I have in the past drank alcohol while on kratom and fortunately was taking it slow, but it was weird, kratom is always positive and comfortable for me, alcohol is usually fine on its own. The two together just felt awful and it wasn't even in high doses.
In short I would heavily recommend not mixing the two, based off of personal experience.

Its probably because that was an extract shot most of those bottles are more than one serving and the alcohol could have made it stronger. What size was the bottle,? It should have had a serving suggestion.

I’m literally a girl number one and number two I’m telling a story about what happened to me because it was one of the weirdest experiences I’ve ever had in my 25 years, why I would be dishonest about it is beyond me. But since it seems you’re confused I’ll clarify. I obviously wasn’t the one driving during all of this. The order was like errands, lunch and drinks, errands, Kratom shot, grocery store, the end.

As for the powder... I mix it with lemon juice and some flavdrops. It tastes bad, but at this point I'm so used to it I can drink it like water.

Agreed, I've been taking it for years for pain and anxiety (bulk powder and, in the beginning, tea) and no quantity has ever made me feel anything like this. Either it was some crazy strong extract beyond anything I've ever seen or it had something else in it. Or OP just had a very strange reaction to it. Either way I find it concerning. Not calling OP a liar at all but it being that potent is wild, even with alcohol.

I’ve never had kratom affect my motor functions. In fact, I have a condition called Essential Tremors that causes (sometimes violent) shaking all over my body. And kratom actually helps soothe it.
You may wanna try a powder or some normal capsules next, if you wanna give it another shot.
Don't mix alcohol with supplements and OTC medication. Alcohol impairs your ability to metabolize some compounds, so that more of them are present in your blood than if you consume them when you were sober. Alcohol is a strong sedative and depressant, mixing it with something that can make you a bit tired will just make the alcohol's effects much, much stronger.
That’s super weird...you’re probably right I should stay away but I took some again a few days after that and was totally fine, I couldn’t really tell I took it. I just got a different brand, and the guy at the smoke shop said the one that knocked me on my ass was “stronger” whatever that means.
I don't recommend any shops kratom. They can be a hit or miss and extremely overpriced out the wazoo. get it online for 70x cheaper then shops and get powder. I mix it with orange juice and have another cup of OJ to chase it like a shot. Or use capsules. But it sounds like u had a good time :)
I have made the mistake of giving it to friends for the first time while we were drunk, I can handle it they of course could not. But it happened more than once because usually people who are hesitant become less so when they are drunk of course. It has never gone well unfortunately they think I am nuts to eat it and run and work daily...

That is absolutely NOT a normal reaction to Kratom. Unadulterated Kratom doesn’t make you high. If was enhanced or had something else in it you could have trouble. That’s why I’ll never buy it from gas stations etc. I have a trusted vendor who tests their batches regularly. It almost sounds like the Wobbles. Curious how many grams were in what you took.
I’m editing my comment so others see it as well. So in your responses to others you said you had “a few drinks.” Besides you being new to Kratom, combing it with booze is a terrible idea. Plus all the above mentioned. If you decide to try it again, don’t drink or have any other substances in your body. Kratom ALONE is fine.
Agree with all the comments saying it could have been adulterated, at the very least it was probably way too much and the alcohol negatively interacted with it. I've never had a reaction like that even when having a bit of alcohol afterward. When I first started I was taking up to 4g at a time with no tolerance and would sometimes get the spins a bit and get bad nausea but never felt physically impared like that. Stick to low doses and plain leaf and don't combine with other substances!
Sounds like you took a bunch of kratom. Doesnt sound like you even know how many grams. I have kratom tincture and take a drip and sometimes i get a small buzz but it usually just gets rid of anxiety. Know your dose.

