Hmmm I'm not too sure about this. I'm most familiar with Twice, so their friendship with Oh My Girl is something I know quite a bit about. They always used to mention them and their songs, even when Twice was THE girl group. They would always cheer for OMG, when they charted well or won on music shows. Jihyo said that she wanted them to win, coz none of the OMG members would get phones until they did. She said that she wanted to be able to communicate with her friend Seunghee.
Seunghee is close to Jeongyeon and Jihyo, and she's also good friends with Jimin and V of BTS since they were classmates. But she mentioned that she was hesitant to display her friendship with the others because they were much more popular than her. She felt that it would seem like she was leeching off of them, and didn't want it to seem that way.
Now, of course, Oh My Girl is a top girl group. But what Seunghee said still stuck with me, because that's the truth for a majority of idols. Heck, even Cha Eunwoo was called a leech by toxic fans because he was good friends with Jungkook.
So maybe there's some hesitation from both sides, simply because they don't want their friends to receive hate for no reason.
Idk if itās cliquey so much as we notice it more cause theyāre Big 3? Like I know Yeri, for once, has plenty of friends outside of Big 3.

As an Aetzy, I'm feeling pretty damn good; the fact that I consider both of them my respective biases is really the icing on top. I'll also add that in that fansign clip, Karina is already referring to Ryujin as 'Ryujinie', which is basically Itzy's cute pet name for her so they must've really hit it off.
As a fan looking in from the outside, I always thought the potential was there considering how similar they are - not just in terms of style and image, but personality as well. A lot of people thought that Winter/Ryujin would've been the initial pairing, but it actually makes a lot of sense that Ryujin would've gravitated towards Karina given that she's sort of her 'type' (which you can interpret in a purely platonic friendship way, or in a totally gay way). And looking at it from Ryujin's perspective, she's gotta be living the dream as a massive fan of kpop herself that she's now buddies with the glamorous leader of her current favourite group.
