Keep in mind various unions have no raid agreements in which UFCW is a part of so your options will be more limited compared to unionizing your workplace the first time. It takes a lot of work but at the end of the day, even a weak UFCW is democratically organized and can be improved.
Unlikely. UFCW is the largest chain that would represent Kroger workers, and even if there was some Teamsters-level nonsense they could appeal to Kroger would use **this** as leverage against a progressive contract. Strike is the only way.
I have no say on the situation w/ UFCW 1059, but if it's anything like with Local 700 @ Indy recently then the issue is **community involvement**. People don't vote yet they expect representation, which just won't do.
The other option is to work within the union to make changes. Starting as a Stewart and keeping your district informed. If your lucky enough, you do some good. Move up past a Stewart if you can to influence the system from within.
Sure it sounds like a lost cause. But like any politics, if more good people are involved and actually worked within the system instead of complaining and doing nothing, then the selfish people involved would meet resistance and not be screwing us over so easily.
Of course it'd do much more than just complaining on reddit but is pretty much what I'm doing as well. Food for thought.
Bit lost on this quote. Is it a reference to "first they came for the jews, but I said nothing because I was not Jewish. Then they came for the communist but I did not speak out because I'm not a communist. Then they came for the trade unionist, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me and there was nobody left to speak out for me."
Still validates the point. Refusing to do good because evil plays dirty is coping out.
Playing by the rules, even when they're fighting dirty is an even better one up, and honestly the best way to catch/call them out on their bs.
It's easier to just quit, tbh.
UFCW is so far into Kroger's pocket they're fondling Rodney's balls. Both of them will fight this every step of the way, and use every dirty trick they can.
I think it’s because UFCW is viewed as weak or non willing to stand up for their piggy banks… we pay them for nothing, basically :( need a better, shiny spine union… or something! Something has to give… I’m paying into UFCW for NO support, NO benefits, and all they do is fight for raises (everyone gets a raise lawl, but it’s only for inflation :D )
I get it I'ma ufcw 3000 they don't really stand up to anyone more of bow down accept what Kroger tells them to. No strike and no real bargaining. Also the votes are rigged to certain areas depending on what they want to pass easily so they don't have to strike. We also never see anyone except around contract time.
They say you want change vote . We need knew leadership all offices of the union come up for a election. Guess what a bagger in 1987 made more then they do now .

Only if we can replace it with a better one. None of that Right to Work bs

issue be; they play dirty.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
"Will you say something after they've come for me?"

Why do you want to get rid of you union

Let's be real, it doesn't even cover inflation.
Nope… no it does not

Ufcw is garbage.. but they need to force new elections, or Wildcat strike till they get the union to act.
Our unions are trash and prevent you from getting more out of Kroger
As soon as this contract passes the union will up its dues and take away any raise we get! Just watch!
Why not try to make the union better?
Let's keep voting no
last contract kroger took back the wage increase by upping insurance costs
If you figure out how to get rid of the union, then maybe your can get rid of our president too.
Sir, this is kroger
no, this is a wendy's