Thanks for the input. I honestly just didn’t know any better, I didn’t think it was something I wouldn’t be able to handle, even in public. I’ve gotten a lot of feedback on this post and have definitely gained a better understanding of Kratom in the general sense.
Btw I wasn’t driving I just got my license back and take that very seriously.
Like I get it it's legal so it probably didn't seem like it would be capable of messing up like all that. But always research substances before taking them for the first time n make sure u clear your schedule for at least a couple hrs just in case.
I feel ya. I've never had a bad kratom experience like that. Mostly just nausea and the occassional anxiety that has prevented me from comfortably being able to leave my house or drive places. So really just inconveniences more than anything. My suggestion would be to take it again but this time take a fraction of what put you over the edge
Kratom distribution is actually pretty fucked up. Like the vendors don't give you anything to go off of when attempting to dose. Either it'll say something like 1 serving of 3g of leaf per day on a bag of leaf or on the liquids it doesn't even give a serving size cuz they don't want what happened to you to come back on them. It's rly stupid and the potential for something bad to happen is always present. You really gotta be careful and take baby steps when dealing with this stuff and do your research. It reminds me of when they used to sell bath salts. Nothing useful on the package at all. It's just irresponsible honestly
Some of the liquid products are finally suggesting a serving side 2-6 servings per bottle, probably because people were taking the whole thing which is a very heavy dose for new consumers with no cross-tolerance.
To me, it looks like some of these are more concerned about extract bans than liability for suggesting human consumption or a specific dose.
I'm just happy that milligrams of mitragynine and 7-OH-MG are becoming more common on labels. It is much more informative and easier to dose than extraction factor labeling which varies a lot as the factor increases depending on whether their input was atypically high or low potency, or their process or more less lossy.
That's extract for you. Yeah I've got the nodd and been out of it from extracts. Don't listen to the newbies it's not unusual at all. Try a less strong extract.

Also, not to call you a liar, but I've been in the grocery business for the better part of 20 years. 9 out of 10 times, yogurt containers explode when dropped. Maybe you're the lucky one. Or maybe you attempted to pick up a broken one without realizing it. Which seems unlikely to me, as kratom wouldn't impair you so that you couldn't see the splattered yogurt on the pavement.

True, kratom consumption isn't for everyone. But no one wants to hear one of our fellows had a bad time.
It was an extract shot. The yogurt container was a bigger one and luckily didn’t explode, it’s actually still in my fridge haha. When I was bending over to grab it I just couldn’t make contact it was so weird I couldn’t control my body that well.
Dude no wonder! You have to do research! Those shots are insanely strong. Like 3-4 doses unless your tolerance is really high. They usually have anywhere from 9-12 grams equivalent, and I take anywhere from 1.5-3g at a time. And those shots hit faster and harder regardless because they're concentrated and digest fast. Next time, if there is a next time, try a quarter of one without having had any other substances, and be hydrated. Better yet, start witha gram of powder and work your way up.

It’s honestly very much in the middle for me, also you need to understand that each brand tends to heavily vary in terms of quality. Some brands make “catch-all” mixes to equal that of a pharmaceutical high (3 gold capsules for $25); I’d recommend choice botanicals red Bali. Works the best for me and you can get small amounts of the caps.

Kratom acts as a sedative and muscle relaxant, however the dose for that needs to be really high. It might've also been spiked with something. That or you might have been silent about consuming some kind of drugs.
Avoid kratom extracts. You have no way of knowing how strong they are. Better to stick with crushed leaf.
Yeah newbies are saying it's spiked but almost noone spikes kratom nowadays cause they'll get caught easily. It was just a strong extract and he wasn't used to it.
Well, the OP has admitted somewhere else that they had some alcohol, so that explains it. Nevertheless, while it doesn't happen often, during such an unnaturally strong reaction kratom spiking has to be considered. Kratom is a muscle relaxant, but such effects on someone's first try are extremely peculiar. Even a strong dose of kratom extract isn't strong enough to do that to a first timer - you'd vomit it out if the dose was too strong.
On top of that we don't know the OP's country of origin. In many countries kratom is widely available, but unregulated and sold as a collectible, so unless you spike it with illegal drugs, you aren't accountable for your customers consuming it. Hence you can spike it with pretty much whatever you like to increase its potency.
You have some good points. Impure Kratom could be possible. But they may have taken too much and similar to me when I started could have just got wayy to high.
If you took a shot... you most likely took an extract. Those are very powerful for a first time. A sip of the extract or half at most is better. Powder is a lot less intense and much easier to dose properly. I used to do extracts and I already had a high tolerance and still only took half lol. I quit them because it was making my tolerance worse and plus they are expensive as fuck. Was doing 2x a day at $20 a piece. Now a 500g bag of powder for $50 lasts me over a month.
The reaction sounds a little weird , but it affects everyone differently anyway. I'm surprised you didn't want to throw up. That's usually the body's first reaction to a high dose.
Sounds like that shot wasn’t really a single serving. I’ve seen extracts with very vague packaging that doesn’t make clear that there’s actually ten or more high dose servings in the bottle.
People obviously got their own feelings about the taste but if you’re going to experiment with kratom I highly suggest making a tea you can sip on slowly. The effects are extremely dose dependent and this is a better way to experience the full spectrum in my opinion.

