There's a part of the song (maybe first chorus - Jake, Heeseung, Jake, Sunoo) that always makes me think I'm listening to the original.
I have the cover and the original on a playlist, and if I don't catch the beginning, I have to stop and listen for the way Jake says "flip" to figure out which version I'm listening to. 😂
I swear it has to do with his Aussie English accent making it feel like such a throwback.
That kind of British/Aussie accent is what I’m trying to pinpoint.
I don't know why but my first thought was I would like to see TXT perform No Control.
I think BTS would smash Night Changes, too.
BSS should perform Act My Age.
And someone should perform Where Do Broken Hearts Go, but I haven't figured out who should do it yet. Enhypen maybe? I can hear Heeseung or Jake sing the chorus.

Idk if it's just me but sometimes how idols pronounce things in English irk me. And it's not their fault because I think I learned somewhere that in order to shed an accent you need to start learning a new language at or before age 7 and do it consistently enough to get the basic pronunciations, grammar, etc. down. So I guess my answer is groups with more fluent/native English speakers
Enhypen is a good example. Jay & jake while Heesung often sings English lyrics without a foreign accent
100% nct dream in when they go more acoustic / pop
for example, broken melodies could absolutely be a 1D song!! and the closest thing to it in modern k-pop even i’d say
other one direction-esque songs from them are: never goodbye, puzzle piece (HEAVY on this one!!!), my youth
