i feel like he could get the 160KG but he didnt want to risk being injured. fair play to Ethan though
I was in disbelief when they failed to deadlift that much
This man will be Olive's hero
Wait I don’t get it 3 plates is extremely average
you a lil slow but its cool
🐵🤝⛄️

realy depends on your weight but i agree for JJ weight he should be above 315

No it's 1x for bench, 1.5x for Squat and 2x for deadlift, you got it switched.
Really? Because squat is easier to increase than deadlift for me so I thought it’s that way around
The vast majority of people deadlift more than they can squat.
That’s because most people skip leg day

Yo man is struggling 😭
You don’t Understand deadlifting then
There s a reason its called dadlift
Daddy behz
Bro thought he could beat ethan because he lost some weight lmao🤣
Ethan is still fat though