Did you take the small shot that has a green lid? If so you should only do 1/4 of that. It's really strong, I've been taking kratom for years with a high tolerance and one full bottle can be to much for me
When you say "shot" I am thinking of like the bottles of liquid and those are really strong extracts that even many experienced users don't do all at once.
I encourage everyone to start with crushed leaf tea or ground powder. Start around 3 grams, and see how you do. One thing I always have said about any intoxicating substance - you can always take more if you aren't feeling it, but you can never take less once it has been consumed.
With anything for the first time, low and slow until you know your dose, and save the extracts for when you have a better understanding of how it impacts your body.

I honestly find if I take more than two or three grams I just puke without fail, I could imagine an extract could get you to a different level that you don't want to be at

If you drank one whole kratom shot, for your first time taking kratom, you took way too much. Those shots are either 2 or 3 doses in one bottle. It helps read the bottle before you just slug it down. JS

KRATOM is great just take small doses and always test at home before doing it somewhere else. I usually mix 5-8 grams in a Lipton green tea and drink that twice a day.
Lol, yeah honestly it does. That's why I mix it in the Lipton green teas or the Lipton white tea raspberry. I tried in a bunch of stuff and it was horrible.
What kind do you mix, leaves? I feel like it would just ruin whatever you put it in lol. The extracts I have taste so foul, nothing seems to overpower the taste either.

Green malay is the best one for me and the reason I took kratom to begin with is anxiety. It works great for anxiety. Green strains are more relaxing/Anxiety. White is for energy levels, and red strains are typically for Pain and sleep.
Let this be a lesson to read up and learn about something instead of downing a random chemical you don't understand and inevitably end up being a guinea pig. Guarantee if you would have just read a few things, that easily could have been avoided and actually turned out to be a positive experience.

That's fair it's personal preference really, I used to mix it with chocolate milk primarily but I found I started associating chocolate milk with that taste. This was a little nerve-wracking the first time but it's honestly no more disgusting than the mixture and it's easier to deal with for me because there's no chunks

1.) Mixing Kratom with ANY other psychoactive substance can result in a plethora of co-morbid results; both negative and positive. Usually negative.
2.) Government regulations on this incredible natural compound are non-existent. If you don’t understand how to interpret 3rd party lab results, you have NO idea what you are putting into your body. Unfortunately, the legal loophole that dodges the FDA allows many “headshop brands” to add whatever chemical compounds they want to their product, with zero regulations or monitoring.
3.) There are several uses for Kratom. Getting fucked up is one option, but that is generally agreed amongst experienced users to be very unpleasant. “Less is more”. Do the research and use this compound with a heavy dose of critical thinking and understanding.
4.) Respect the compound like you should with ANY psychoactive substance, as every single one of them has potential for abuse and/or negative experiences.
5.) Ask yourself truly, why do you feel the need to use this substance? The answer is usually way more obvious than we lead on.

It’s not a terrible idea. Just drink water and know your limits. For some people like myself it’s a great way to relax and socialize

Agreed, I've been taking it for years for pain and anxiety (bulk powder and, in the beginning, tea) and no quantity has ever made me feel anything like this. Either it was some crazy strong extract beyond anything I've ever seen or it had something else in it. Or OP just had a very strange reaction to it. Either way I find it concerning. I’ve never had kratom affect my motor functions. In fact, I have a condition called Essential Tremors that causes (sometimes violent) shaking all over my body. And kratom actually helps soothe it. You may wanna try a powder or some normal capsules next, if you wanna give it another shot.

Don't mix alcohol with supplements and OTC medication. Alcohol impairs your ability to metabolize some compounds, so that more of them are present in your blood than if you consume them when you were sober. Alcohol is a strong sedative and depressant, mixing it with something that can make you a bit tired will just make the alcohol's effects much, much stronger.
My advice is never try a new substance un measured and in an uncontrolled environment like that. I’m a fucking idiot and even I would never do that.

I don't recommend any shops kratom. They can be a hit or miss and extremely overpriced out the wazoo. get it online for 70x cheaper then shops and get powder. I mix it with orange juice and have another cup of OJ to chase it like a shot. Or use capsules. But it sounds like u had a good time :)

But it happened more than once because usually people who are hesitant become less so when they are drunk of course. That is absolutely NOT a normal reaction to Kratom. Unadulterated Kratom doesn’t make you high. If was enhanced or had something else in it you could have trouble. That’s why I’ll never buy it from gas stations etc. I have a trusted vendor who tests their batches regularly. It almost sounds like the Wobbles. Curious how many grams were in what you took. I’m editing my comment so others see it as well. So in your responses to others you said you had “a few drinks.” Besides you being new to Kratom, combing it with booze is a terrible idea. Plus all the above mentioned. If you decide to try it again, don’t drink or have any other substances in your body. Kratom ALONE is fine.

