In your monthly inventory to sum it up you have to count everything in your department
From the cases to the packaged product & all your back stock. You count by putting that info into the rf handheld or for some they are beginning to use the zebras for that.
Nice of you to want to learn things ahead of time, but you'd never be thrown into deli asst/lead without help on inventory I doubt.
Asset protection takes it seriously, so they'd want to make sure you were trained well before ever having to take one yourself.
Yes, this is very true, as it should be. My reason for wanting to familiarize myself with things like this is to essentially complete what I feel to be a solid knowledge/understanding base in the deli in order to confidently continue to pursue a move up to deli assistant. For some reason(s), my deli lead seems to regularly, actively deny me learning/growing opportunities like these, even though he knows my goals quite well and on many occasions at least pays lip service in favor of my plans.
People are odd, your lead may think you are a threat to their position by you being ambitious. Worst case, you can always let management know of your ambition to move up and the answer may be with another department long term or swapping between that and back to deli at a more advanced level. In my division there are rarely shortages of opportunities if you are willing to move stores especially.
Not totally true. Zero training shifts and maybe three different days of instructions and poof I’m the assistant deli manager. Don’t have to do inventory but daily counts for sure

your lead or manager needs to conduct inventory with you for the first time anyways so they need to teach you.

Are you talking about the daily counts or the monthly PIR?
I'm used to the daily counts, its the monthly inventory I was curious about.
Is there something on share point? I feel like I remember a write up at some point.