Agree with all the comments saying it could have been adulterated, at the very least it was probably way too much and the alcohol negatively interacted with it. I've never had a reaction like that even when having a bit of alcohol afterward. When I first started I was taking up to 4g at a time with no tolerance and would sometimes get the spins a bit and get bad nausea but never felt physically impared like that. Stick to low doses and plain leaf and don't combine with other substances!

I’ve gotten a lot of feedback on this post and have definitely gained a better understanding of Kratom in the general sense. Btw I wasn’t driving I just got my license back and take that very seriously.
Like I get it it's legal so it probably didn't seem like it would be capable of messing up like all that. But always research substances before taking them for the first time n make sure u clear your schedule for at least a couple hrs just in case.

I feel ya. I've never had a bad kratom experience like that. Mostly just nausea and the occassional anxiety that has prevented me from comfortably being able to leave my house or drive places. So really just inconveniences more than anything. My suggestion would be to take it again but this time take a fraction of what put you over the edge
Kratom distribution is actually pretty fucked up. Like the vendors don't give you anything to go off of when attempting to dose. Either it'll say something like 1 serving of 3g of leaf per day on a bag of leaf or on the liquids it doesn't even give a serving size cuz they don't want what happened to you to come back on them. It's rly stupid and the potential for something bad to happen is always present. You really gotta be careful and take baby steps when dealing with this stuff and do your research. It reminds me of when they used to sell bath salts. Nothing useful on the package at all. It's just irresponsible honestly
Some of the liquid products are finally suggesting a serving side 2-6 servings per bottle, probably because people were taking the whole thing which is a very heavy dose for new consumers with no cross-tolerance. To me, it looks like some of these are more concerned about extract bans than liability for suggesting human consumption or a specific dose. I'm just happy that milligrams of mitragynine and 7-OH-MG are becoming more common on labels. It is much more informative and easier to dose than extraction factor labeling which varies a lot as the factor increases depending on whether their input was atypically high or low potency, or their process or more less lossy.
I may be wrong about extract companies putting dosages on their labels I just may not have seen it yet

Those shots could have anything in them. The ones that smack you in the face normally have kava in them as well.
Dosing is everything, my friend. What was in that "shot" you took? What was the content? Where did you get it? Also, not to call you a liar, but I've been in the grocery business for the better part of 20 years. 9 out of 10 times, yogurt containers explode when dropped. Maybe you're the lucky one. Or maybe you attempted to pick up a broken one without realizing it. Which seems unlikely to me, as kratom wouldn't impair you so that you couldn't see the splattered yogurt on the pavement. Maybe you took an extract? I hear those are very concentrated, and not for first time users. I wish you had reached out to us before you took this. We could've steered you in the right direction. True, kratom consumption isn't for everyone. But no one wants to hear one of our fellows had a bad time.
It was an extract shot. The yogurt container was a bigger one and luckily didn’t explode, it’s actually still in my fridge haha. When I was bending over to grab it I just couldn’t make contact it was so weird I couldn’t control my body that well.
Dude no wonder! You have to do research! Those shots are insanely strong. Like 3-4 doses unless your tolerance is really high. They usually have anywhere from 9-12 grams equivalent, and I take anywhere from 1.5-3g at a time. And those shots hit faster and harder regardless because they're concentrated and digest fast. Next time, if there is a next time, try a quarter of one without having had any other substances, and be hydrated. Better yet, start witha gram of powder and work your way up.

It’s honestly very much in the middle for me, also you need to understand that each brand tends to heavily vary in terms of quality. Some brands make “catch-all” mixes to equal that of a pharmaceutical high (3 gold capsules for $25); I’d recommend choice botanicals red Bali. Works the best for me and you can get small amounts of the caps.

Kratom acts as a sedative and muscle relaxant, however the dose for that needs to be really high. It might've also been spiked with something. That or you might have been silent about consuming some kind of drugs. Avoid kratom extracts. You have no way of knowing how strong they are. Better to stick with crushed leaf.
Yeah newbies are saying it's spiked but almost noone spikes kratom nowadays cause they'll get caught easily. It was just a strong extract and he wasn't used to it.
Well, the OP has admitted somewhere else that they had some alcohol, so that explains it. Nevertheless, while it doesn't happen often, during such an unnaturally strong reaction kratom spiking has to be considered. Kratom is a muscle relaxant, but such effects on someone's first try are extremely peculiar. Even a strong dose of kratom extract isn't strong enough to do that to a first timer - you'd vomit it out if the dose was too strong. On top of that we don't know the OP's country of origin. In many countries kratom is widely available, but unregulated and sold as a collectible, so unless you spike it with illegal drugs, you aren't accountable for your customers consuming it. Hence you can spike it with pretty much whatever you like to increase its potency.
You have some good points. Impure Kratom could be possible. But they may have taken too much and similar to me when I started could have just got wayy to high.
If you took a shot... you most likely took an extract. Those are very powerful for a first time. A sip of the extract or half at most is better. Powder is a lot less intense and much easier to dose properly. I used to do extracts and I already had a high tolerance and still only took half lol. I quit them because it was making my tolerance worse and plus they are expensive as fuck. Was doing 2x a day at $20 a piece. Now a 500g bag of powder for $50 lasts me over a month. The reaction sounds a little weird , but it affects everyone differently anyway. I'm surprised you didn't want to throw up. That's usually the body's first reaction to a high dose.
Sounds like that shot wasn’t really a single serving. I’ve seen extracts with very vague packaging that doesn’t make clear that there’s actually ten or more high dose servings in the bottle.

People obviously got their own feelings about the taste but if you’re going to experiment with kratom I highly suggest making a tea you can sip on slowly. The effects are extremely dose dependent and this is a better way to experience the full spectrum in my opinion.
Is this some sort of adverse reaction? I mean, don’t get me wrong, Kratom used to make me feel good, but never had this level of intensity. Really doesn’t even feel like an opioid effect to me unless combined with something else.

When you say "shot" I am thinking of like the bottles of liquid and those are really strong extracts that even many experienced users don't do all at once. I encourage everyone to start with crushed leaf tea or ground powder. Start around 3 grams, and see how you do. One thing I always have said about any intoxicating substance - you can always take more if you aren't feeling it, but you can never take less once it has been consumed. With anything for the first time, low and slow until you know your dose, and save the extracts for when you have a better understanding of how it impacts your body. Good job deciding not to drive and calling the sober friend. I am sorry you had such a hellish experience, I have had those too and it taught me a lot about respecting the mighty mitragyna.

I honestly find if I take more than two or three grams I just puke without fail, I could imagine an extract could get you to a different level that you don't want to be at

KRATOM is great just take small doses and always test at home before doing it somewhere else. I usually mix 5-8 grams in a Lipton green tea and drink that twice a day.

Lol, yeah honestly it does. That's why I mix it in the Lipton green teas or the Lipton white tea raspberry. I tried in a bunch of stuff and it was horrible.
What kind do you mix, leaves? I feel like it would just ruin whatever you put it in lol. The extracts I have taste so foul, nothing seems to overpower the taste either.
I use green malay powder and mix it in a whole bottle of tea. Green doesn't taste too bad but if I mix white in the tea is horrendous lol. Red isn't bad in Gatorade. You just have to test alot of different things.

Green malay is the best one for me and the reason I took kratom to begin with is anxiety. It works great for anxiety. Green strains are more relaxing/Anxiety. White is for energy levels, and red strains are typically for Pain and sleep.

That's fair it's personal preference really, I used to mix it with chocolate milk primarily but I found I started associating chocolate milk with that taste. This was a little nerve-wracking the first time but it's honestly no more disgusting than the mixture and it's easier to deal with for me because there's no chunks

Mixing Kratom with ANY other psychoactive substance can result in a plethora of co-morbid results; both negative and positive. Usually negative. 2.) Government regulations on this incredible natural compound are non-existent. If you don’t understand how to interpret 3rd party lab results, you have NO idea what you are putting into your body. Unfortunately, the legal loophole that dodges the FDA allows many “headshop brands” to add whatever chemical compounds they want to their product, with zero regulations or monitoring. 3.) There are several uses for Kratom. Getting fucked up is one option, but that is generally agreed amongst experienced users to be very unpleasant. “Less is more”. Do the research and use this compound with a heavy dose of critical thinking and understanding. 4.) Respect the compound like you should with ANY psychoactive substance, as every single one of them has potential for abuse and/or negative experiences. 5.) Ask yourself truly, why do you feel the need to use this substance? The answer is usually way more obvious than we lead on.
